Barack Obama Gets An ‘F’ for Protecting Americans
merrie
by merrie  12-30-2009    3
In his studied desire to be the unBush by responding coolly to events like this, Obama is dangerously close to failing as a leader. Yes, it is good not to shoot from the hip and make broad assertions without the facts. But Obama took three days before speaking to the American people, emerging on Monday in between golf and tennis games in Hawaii to deliver a rather tepid address that significantly underplayed what happened. He described Abdulmutallab as an “isolated extremist” who “allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body” " phrases that indicate a legalistic, downplaying approach that alarms rather than reassures. Today’s words showed a lot more fire and desire to get on top of things " we’ll see whether Obama follows through with action. In the meantime, he went snorkelling. There has been a pattern developing with the Obama administration trying to minimise terrorist attacks. We saw it with Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, a Muslim convert who murdered

Fire Napolitano by Jonah Goldberg

Probably even fewer think it's fair that they have to take off their shoes, endure delays and madness while a known Islamic radical " turned in by his own father " can waltz onto a plane (and into the country). DHS had no role whatsoever in assuring that this bomb didn't go off. By her logic if the bomb had gone off, the system would have "worked" since it has done everything right. Napolitano has a habit of arguing that DHS is a first responder outfit. Its mission is to deal with "man-caused-disasters" after they occur. It appears she really believes it. If the White House wants to assure people that it takes the war on terror seriously (a term Robert Gibbs used this morning by the way), they could start by firing this patently unqualified hack. Director of Homeland Security Napolitano is on the case...."Gird Your Loins"

DHS Sec.Napolitano: "The System Worked" on Attempted Al-Qaeda Plane Bombing
merrie
by merrie  12-27-2009    2
For the first three months of this administration, they refused to use the word terrorism." Per Napolitano, "the system worked" (see the video, also at peekurl.com/vjvx1c2). Let's Roll 2 by Mark Steyn On December 25th 2009, the government's (post-9/11) security procedures all failed, and the only good news came once again from alert individuals: (Jasper) Schuringa, sitting in seat 20J, in the right-most section of the Airbus 330, looked to his left. "I saw smoke rising from a seat ... I didn’t hesitate. I just jumped," he said. "I searched on his body parts and he had his pants open. He had something strapped to his legs." The unassuming hero ripped the flaming, molten object " which resembled a small, white shampoo bottle " off Abdul Mutallab’s left leg, near his crotch. He said he put out the fire with his bare hands. Schuringa yelled for water, and members of the flight crew soon appeared with fire extinguishers.

If the facts remain broadly as outlined, this incident has serious implications for airline travel: A man is on the no-fly list but is allowed to board the plane. Everyone flying on an inbound long-haul flight to the United States is forced to hand over excessively large amounts of liquids and gels and put the small amounts permitted into separate plastic bags, yet the no-fly guy's material for bomb-making sails through undetected. This time the last line of defense worked. Next time, the paradise-seeking jihadist might get lucky and find himself sitting next to, say, Charlie Sheen, too immersed in a lengthy treatise on how 9/11 was an inside job to notice the smoldering socks in the next seat; or to the same kind of nothing-to-see-here crowd who thought Major Hasan's e-mails were "consistent with his research interests". UK Woman with Persistant Sexual Arousal Syndrome Hired as Cigar Humidor at Clinton Presidential Libr

Clinton, an avid cigar aficionado since puberty, claims to have 50% of the production of the famous Colribas, only 4,000 which were made, and sell for $18,846 a box of 40, or $471.15 a piece. Another rare cigar is "His Majesty's Reserve" infused with Louis XIII Cognac, at $750 a piece, and Clinton is said to have over 1500 of those, including some butts that are only half smoked that he saves 'for sentimental reasons' according to a library spokesman. His wife Hillary, will sample her cigar during a private ceremonial service for former childhood friend and adult confidant, Vince Foster during which the former first lady also celebrates the fact she didn't go to jail over the Whitewater Scandal. The unknown UK woman is said to be beside herself with ectasy over the appointment saying her biggest problem will be "not getting off in the plane when it's half way to the colonies!"

Official Hot Air: The Obama Watch
merrie
by merrie  12-1-2009    2
(actually 17.5 percent by the government's own numbers, counting "discouraged" workers who've quit looking for a job and counting part-timers seeking full-time), and the economy still losing a quarter million jobs per month, and 2.9 million jobs lost since Obama signed the $787 billion non-stimulating stimulus bill into law in February, the administration's economic agenda is basically a suicide mission that treats job creation like cigarettes -- something to discourage through increased regulations, more central controls and higher taxation. The basic Law of Demand principle in Economics-101 shows that consumers purchase less of something when the price goes up, and it's no different with employers and entrepreneurs when they're deciding on how much labor to purchase or how many jobs to create through business expansion or new start-ups.

