POPSBiotech Buzz Kills Adam Feuerstein over at TheStreet.com always has smart things to say about biotech stocks. In his column today, he makes both Onyxx, which has a big-selling cancer drug, and Exelixis, which is testing cancer drugs, sound very risky. With the markets a mess, it's hard to see how the extremely risky world of cash-hungry biotechs is going to appeal to investors.

POPSMcCain and Palin Can No Longer Be Excused That’s right – evil. Not just wrong. Not just bad. Not just politics. Exploiting otherwise decent people and using their fears, pain and frustration to unleash them on others with different names or different skin colors or different religious beliefs is evil. That’s not what American politicians do. That’s what Adolf Hitler did. And he did it when people were afraid and angry and losing their jobs and their life savings.

POPSWANT TO USE IT? PAY FOR IT YOURSELF! Health care (lack of) for the impoverished takes a back seat.
AS if this "Associate Professor" (I am bowled over) does not have to namedrop a school from the city where I first went to school, CHICAGO, he drops "the University that today has added yet another Nobel Prize winner in the sciences for the US" anyway. Three million dollars? If the benefit to the "children" is so great, let the parents of Chicago, the parents of Illinois or, BEST YET, the people who attend such science events, AS I OFTEN DID AT THE AMAZING CHICAGO MUSEUM OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY pay for it. My parents took me to that museum, with the submarine and the NYC apartment sized washing machine. I think we paid, like, an ADMISSION AT THE DOOR. Last year I could not come CLOSE to paying for the Health care I was prescribed. I could not come close to affording my medication. Frankly, I could not care less about a parent actually having to pay a dollar a child to get into the museum where people suffering FAR WORSE than I am could use that money simply to LIVE AND BREATHE. POPSChange you can believe in - change for the worse Do you like paying taxes, then watch government become bigger and more incompetent? Do you like discovering your family doesn't have enough income and start looking for a second job, only to find there are none? Do you really want a health care system like Canada's (ask any Canadian what they think of their health care - they wait over a year for an MRI, for example..) Did you like Carter's sky high inflation with a downward spiraling productivity? Then you will LOVE the change Obama brings you.

POPS This Bailout Was A Terrible Idea! Here's Why
This lending was a wholesale abandonment of reasonable lending practices in which borrowers with poor credit characteristics got mortgages they were ill-equipped to handle. Talk of Armageddon, however, is ridiculous scare-mongering. If financial institutions cannot make productive loans, a profit opportunity exists for someone else. This might not happen instantly, but it will happen. The costs of the bailout, moreover, are almost certainly being understated. The administration's claim is that many mortgage assets are merely illiquid, not truly worthless, implying taxpayers will recoup much of their $700 billion. The bailout has more problems. The final legislation will probably include numerous side conditions and special dealings that reward Washington lobbyists and their clients. Anticipation of the bailout will engender strategic behavior by Wall Street institutions as they shuffle their assets and position their balance sheets to maximize their take.

POPSU.S. Casued Global Market Mayhem Gets Worse
Australia today did what you're suppose to do to help prevent this descent into Global Worldwide Great Depression. QUOTE: the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cut its key cash rate by a steep 100 basis points to 6 percent on Tuesday, the biggest reduction since 1992. On Wednesday, the central bank went further by accepting more types of debt as collateral for loans and lend to banks for much longer periods. END QUOTE They are loaning money to banks cheaper...accepting more stuff as collateral for loans, giving loans to banks for longer periods of time. Period. A key words in the Aussie actions is: LOANS & COLLATERAL. The USA is BUYING bad debts and giving unsecured loans (with no collateral). Additionally, the Bush Plan not only gives away this money to banks to buy *hit...and gives loans with no collateral...but then the banks can deposit the money with the U.S. Federal Reserve and earn interest. (which d defeats the whole purpose of "loosing up credit for people

POPSScene From a Palin Rally Consider this snapshot from Dana Milbank a companion piece to my morning post . McCain-Palin has abandoned integrity and honor altogether, feeding the worst impulses of their most stupid and hateful supporters. Never again will you read a word in this space giving John McCain the benefit of a doubt or arguing that he should be dealt with respectfully. If respect must be earned, then so can it be lost. John McCain has lost any remaining respect I had for him and, I hope, that of any thinking American. He's allowed himself to be transformed by his ambition into pure scum. And his supporters? The less said about these assholes the better. WelKKKome to John McKKKain's AmeriKKKa...

POPSBailout Might Make Things Worse * Hundreds of leading economists, including numerous Nobel prize winners, question the bailout * Former White House economist (Steve Hanke) adamantly opposes the bailout * Nobel prize economist and former chief economist of the World Bank (Joseph Stiglitz) opposes the bailout *The former Secretary of the Treasury (Paul O'Neill) questions the bailout * A prominent economist (Nouriel Roubini) says "The Treasury plan is a disgrace: a bailout of reckless bankers, lenders and investors that provides little direct debt relief to borrowers and financially stressed households and that will come at a very high cost to the US taxpayer. And the plan does nothing to resolve the severe stress in money markets and interbank markets that are now close to a systemic meltdown." * A highly-regarded economist (Michael Hudson) says that the bailout is a giveaway that will cause hyperinflation and dollar collapse

POPSConfusing - This Economic Crises - Isn't It? I f documented and undocumented migrant workers in US send less money back to their families and relatives at home, then their relatives can't buy exported US goods and the American economic crisis gets worse. So, we need a bailout plan or economic stimulus plan to get more money into migrant workers' hands so they can send more money home, so they can buy US exports? And all this time, fright mongers were telling us that migrant workers were costing us? See it's confusing and not as simple as the simple minded have been telling us - eh?

POPSTeacher Suspended In Obama Video Scandal "As far as concerned, I think he gets what was supposed to come to him. But I don't think the children should be the victims of his stupidity." I find it disturbing that the superintendent knew about the political indoctrination underway and only objected to it being made public on the internet. Now, she claims to be disturbed by the politicization of school activities. The fact that her charges have been indoctrinated to chant that "because of Obama" they will accomplish marvelous things in life is far worse than making it public. video at link http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/10/teacher_suspended_in_obama_vid.html
