Bush Bad
merrie
by merrie  11-3-2009
Most important, the American people will quickly lose faith in a war that they conclude their Commander in Chief is ambivalent about fighting. Reports of puzzled commanders and troops in the field are already multiplying as they wonder why they’re risking death by IED if Mr. Obama isn’t sure about the mission. AP, apparently getting it: “Karzai’s election increases pressure on Obama.” It’s getting bad when even the AP wants to know what gives with the “marathon deliberations.” GOP’s Boehner actually gets in the first and only opinion on those deliberations in this AP article … “The White House has no further pretext for delaying the decision on giving Gen. McChrystal the resources he needs” … a highlighting which I can assure you, based on long experience reading between AP’s lines, is not insignificant.

Can Honduras Be Saved From Communism?
merrie
by merrie  9-5-2009    1
in order to defend their friend Zelaya. Unfortunately, some authorities in the U.S. have fallen for that version, without really knowing what went on. Why is Obama siding with Chavez and Castro on this matter? I believe that, on the one hand, Obama is beginning to show his socialist tendencies, which were denounced during the American presidential campaign. On the other hand, Obama is letting himself be influenced by several presidents of Latin America, particularly Lula of Brazil, who is the real power behind the São Paulo Forum. Can Honduras be saved from Chavez? I think it can, but it requires the participation of all citizens, not only of Latin America, but of the U.S. as well. Honduras is facing tremendous pressures, and will not be able to bear them without the help of the world public opinion. Every article, every interview, in favor of the Honduran democracy helps to defend their institutions against Chavez’s assault.

THE 9-11 DECEPTION
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-27-2009
This thin layer of super-thermite was evidently used to pulverize the concrete in the twin towers on 9-11. The people who applied tens of tons of thermite to the interiors of the twin towers are, in fact, directly responsible for the murder of 3,000 people on 9-11. If Al Qaida had teams of men spraying super-thermite and placing explosive charges in the buildings leased and owned by Larry Silverstein and the Israeli commando Frank Lowy, let's see the evidence. Otherwise, let's find out who really put the super-thermite in the twin towers. The United States went to war in Afghanistan out of "necessity," Obama said, yet the American public has not been given any solid evidence to prove that the Taliban of Afghanistan had anything to do with 9-11. Why then is the Zionist-run Obama administration sending more troops to Afghanistan? And why have they expanded the war into Pakistan? I have discussed in several articles the powerful Zionists behind the Obama White House. Obama w

Translating human feelings into computer data.
dopesick
by dopesick  8-27-2009
Such tools could help companies pinpoint the effect of specific issues on customer perceptions, helping them respond with appropriate marketing and public relations strategies. For casual Web surfers, simpler incarnations of sentiment analysis are sprouting up in the form of lightweight tools like Tweetfeel, Twendz and Twitrratr. These sites allow users to take the pulse of Twitter users about particular topics. A quick search on Tweetfeel, for example, reveals that 77 percent of recent tweeters liked the movie “Julie & Julia.” But the same search on Twitrratr reveals a few misfires. The site assigned a negative score to a tweet reading “julie and julia was truly delightful!!” That same message ended with “we all felt very hungry afterwards” " and the system took the word “hungry” to indicate a negative sentiment. While the more advanced algorithms used by Scout Labs, Jodange and Newssift employ advanced analytics to avoid such pitfalls, none of these serv

Goose/Gander? Guess It's About Who's Cooked.
Ilsadago1
by Ilsadago1  8-14-2009    1
This article pissed me off. But I was heartened by some of the comments. Some guy does up a poster expressing his opinion and I've seen it all over the place. Personally, I thought it was brilliant. No one had a problem with the anti-Bush, anti-Cheney cartoons and commentary... but I guess that was different. When was the last time - in your memory - that anyone, especially a kid, was taken into custody (but not 'arrested') for a political cartoon posted anywhere? Is satire dead? Is political commentary now a crime? Free speech is now a thing of the past? Or is it that we just can't disagree with the Chosen One? Well, they better come and get me because I don't like the guy, I sure as hell didn't vote for him or any of his cronies and I just might have to put this poster on my lawn.

