POPS"Global Islamic Terrorism." "Global Islamic Terrorism." --- the phrase of the New Crusades, the propaganda for long term worldwide war Sounds pretty slick. Rolls off the tongue easily. Doesn't take much thought. Creates a nice evil image of the enemy. But...Palestine is not fighting for Islam. It's fighting for it's homes. Afghanistan is not fighting for Islam. It's fighting for it's homes. Iraq is not fighitng for Islam. It's fighting to get it's country back from invaders who started the war based on deliberate fabricated lies. I hope more of us wake up to this and point it out, put it down where and when we see it: we're being sold a false bill of goods....the USA declaring worldwide wars outside the bounds of it's own Constitution, and using lies and propaganda and a one-sided view of who's right and excusing all it's own wrongs. ONE AND A HALF MILLION PEOPLE KILLED IN IRAQ! - someone said at the UN podium yesterday. And not one WMD. Who's the real terrorist? The real warmongers. T

POPSDon't Worry Be Happy if you are a communist in ZAF
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande is often seen wearing a Mao cap and is known for breaking out into his favorite tune: "My mother was a kitchen girl, my father was a garden boy. That's why I am a communist." But his new wheels have soured his relationship with his close ally COSATU, the country's largest labor organization. COSATU has asked ministers to return their costly cars and instead opt for cheaper ones favored by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, who bought two cars for the same price as Nzimande's one. "Nzimande was the one least likely to go on a profligate expedition ... when the (SACP) often rails against the excesses of unchecked capitalism," said a Wednesday editorial in Johannesburg's daily newspaper The Star. But the SACP has defended Nzimande, saying the German luxury sedan was bought on the recommendations of the police VIP protection unit. The rule book for ministers also allows for such purchases. over the limit....sorry not much more anyway.

POPSFaster Than the Speed of Whaaa? Yes I know it's a pic of the New York skyline, but, what do you want from a Chinese newspaper? My friends in Johannesburg use those Internet cafes to message me, we can't use the chat because it takes so long. When they use Google's gmail, on their cellphones, it is almost immediate. I don't understand much about this stuff, but I hope things do get better for that country. I don't know where they even got the $mil to get that underwater cable. I guess Zuma is trying to pull it off though. He has a lot on his plate already.

POPSZ news - What the SABC didn't want you to see Mail & Gaurdian puts up SABC unedited special assignment clip on internet but then gets sued. http://www.zapiro.com/scripts/Zapiro/hfclient.isa?A=Zapiro_Live&L=0O1242483095&AS=FIND|MP|99.00.01&F=2 Z-News seeks new online platform The producers of Z News, a news satire co-developed by award winning South African cartoonist Zapiro, is seeking alternative distribution channels after the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) pulled the plug on the show before the pilot even aired. The SABC reportedly spent close to R1 million on development before the show got canned. The producers are currently in discussions with numerous major online publishers to offer them a daily feed of the show, with revenue being generated through a mix of syndication fees, sponsorship/ advertising and mobile downloads. "Its a new model for South Africa, but potentially a great way to bypass TV and provide uniquely local, healthy and much needed satire."

POPSAn awful & debilitating condition called "life"
The doctors of convicted South African fraudster, Schabir Shaik, confirmed that he is in the final stages of a terminal condition called "life", and that the condition is irreversible. "We can only pray he makes it through the next 30 years," said one. "Each day that goes past the sufferer loses about 24 hours." Schabir Shaik, a South African businessman from Durban, rose to prominence due to his close association with former South African Deputy President Jacob Zuma. On 2 June 2005, he was found guilty of corruption and fraud. Zuma was dismissed as Deputy President, two weeks later. On May 8, 2006, Zuma found not guilty of rape. Zuma is the current President of the ANC. The South African Arms Deal was a US$4,8 billion (R30 billion in 1999 rands) purchase of weaponry by the S An Government, finalised in 1999, which has been subject to allegations of corruption. British and German investigators suspect that bribes of over one billion rand were paid to facilitate the deal.

POPSANC split good for democracy Mr Lekota is a close ally of former South African President Thabo Mbeki who was forced to step down last month. The governing party is divided between supporters of Mr Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, who won a bitter party contest to become ANC leader last year

POPSThe rape of South African justice
Julius Memela and his ANC gang of thugs have threatened to kill the cartoonist, Jonathan Shapiro (Zapiro). (They sounds like Islamic fundamentalist to me). Please note, neither Thabo Mbeki, Nelson Mandela nor Jacob Zuma have made any public statements to quell the anger or subdue the threats. The entire head and heart of this country is corrupt and the tragedy is, we have simply supplanted one tyrannical government with another. (Please note Jacob Zuma, our ex vice-president and now future president, a man with no class, integrity or even education, and many wives and countless children and very sticky sticky fingers, was acquitted of raping a young HIV positive LESBIAN female He never denied having sex with her (assuring us that he had taken the necessary precautions against HIV by showering afterwards). He claimed it was CONSENTUAL(sic) - with a LESBIAN!!!??? . And he got away with it. But the public have not forgotten. Hence Zapiro's portrayal of Zuma wearing a shower-ca

POPSWelcome to the new corrupt South Africa Oh, and add to that our future president, Jacob Zuma, who is still facing bribery and corruption charges and was found not guilty of raping an AIDS-infected lesbian. (he assured all South Africans that he was in no danger of contracting HIV because he had immediately afterwards taken a shower) Life in South Africa is about as surreal as it gets.

POPSHundreds Fleeing as Anti-Immigrant Mobs Ravage South African "Eric Goemaere, the head of Medecins Sans Frontieres in South Africa, said his staff was helping to treat people with bullet wounds and back injuries from being thrown out of windows. The humanitarian group is also known as Doctors Without Borders. He said Johannesburg's Central Methodist Church, home to hundreds of Zimbabweans, was under siege overnight and that police had told people they should be prepared to defend themselves. "It's a crisis," he said. He called on the South African government to declare Zimbabweans — there are believed to be up to 3 million in South Africa — as refugees and give them proper protection". All this goes to highlight the dismal failure that is our president, Thabo Mbeki and his corrupt government.

POPSStyle and substance Apart from this paragraph, there is very little in this article that I agree with. But this sentence captures my disquiet about Barack Obama. A couple of months ago a British commentator remarked that if Obama became US president, it would be a presidency of style rather than substance. A British commentator (I can't remember if it was the same one) said exactly the same about Jacob Zuma. Zuma attracte support from a conglomeration of disparate interests who were dissatisfied with the status quo, and that made Zuma "electable". And the same thing seems to be happening with Obama. But if either becomes president, which of their supporters' interests will prevail. Change can be for the better, or for the worse, but which way will it go?

POPSKenyan Gangs Use Genital Mutilation as Weapon in Post-Election Violence In Africa politics are governed by ethnicity. We see the beginning of the ethnic struggle for power in South Africa as well. Our current president, Thabo Mbeki, is a Xhosa and the presidential hopeful, Jacob Zuma, is a Zulu.. And they would vote for the devil himself, provided he's of the same tribe. At the end of the day in Africa everything splits down tribal lines. We're in for a big bust-up when Nelson Mandela dies.

POPSSouth Africa's corrupt Government Our government is rotten and putrid with vice and corruption from the head down. Our next president elect, Jacob Zuma, is facing numerous counts of bribery and corruption and yet he has the majority ANC support. He has also been accused of rape. A once affluent country is sliding down to match the rest of Africa. I could scream with frustration and despair.
