POPSBloomberg's Wind-Power Talk "Can you put windmills off the coastline? That is highly likely." "I can seriously imagine offshore , but in terms of actually urban turbines in Manhattan, we are a ways off from that," said Valerie Strauss, spokeswoman for Albany-based Alliance for Clean Energy New York.

POPSWindy NIMBY An intriguing story about the wind energy industry in upstate New York. Now, corruption, if it's happening, is a legitimate concern. And I can see how a constant humming would be annoying. Vertigo, etc. But I'm not sure I understand the "destroys scenic views" complaint. I mean, windmills look really cool.

POPSEnergy at your feet Finally, unlike roof-top solar arrays, which some find unattractive, the solar collectors in roads and parking lots would be invisible.” In the lab, small slabs were exposed to halogen lamps, simulating sunlight. Larger slabs were set up outdoors and exposed to more realistic environmental conditions, including direct sunlight and wind. The tests showed that asphalt absorbs a considerable amount of heat and that the highest temperatures are found a few centimeters below the surface. This is where a heat exchanger would be located to extract the maximum amount of energy. Experimenting with various asphalt compositions, they found that the addition of highly conductive aggregates, like quartzite, can significantly increase heat absorption, as can the application of a special paint that reduces reflection.

POPSWhoring for Her Big Wind Investments Naturally, the Pickens Big Wind plan is proudly endorsed by Do-Nothing Pelosi’s friends at the obstructionist Sierra Club. Through another company, Mesa Power, Pickens has committed upwards of $12 billion in wind farms on the Texas panhandle. CEFC and Mesa Power are separate entities. But what benefits one piece of the Pickens puzzle benefits them all. The wind venture, as Pickens himself acknowledges, depends on permanent federal subsidies. Speaker Pelosi bought between $50,000 and $100,000 of stock in Pickens’ CLNE Corp. in May 2007 on the day of the initial public offering: “She, and other investors, stand to gain a substantial return on their investment if gasoline prices stay high and municipal, state and even the Federal governments start using natural gas as their primary fuel source. If gasoline prices fall? Alternative fuels and the cost to convert fleets over to them becomes less and less attractive.”

POPS0.3% of Saharan Sun Enough To Power Europe The visionary proposal comes as the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission released its strategic energy technology plan which highlighted photovoltaic cells as one of the eight technologies that need to be developed in the future. The plan also includes fuel cells, hydrogen, clean coal, second generation biofuels, nuclear fusion, wind and smart grids.

POPSNow who's in denial? And now with a straight face liberals say we'll have to starve the people in order to save the planet. Now who's in denial?

POPSBlackstone to Buy Billion - Euro Wind - Park: Sources Whoa. Blackstone is considered by many as the preeminent private equity firm. This is not a trivial investment, and i'm not talking about $. This commitment to the business of alt energy - specifically wind powered energy - could lead the way for the next wave of major investment capital. Very exciting.

POPSDesperate Politicians Desperate for More OIL Now they are all talking " Energy Independence ". Where were they the last 30 years??? Where were they when we needed to raise the standards for truck and car consumption? They cheered the Hummers on, as I recall and completely missed the boat on alternative energy. Where are the wind farms and the hydro-energy? What's wrong with these people? Even if we were to drill tomorrow, the oil will not flow for at least 5 years. What about the co2 output and all other environmental considerations? Here it is : More Propaganda and a lot of co2 in the hot air heads. More deception to come and the propaganda wheels are spinning!!!!!