The terrible bargain we have regretfully struck: confronting casual misogyny
Lexica

More: There are men who will read this post and think, huffily, dismissively, that a person of color could write a post very much like this one about white people, about me. That's absolutely right. So could a lesbian, a gay man, a bisexual, an asexual. So could a trans or intersex person (which hardly makes a comprehensive list). I'm okay with that. I don't feel hated. I feel mistrusted—and I understand it; I respect it. It means, for me, I must be vigilant, must make myself trustworthy. Every day. I hope those men will hear me when I say, again, I do not hate you. I mistrust you. You can tell yourselves that's a problem with me, some inherent flaw, some evidence that I am fucked up and broken and weird; you can choose to believe that the women in your lives are nothing like me. Or you can be vigilant, can make yourselves trustworthy. Every day. Just in case they're more like me than you think.

Why good teachers quit (hint: it's not just "burnout")
enbar
by enbar  8-10-2009    3
This is a point I've made over and over again -- we live in a society that does not value education, period. We might pay lip service to the work teachers do, but at the same time, Americans tend to look down on teaching as a profession for "nice" people without a lot of ambition. They're not respected by students, by parents, by school administrators, or by the culture at large, and teachers are frequently used as convenient scapegoats for a whole range of societal failures. No wonder good people decide not to stay.

The Worldwide H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic.
foxyarse
by foxyarse  8-4-2009    1
These statements serve to mislead public opinion. There is ample evidence, documented in numerous reports, that the WHO’s level 6 pandemic alert is based on fabricated evidence and a manipulation of the figures on mortality and morbidity resulting from the N1H1 swine flu. The Pandemic serves the interests of Big Pharma. The WHO is planning for the production of 4.9 billion dose, enough to inoculate a large share of the World’s population. Big Pharma including Baxter, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Sanofi-Aventis and AstraZeneca have signed procurement contracts with some 50 governments. (Reuters, July 16, 2009). For these companies, compulsory vaccination is a highly lucrative undertaking: The Role of the Military According to CNN, the Pentagon is “to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.”

Pope calls for Israel to be wiped off the map
foxyarse

When asked whether his latest statements have anything to do with the fact that he is German and that his chief speech writer and spiritual advisor was the recently pardoned holocaust denier Richard Williamson. The Pope replied: "I'm 82 you know". When asked how he suggested Israel be wiped off the map, his Holiness replied: "Ahh, good question, um, condoms, oh wait, lack of condoms, banning condoms, it's one of those isn't it?". Speaking from his Los Angeles mansion, a drunk, naked and slurring Mel Gibson was quoted as saying: "You go Popie, see I told I was right about those damn Jews". He then passed out in a pot plant.

Allowing Guilty Pleas Without Trial Would be the Ultimate Obstruction of Justice
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  6-7-2009
Obama administration wants to allow Guantanamo prisoners to plead guilty without a trial. Which will prevent details of their torture from becoming public during the course of the trial, a direct violation of standard criminal protocol. It also would solve the thorny problem of introducing ‘signed’ confessions that were obtained by the use of torture. The 9/11 Commission knows it cannot with any clear conscience use these as evidence. The author states a very compelling case against the government for obstructing justice. As always, the government is changing the rules in the name of political expediency. And in this case to prevent exposing the governments lack of real evidence for its version of 9/11.

