Virgin Girls Raped Before Execution in Iran
foxyarse
by foxyarse  12-29-2009    2
At first glance, one may think that it is the religion, Islam, that forbids the execution of virgins, but this is not so. Islam has no problem executing virgins no matter how young they are; after all if one can marry a 9 year old then certainly one should be able to execute a 9 year old. The actual problem is that virgins are promised a place in Paradise; and this is precisely what repulses the Imams in Iran. To prevent these young criminals, some as young as 9 years old, from entering Paradise, they passed a law forbidding the execution of virgins and to make sure they went to Hell, these Islamic old farts also mandated that virgins be raped married on the night before their execution to prevent their arrival in Paradise. As for the rape of female prisoners, Islam not only allows but encourages the rape of prisoners-of-war, slaves, enemies of the Islamic state as well as civil prisoners, male or female

Tough-guy John Bolton, hiding under his bed
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-26-2009    4
John Bolton and his comrades love to run around accusing anyone who doesn't want to wage more wars of being an "appeaser" and "surrendering" to Terrorists, but Bolton's cry here is the ultimate, definitive surrender: I'm too scared of the Terrorists to go about my normal life. I'm too petrified even to have my family in the same city as a terrorist trial. We can't adhere to our normal political system because the Terrorists will kill us all.

Free The Fallujah One!
merrie
by merrie  11-25-2009    1
This is frightful. The man wanted for murdering four Americans, torching and dangling their charred bodies from a bridge while a mob danced gleefully around for the cameras may have been criminally roughed up while being deprived of his liberty, to the point of suffering a grievously emfattened lip! The real question is not whether these swabs will be dragged before courts martial while U.S. counter-terrorism operations are disrupted. That goes without saying. The question is whether Mr. Abed will be allowed to pursue justice in an American court. Not just to repudiate any criminal charges he may face, but to seek redress in a civil action for the fat lip he has endured. It’s been well-established after all in KSM, Holder etal vs. Common Sense, that people who conspire overseas to kill Americans are fully entitled to U.S. constitutional rights, to include full media circus access and OJ defense protocols as established under the Ito precedent.

Ex parte Milligan
sahara
by sahara  11-19-2009
It observed further that during the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus, citizens may be only held without charges, not tried, and certainly not executed by military tribunals. After all, the writ of habeas corpus is not the right itself but merely the ability to issue orders demanding the right's enforcement. It is important to note the political environment of the decision. Post-war, under a Republican Congress, the Court was reluctant to hand down any decision that questioned the legitimacy of military courts. The President's ability to suspend habeas corpus independently of Congress, a central issue, was not addressed probably because it was moot with respect to the case at hand. Though President Lincoln suspended the writ nationwide on September 24, 1862, Congress ratified almost six months later, on March 3, 1863. Milligan was detained in 1864, well after Congress formally suspended the writ. That notwithstanding, military jurisdiction had been limited.

Because Every Circus Needs A Ringmaster
merrie
by merrie  11-13-2009    1
Well, if that’s the case, then I exactingly demand a drumhead trial followed swiftly by firing squad. However morbidly entertaining the spectacle of Obama’s hearkening to his inner Kumbayah chorus with the most ridiculous of civil liberty sops may prove to be. While attacking Islamic terror support bases has been a great recruiting tool for jihad, trying terrorist war criminals under American criminal law in open court with full American constitutional will make them like us better. True or false. Like this isn’t a three-ring circus in the making at all, but some relatively normal, if high-profile, criminal prosecution. And, incidentally, no mention of the fact that some portion of the American public might consider this prospect to be a legal abomination and a travesty of justice. Never mind that. What KSM’s entertainment value? Well, he’s got undeniable star power and a certain terrorvoire faire:

H1N1 Vaccine

The "science" behind vaccination is garbage. The consequences of getting it wrong are catastrophic. The people pushing this the hardest are the same criminals who brought you the Iraq War and the meltdown of the US economy through financial fraud. Just say "no" to being railroaded into allowing a dodgy set of chemicals, metals, and live viruses injected into your blood stream by venal idiots who have so little confidence in what they're doing they won't participate without getting total legal immunity in advance. If you or a loved one are crippled by this vaccine, you will shoulder the burden yourself. The pharmaceutical companies and the government have exempted themselves from all liability.

Emergency! Congress Debates Burying the Goldstone Report!
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  11-2-2009    2
"TELL CONGRESS TO RESPECT US AND INTERNATIONAL LAW!" "What message are we sending to the rest of the world when we grant Israel complete impunity? This legislation has very important implications beyond the war crimes committed in Gaza. Israel has responded to the report by demanding the Western powers rewrite international and US law, warning that acceptance of the Goldstone report will mean that the US’ military campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan will be subject to similar scrutiny. (Judge Goldstone has drawn a distinction – stating that his report finds that Israel deliberately targeted civilians). This legislation also ignores serious allegations that Israel has violated the US Arms Export Control Act."

