POPSBlackwater:Ain't Misbehaving, Saving My Contracts for You
Of course the US government was blind to this - they didn't want to know, they turned a blind eye to what Blackwater was doing because it would have been too hard to arrange for another contractor to do all the security missions that it had ongoing. In both Iraq and Afghanistan, there are as many private contractors as there are uniformed military personnel. Most of them are not security guards as Blackwater's most visible function was. The lack of oversight is abhorrent but not surprising; the State Dept's failure to can this company is inexcusable. My only observation on this article is to suggest how the US government got into this predicament, and it's pretty easy to see. The Bush administration wanted to hold onto the fiction of a few conservative principles, one of those being the concept of a small federal government. Since it already blew that "principle" with the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, I'm betting there was White House guidance that directed "no mo

POPSResponding to modern Marxism Every single Democrat in the current majority, including Barack Obama, swore an oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution. Yet, they absolutely ignore the limitation of power set forth in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. None of the 17 powers enumerated there authorizes the current health-care bills or the cap-and-trade bill, or the bailout, or the stimulus package – all recently passed by the House of Representatives. When asked by a reporter to identify the constitutional authority for the current health-care bills, Sen. Patrick Leahy said: "We have plenty of authority, why would you say we don't have authority?" Speaker Nancy Pelosi's reply to the same question was: "Are you serious? Are you serious?" Obviously, neither one is "preserving, protecting or defending" the Constitution when they ignore its limitation of congressional power.

His former imam from the Falls Church, Virginia mosque where he once worshipped has said so, and indeed has said that, as a Muslim, Major Hasan could do nothing else other than what he did. Note this phrase from the title: “US Terrorist Army Base.” Major Hasan is a psychiatrist, so he should know that projection–literally, “throwing off on the other person”–is one of the most common defenses that people employ when they think, or especially do, things of which they should, at the very least, be ashamed. But the most damning piece of evidence was Hasan’s infamous “Grand Rounds” that he delivered back in 2007 while at Walter Reed Hospital, titled “The Koranic World View As It Relates to Muslims in the U.S. Military.” In that presentation, which any reader can view in its entirety at the above link, Hasan repeatedly cited and often quoted surah and ayah (i.e., chapter and verse) from the Koran to justify some very forthright, even brazen commentary on the relationships

POPSRachel Maddow Takes On Pete Hoekstra MADDOW: Why is it Pete Hoekstra who's taking it upon himself to tell the press that this radical cleric is having his email read by U.S. intelligence agencies? Well MadCow - because the media bows to Obama and reports only the "oh he's such a sweet guy" kind of stories - do not expect everyone to goose-step right behind you. Typical far-left attitude though - attack the messenger instead of the facts. Hasan is a home grown Islamic Terrorist - who murdered 13 on US soil while masquerading as a US Soldier. Two possible explanations: (1) Gibbsy was trying to say something else and it came out very wrong; (2) Gibbsy was in a deep, deep coma for much of the past decade. Either way, maybe "White House press secretary" isn't the optimal line of work for him. POPSStay Off of Fox News: Obama Administration Warns Democrat Strategist White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said that she had checked with colleagues who "deal with TV issues" and that they had not told people to avoid Fox. On the contrary, they had urged people to appear on the network, Dunn wrote in an e-mail. But Patrick Caddell, a Fox News contributor and former pollster for President Carter, said he had spoken to Democratic consultants who said they were told by the White House to avoid appearances on Fox. He declined to give their names. Caddell said he had not gotten that message himself from the White House. He added: "I have heard that they've done that to others in not too subtle ways. I find it appalling. When the White House gets in the business of suppressing dissent and comment, particularly from its own party, it hurts itself." POPSEven more lies, damned lies and stimulus jobs So we've now seen reports of goosing stimulus job stats in Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin, California, New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio, New Jersey, Virginia and Texas. (Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has more thoughts on the California story, as well as a round-up of some of the other state reports on stimulus chicanery.) At first the White House was owning up to "persisting errors" in the stimulus jobs data -- but when all the supposed errors seem to create the illusion of more jobs and are widespread from coast to coast, it sure looks like a deliberate ruse to hide the stimulus' clear failings. The White House needs to explain how this is happening before it turns into a full-fledged scandal.

President Bush used to break into tears when addressing soldiers and was reviled as a stone-hearted warmonger; Donald Rumsfeld was demonized for using a machine to sign notification letters to fallen soldiers’s next-of-kin. President Obama gives out rounds of virtual fist-bumps to his buds before even mentioning a slaughter of American soldiers, perpetrated by Americans, in mid-America. We desperately need an adult in the White House. Sadly, today’s press conference proves we do not have one. (Incidentally, the shooter " who killed 12 people with two handguns " is reportedly an adherent of the Religion of Peace who was incensed about being sent to war.)
