POPSThe ADHD Advantage: Did the “Hyper” Gene Benefit Our Nomadic Ancestors? "So, in other words, all of us with ADHD need to head back to the desert with a pack of camels loaded up with tents to really make the most of our “disorder” (how dare they call it that when it turns out it’s an evolutionary advantage unless you’re a semi-comatose couch potatoes). Of course half of us will absent-mindedly forget to bring essentials—like water—but we’ll have a lot of fun. Who’s with me?"

POPSThank You, Big Oil Ms. Clinton says, "We need a president who's a fighter, who will take on the oil companies." What we need is a president who will take on the US Congress and get them to stop strangling both the American public and energy companies with taxes and regulations; a president who will call congressional leaders of both parties on the carpet, publicly expose their hypocrisy, and demand that they take immediate action to repeal the smothering burdens they have shackled all of us with and which have caused skyrocketing oil prices. So the next time you feel like blaming the oil companies for the price of gas, why don't you call your congressman instead; I suggest that you get down on your knees and thank God for the brilliant minds of oil company engineers, geologists, chemists, and executives who - in spite of the US Congress - have the creativity and courage to provide the energy that keeps all of us alive and enjoying our modern way of life.

POPSLKY vs Taiwan With the publication of this article, who's still to say Straits Times leans too much to PAP? Clearly, Taiwanese do not think much of LKY's comments, and if Straits Times dare to show this commentary without censorship, it can be shown that the local media is not totally controlled by the ruling party.

POPSMark Steyn: Feed Your Prius, Starve A Peasant
Insofar as history will recall him at all, he may have the distinction of being the first head of government to fall victim to "global warming" – or, at any rate, the "war on global warming" that Time magazine is gung-ho for. The result is that big government accomplished at a stroke what the free market could never have done: They turned the food supply into a subsidiary of the energy industry. When you divert 28 percent of U.S. grain into fuel production, and when you artificially make its value as fuel higher than its value as food, why be surprised that you've suddenly got less to eat? Or, to be more precise, it's not "you" who's got less to eat but those starving peasants in distant lands you claim to care so much about. That tree the U.S. Marines are raising on Iwo Jima was most-likely cut down to make way for an ethanol-producing corn field: Researchers at Princeton calculate that, to date, the "carbon debt" created by the biofuels arboricide will take 167 years to reverse

POPSHow to buy a Chinese Indonesian wife Not all Chinese in Southeast Asia are rich and in Indonesia there are many poor ethnic Chinese. Some of them are concentrated in Singkawang that has traditionally "produced" wives for sale to men from Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, China and where there are pockets of ethnic Chinese. Unspun bets that the bridegrooms in this case are as old and unsavory as the old unsavory Westerners preying on young nubile Asian women that we often see. But if it makes them both happy, who's to say its wrong?

POPS12 Things a Woman Does That Men Find Irresistible 2. Youthfulness. This goes along with #1 because it comes from a playful heart. When I say youthfulness, I don’t necessarily mean age. What I mean is a state of being. Youth is an energy. You can tell a person who’s had it ruff from the world and who has become dead inside, and somebody who is youthful and fresh and has kept their sense of self separate from the negativity of other people’s opinions.

POPSThe Obama Crash and Burn These people really don't want an end to the racial divide. In fact, they fan the flames and hype the senses. I would have had no problem voting for a black person for President; none. However, white America has just been slapped in the face with black America's racial hypocrisy. I think we have been made plainly aware that there's been little progress after all.

POPSChildren Indulged By Parents Act Out In School Gee... what a surprise. While not a parent myself, it often strikes me that I see parents seemingly without spines unwilling to make the right choice for a child in the interest of "good behavior". Who's driving this boat?

POPSThe Myth Of Energy Independence Where did this notion of energy "independence" come from? Energy independence is not a new idea in American politics. Richard Nixon first started talking about it in 1974. The problem is it's no more feasible today than it was then. What about cellulosic ethanol, made from switch grass or corn stubble? I cite an analysis that was done by former CIA Director John Deutsch, who's now a professor at MIT. If his estimates are correct, producing enough cellulosic ethanol to displace just half of America's daily consumption of 20 million barrels of oil would require the U.S. to plant an area approximately equal to 1.5 times the size of Texas. That's a big area. If we could get the efficiency of the photovoltaic panels high enough, solar, ultimately, has more applicability. There are a whole lot of rooftops in this country you could put them on. Researchers are having better luck at converting larger parts of the light spectrum into energy.

POPSQ&A: Weak Dollar, Record High Oil And Gas Prices What about the U.S. economic slowdown? Isn't that supposed to reduce demand a bit, and theoretically lower prices? The decoupling question. What's your best guess about whether we're going to experience a recession? You mean new cuts the Fed may yet make? Or cuts the Fed has already made? The limp dollar has prompted a bickerfest between President Bush, who's been urging the OPEC oil nations to produce more oil so prices will fall, and OPEC leaders, who say the problem isn't limited production but the weak dollar and economic woes in the United States.

POPSEven Mark Morford Drinkin' the Hillary/Obama Kool Aid Oh Joy! A woman or a black guy! The Hope in the air for "Change"! Unfortunately, when you look past all that hype and look at their stance on the strong military, ROTC in the schools, their corporate sponsors and their status quo advisors...it's the same old crap, liberal style. Uncle Rhemus and Betty Crocker!!..they won't even let Kucinich on the stage in a fair debate! It sounds like weve been bought and sold another phony pair, even if the Rethuglicans ARE freaky horrible! I'm not buyin' this, not a bit of it. "Change" my poor ol' Progressive Hippie ass!

POPSDick Clark ushers in the end of an era I'm starting to feel that horrible end-of-junior-year feeling. You know: the best, most hopeful part is behind you; soon, the buffer of smarter elders will be gone, and next, you'll be shoved out to sea on a metaphorical ice floe. Winter of my discontent, indeed.

POPSTurning on line popularity into votes Kucinich is my choice. But people need to vote in the primaries. I am ashamed to say I cannot even remember whether I'm registered as Independent or Democrat. But bet on this -- I will find out and I will vote.

POPS BILL & HILL'S LATEST INTRIGUE Moreover, reports the Times, the foundation's donations are up 70 percent since Hillary's campaign got under way - with two-thirds of the money coming from just 11 donors. For his part, the former president says he'll be happy to start naming names and amounts - but not until Hillary is elected. Even then, he says, past donors will remain anonymous, "unless there is some conflict of which I am aware." However, he insists, "there is none." Pardon us if we don't simply take his word for it. Again, the possibilities for using the foundation for influence-peddling are enormous - and, sad to say, Team Clinton doesn't exactly have an illustrious record in safeguarding against any abuse. Unless there is something they don't want us to know, the Clintons should provide some genuine transparency and make the names and amounts public.