Tibetan Sky Burial - DO NOT LOOK!! if you are sensitive
boozich
by boozich  9-14-2009    4
believe that a person re-incarnates after dying the body serves no real purpose. There is no need to preserve the body, as it is now an empty vessel. Birds may eat it, or nature may let it decompose. The body is cut in specific places, and left on a mountain top, exposing it to the elements. According to Buddhist teaching, this makes it easier for the soul of the deceased to move on from the uncertain plane between life and death onto the next life. So as barbaric as this might look, there is an actual purpose to this.

John Holdren, Obama’s Science Czar: Forced Abortions and Mass Sterilization Needed to Save the Plane
foxyarse
by foxyarse  7-16-2009    1
The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food; * Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise; * People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized. * A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force. Totalitarian regimes and unhinged people almost always have what seems internally like a reasonable justification for actions which to the outside world seem incomprehensible.

Ruled Out In-Flight Explosion--Pilots See Descending White Light
lakotahope
by lakotahope  6-4-2009
Reports indicate the plane entered the water relatively intact. Possible, an airliner's fuel tank exploded off of Long Island in the Atlantic ocean several years ago. The forward section separated from the rest of the plane. The plane, absent cockpit and the accompanying forward section, continued to fly. It even gained altitude mainly due to the resultant loss of weight. This plane was intact for much of the climb and dive sequence. Fireballs were reported in this case. This aircrafts fuselage tank ignited due to a suspected short in the wiring that runs into the tank. http://lakotahope.blogspot.com

Obama Orders Review Of New York City Air Force One Flyover
merrie
by merrie  4-29-2009    2
The flight by the VC-25, a modified Boeing Co. 747, and two F-16 fighter jets cost $328,835, Air Force spokeswoman Vicki Stein said. Three-Hour Mission That includes $300,658 for the larger plane, which flew a three-hour mission, and about $28,178 for the F-16 jets, which flew 1.8 hours each, Stein said in an e-mailed statement. Obama has directed Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina to review “how the decision was made to conduct the flight,” Gibbs said at the daily White House briefing. “Somewhere along the line, someone at the FAA should have had the foresight to realize that New Yorkers would see this stunt and think back to 9-11,” Schumer said. McCain, who ran against Obama in the 2008 presidential election, also said that the disruption and panic caused by the flight should have been foreseeable. He wrote that the apology and acceptance of responsibility from Louis Caldera, director of the White House Military Office, “rings hollow.”

the Majestic Sombrero Galaxy
HobbeLink
by HobbeLink  4-8-2009
Hubble Space Telescope has trained its razor-sharp eye on one of the universe's most stately and photogenic galaxies, the Sombrero galaxy, Messier 104 (M104). The galaxy's hallmark is a brilliant white, bulbous core encircled by the thick dust lanes comprising the spiral structure of the galaxy. As seen from Earth, the galaxy is tilted nearly edge-on. We view it from just six degrees north of its equatorial plane. This brilliant galaxy was named the Sombrero because of its resemblance to the broad rim and high-topped Mexican hat. At a relatively bright magnitude of +8, M104 is just beyond the limit of naked-eye visibility and is easily seen through small telescopes. The Sombrero lies at the southern edge of the rich Virgo cluster of galaxies and is one of the most massive objects in that group, equivalent to 800 billion suns. The galaxy is 50,000 light-years across and is located 28 million light-years from Earth.

Illegal Alien Drug Dealer Shoots HPD Officer In The Face

People granted voluntary departure benefit from not having a prior deportation on their record if they later apply for legal status. It also benefits the taxpayer by saving the cost of formal deportation proceedings, said Michael Keegan, a Homeland Security spokesman. Keegan confirmed that Alfaro left the country after serving time on a felony drug charge, saying an immigration agent saw him board a plane to El Salvador in March 2001. Alfaro was arrested again in 2002 in Pearland, and again in 2003 on a drug charge in Angleton, authorities said. Salter, 54, is in critical condition at Ben Taub General Hospital. However, officials on Tuesday said he moved two of his fingers for doctors, the first time they have asked him to respond. Before Thursday’s raid in the 9300 block of East Avenue O, an informant warned police that the house was used for narcotics activity and was a hangout for a violent gang, according to court documents.
