POPSCredit Where It's Due [Mark Steyn] I trust even now Maureen Dowd is working on a hilarious new column mocking proposed names for the Governor's first grandchild. Perhaps Richard Cohen can just take the week off and they can rerun his insightful analysis comparing the Palin nomination to Caligula making his horse a consul. Whereas we sophisticates all know that if McCain were as smart as Obama he'd have nominated a dead horse to be his consul. No wait...

POPSExpert: World is Entering a Little Ice Age At present, assured the world is going through a transition phase where solar activity diminishes considerably, "so that in two years or so, there will be a small ice age that lasts from 60 to 80 years," and the immediate consequence of this He added, will be drought. Here's hoping Algore freezes his gonads off...whoops... forgot he has no gonads....

POPSSwitching it up: How memory deals with a change in plans The answer is "both," according to researchers at The Johns Hopkins University, who have learned that two different areas of the brain are responsible for the way human beings handle complex sets of "if-then" rules. "This discovery may eventually lead to enhanced understanding of psychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and attention deficit disorder, all conditions in which a person's ability to remember and change such rules is impaired," "This indicates that different parts of our brains store different kinds of memories and information," Courtney said. That, she said, "provides clues about how the human brain accomplishes complex, goal-directed behaviors that require remembering and changing abstract rules, an ability that is disrupted in many mental illnesses."

POPSAnyone on The Left Approve of This? Cont... by mucking up my comments section with posts that said nothing, but all used the same in-joke pseudonym. Next, the tiny little thugs started putting up comments in my name and regular commenters's names, even using the word "nigger" in one of those posts -- as if that commenter had said it. That's straight defamation, and completely disgusting. Finally, after I started deleting comments that were clearly from people sent over here to be part of a mob to punish me for speech unapproved by the liberalocracy, the tiny thugs started posting huge spam posts like the one above -- also in my name -- from proxy servers in Germany, etc. So, in favor of your fellow travelers, or not?

POPSFrom Across the Pond - Step forward George Bush From Blog: And who will be joining in the call: leading voices in the worlds of the arts and politics, including the novelist Iain Banks, the artist David Gentleman and the human rights campaigner Bianca Jagger, have now joined forces to call for Mr Bush to face a war crimes trial in the Hague. Wonder how the Brits will handle the security and where they will force their citizens to assemble. Labour Against the War Anti-war protest planned for Bush visit to London Stop the War Coalition (STWC) described Bush as a "war criminal" and said the protest will be held outside the British parliament on June 15. And a Happy Fathers Day jr. bush, by the way, why isn't your new son-in-law in a military uniform!

POPSThou And Thou Only Well, first there is denial. You gotta get them well. Then there is anger. Why me? I didn't sign up for this; well, whoops, actually I did. THEN, comes the guilt. Like the guilt of wanting to do things together like you used to when your spouse was well. The guilt of having feelings that you have to close down like feeling sorry for your God damned well ass. But they forget to mention the shame. You are in another closet of sorts, pretending to everyone that everything is ok so people don't feel "sorry" for you in their smug superiority of comparing your life which sucks to their oh so much better one. And of course the fear and isolation, even though you are around ppl all the time; it never goes away. Sexual fears slowly become your reality. Ah, and then comes acceptance. Oh wait, maybe your spouse will get better? As you can see, dear readers, I'm not there quite yet.

This FREE software monitors your favorite web forums, and pulls in new posts, for you to read in one place. Sounds like a nice time saver! Whoops, it isn't free. Sorry, looks to be $30. Bummer.

POPSSometimes We Becme Prisioners To Our Material Choices Of course this is not taking into account the fastest growing debt here in the US which is for necessities such as medical care, food, and gasoline. You know, the ones who simply cannot be helped because they enjoy being poor. Thanks to GW the poor and moderate income families now have much more difficulty using bankruptcy protection. It's called tough s***, whoops, love. On the other hand, compassion flows for corporations like milk and honey. This clip is dedicated to those who get in credit card debt for their wants, not their needs. It's quite easy to become prisoners to our material choices.

POPS Texas Super Corridor Rebellion spreads to Oklahoma There is a growing rebellion in Texas against the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) that promises to dislodge (e.g., eminent domain seizures) between 500,000 and 1,000,00 acres of prime Texas ranch and farm land so that a 1,200 foot NAFTA transportation Super Corridor can be built by a foreign corporation to transport containers full of foreign goods from Mexico to Kansas City.

POPSGlorifying War. Calling John Wayne!! Our children are brought up to believe that war is glorious. Instead of teaching our children that war is the result of political failure, and should only be resorted to as the ultimate last resort, we show them images of marines marching, shooting, running while making war whoops. So many of us express concern over the violence that is portrayed in video games, and I agree, some of it can be pretty nauseating. But what makes violence any more acceptable for our children just because a flag is being waved in the fore or background?

POPScheering ban cost five their H.S. diplmas This is ridiculous. I understand officials wanting to keep the noise down, but these students cannot be held responsible for the actions of others. To deprive them of something as imposrtant and sentimental as a diploma is just way out of line.