How Americans Think About Torture - and Why
brightlight4
by brightlight4  5-11-2009
And all the while, the marketers painstakingly avoided using the actual word "torture"--and contested the word's use by anyone else. Of course, this strategy is by no means unique to the selling of torture. A similar approach, designed for hawking war, was used with devastating and tragic effect in building public support for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Admittedly, we cannot be sure that torture would be less popular with Americans today if the Bush administration had not worked so hard to promote it. But there is good reason to think this might be the case. After all, the combination of an outsized public relations budget, an overly accommodating mainstream media, and an unwary audience of millions is every marketer's dream. In similar fashion, we cannot really know whether there would now be even greater public support for torture if not for the efforts of those who have steadfastly spoken out against our country's interrogation abuses. Looking ahead, as still more information e

Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  4-8-2009
We are entering a new age of robotics. there is no doubt about that, at least in Japan. Robots integrated into everyday life is not only a technological feat but also a conceptual and social adaptation. In Japanese world view it is much easier to relate to robots as endowed with souls. This is fascinating, since it seems that we create our future technological world to reflect our beliefs and expectations. "Robots have hearts," said Kokoro planning department manager Yuko Yokota. "They don't look human unless we put souls in them. "When manufacturing a robot, there comes a moment when light flickers in its eyes. That's when we know our work is done." Public opinion in Japan may be more open to robots than in the West, where dark science fiction visions from movies such as "Bladerunner" and "Terminator" have conjured images of robo-soldiers taking over the world. Thanks to such benign cartoon characters as Astro Boy, "Japanese people have a friendly image towards robots

G.Levy: "Has anyone in Israel asked why the Swedes hate us?"
ratcatcher2
by ratcatcher2  3-23-2009    1
The demonstrators in Stockholm waved banners against violence and racism. It may be okay to ask why they waved them only against us, as there are some other racist and violent places in the world, but it is not okay to question the right to do so in general. Was there really no violence in Gaza, and is there no racism in Israel? If we were Swedes, wouldn't we protest against the pointless killing and destruction wrought by Israel? But we needn't get too worked up over the fury of public opinion in Sweden; its right-wing government is much less agitated, like all the other European governments. One need only recall the surreal scene at the height of the brutal assault on Gaza, when the heads of the European Union came to Israel and dined with the prime minister in a show of unilateral support for the side wreaking the killing and destruction. They didn't give a thought to visiting Gaza, and uttered nary a word of criticism against Israel. That is official Europe. ... Ha'aretz

The Pentagon's Propaganda Budget Up 63%!

Here is a place the government can cut! The "war for your mind" is real. Fox even reported it, so you decide. Could this in fact be the real war--public perception? The article says it also might be against the law, but what would be new about that? Does the government ever abide by the law? The next time you watch network news a tape of "bin Laden" or terrorist training camps, or film footage of Iran's military, or articles where they quote "defense sources say", but never name them, remember this. This happens alot.

Pentagon Spending Billions on PR to Sway World Opinion

When will it all end?! I'm so tired of the rich and greedy ruining our lives.. We all know in general people are caring, loving individuals that just want to raise a family enjoy our lives, take in all the beauty that IS, and to be left alone.. Where did this promise go? Why is there a continuous need to control and the unending need for greed.. The endless lives that are taken is just terrible.. the horrible part is the majority of people are just too stupid to think for themselves and see what is happening -- they are too easily swayed by the greedy that make sure there are plenty of things in the way to cloud any perception of truth!! Again, I'm no genius, but you don't need to be you just need to open your eyes and seek truth!

The Silence of the Bilderbergs

For a long time, people who spoke of the Bilderbergs or the New World Order, were considered "conspiracy theorists". Here in DK, the whole can of worms has gone very public. Our mainstream media, bloggers, politicians etc are all finally starting to wonder, what the heck is going on. Our PM is facing some tough questions, questions he refuses to answer. Follow each of the links clipped from, to get a general idea of what's going on. Today, in my opinion, the ones we should be laughing at, are the "coincidence theorists". ------ Explanations: The "Folketing" is our Parliament. Jyllands Posten is one of the country's largest print newpapers. * The missing "minutes" is a wrong translation. The word referat means report, or summary.