Gaffney Tells Reagan "Your Father Would Be Ashamed Of You" (VIDEO)
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-23-2009    1
In June, Gaffney wrote a column insisting that President Obama might really be a Muslim. In March, Gaffney argued that "evidence" exists connecting Saddam Hussein to 9/11, the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, and the Oklahoma City bombing. Last September, Gaffney argued that Sarah Palin has learned foreign policy through "osmosis," by living in Alaska. He's argued that U.S. forces really did find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but the media covered it up. He's used made-up quotes and recommended "hanging" Democratic officials critical of the Bush administration's Iraq policy. He even believes there's "evidence" to support the "Birthers," and once recommended a military strike on Al Jazeera headquarters. ------ In other words a man with no shame invokes the specter of another man dead father to attack him. Classy!

Documentary -The CIA And The Nazis
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  10-3-2009
A History channel documentary, that gives an insight into the inner workings of what went after WW2 and led up to the cold war and how the two are inter-connected, and also what happened to the thousands of Nazi's that were brought to America by the US military. The truth is, thousands of former Nazis, some of whom committed atrocities, went to work for the United States government without the public’s knowledge. During the war, their crimes ranged from overseeing slave labor camps to sending orphans to their deaths. After the war, they were on the US payroll either as scientists in America or as intelligence agents in Europe.

US Hypocrisy Astonishes the World
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  9-8-2009    7
The exceptional “virtuous nation” does not think it is insensitive for America’s bombs to blow innocent villagers to pieces. What does the world think of the United States? The US government is like a criminal who accuses the police of his crime when he is arrested or a sociopathic abuser who blames the victim. It is a known fact that the CIA has violated US law and international law with its assassinations, kidnappings and torture. But it is not this criminal agency that will be held accountable. Instead, those who will be punished will be those moral beings who, appalled at the illegality and inhumanity of the CIA, leaked the evidence of the agency’s crimes. America uber alles! No one counts but us (and Israel). The deaths we inflict and the pain and suffering we bring to others are merely collateral damage on the bloody path to American hegemony.

Latin Americans Ditch US ‘War on Drugs’
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  8-31-2009
Reform campaigners have long argued that criminalization enriched drug cartels, fuelled savage turf wars, corrupted state institutions and filled prisons with addicts who presented no real threat to society. The US used its considerable influence to keep Latin America and the UN wedded to hardline policies which kept the focus on interdictions and jail sentences for consumers as well as dealers. The "war" was first declared by the Nixon administration. It’s about time more countries began viewing drug abuse as the medical problem it is. For some encouragement in support of this new direction look to Portugal who in 2001 decriminalized drug use and possession. Dealers are still jailed and subject to fines but users are sent to rehab and many don’t even use anymore. Drugs in Portugal: Did Decriminalize work? http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1893946,00.html

Top 50 USA War Criminals
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  8-22-2009    12
This is a pretty good list. If you don't know, btw, the idea comes from the USA having a Top 50 (Top 52) list of Iraqi alleged war criminals and putting their faces on a deck of cards (like this article does). Of course, these are just accusations. They should be arrested first, held in secret prisons for a few years, tortured and then maybe...maybe we have a trial for a few of them. That would be Bush League Justice (i.e., injustice). Maybe a few on the list are innocent or dupes...but we should let that get in the way. I note the clip calls not only for activist, U.S. appropriate officials but also for foreign courts and the International Criminal Court to get involved. That would be a good thing to lobby for, esp. for those who live outside the country, could put lobby effort there...because you can't expect a guilty nation to hold guilty people as accountable as they should...it's sort of like expecting a fox to guard the hen house.

Recommended Reading: Much Of Afghan Drug Money Going To 'Our Friends'
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  8-18-2009
"The cost of this may well go beyond the effect on the heroin shipments. When we sat down this week with Amin Tarzi, director of Middle East Studies at the Marine Corps University and a native Afghan, he said that the United States has lost credibility with the Afghan populace by allying itself with warlords who have been known across Afghanistan for many years as criminals. We have, he says, handed a golden issue to the Taliban. They first took power in the 1990's by charging that the existing government was corrupt. Now they can say it again. (Steve Inskeep co-hosts Morning Edition. This is the first in a series of "recommended reading" posts we plan that highlight stories NPR hosts have heard, read or seen that they think are worth noting.)" When you realise that the CIA are indirectly (plausible deniability) responsible for Al Qaeda's actions, and that Bin Laden was and still is a CIA asset, who was sent in by them during the cold war to destabilise Russia, then it makes a
