POPSShoes = BAD / UNHEALTHY, Barefoot = GOOD / HEALTHY “Natural gait is BIOMECHANICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for any shoe-wearing person,” wrote Dr. William A. Rossi in a 1999 article in Podiatry Management. “It took 4 million years to develop our unique human foot and our consequent distinctive form of gait, a remarkable feat of bioengineering. Yet, in only a few thousand years, and with one carelessly designed instrument, our shoes, we have warped the pure anatomical form of human gait, obstructing its engineering efficiency, afflicting it with strains and stresses and denying it its natural grace of form and ease of movement head to foot.” In other words: Feet good. Shoes bad. The shoes in the clip are Vibram Five Fingers. My feet are healthier than they've EVER BEEN in those things. I won't buy a pair of sneakers EVER AGAIN. I'm looking into leather jazz/dance shoes for work. Seriously, shoes are THE ENEMY, GO BAREFOOT. Your shoes are the equivalent of foot binding .

POPSThere is no such thing as a "healthy" pair of shoes Shoes, by their very nature, are bad for you and make you walk in unhealthy ways. I wear soft moccasins or go barefoot, and my feet have never been healthier in 40 years. I'm never again buying a pair of "normal" dress shoes or sneakers again. Footwear is a scam, and an expensive one at that.

POPSAl-Zaidi Did What We Journalists Should Have Done Long Ago NOTE: Speaking of shoes and the White House, Skip Mendler of Honesdale, PA has a great idea. He suggests that everyone who is disgusted with the outgoing Bush/Cheney administration send a shoe to the White House. Just imagine a pile up of a million smelly old running shoes in the White House mailroom! I think he's got something. Spread the word! A million shoes? That is probably a bit of an underestimate, eh?

5) POLICE # 1 While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, ‘Are you a cop?’ ‘Yes,’ I answered and continued writing the report. ‘My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?’ ‘Yes, that’s right,’ I told her. ‘Well, then,’ she said as she extended her foot toward me, ‘would you please tie my shoe? ‘ (Don’t ya love that??????) 9) DEATH While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister’s son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his fa

POPSRed Wing 9-Inch Logger Boots Red Wings are my usual standby so that I don't wear out my treasured La Sportivas too quickly. (Since I only have these two pairs of shoes, if I'm not wearing one, I'm wearing the other.) For my latest pair of Red Wings I decided to go for something longer. I wanted to be able to tuck in my pants in the underbrush, to keep out sand, insects, leeches (also an insect?) etc. These are pretty good. The smooth brown color also means that, if I pull the pants down over the top they look like any other pair of Doc Martains, so I even can get away with wearing them with brown slacks. As always, I love being able to get narrow sizes from Red Wing. Since these will mostly be trekking boots, I decided not to get ones with a steel toe, although it is available. I got tired of stubbing my toe on my own shoe while walking around town. Excellent, and also, not too hot, even though they are tall and waterproof.

POPSToes bones reveal a footwear fetish They compared the way the toe bones grew between bare footed, and shod people. Shoes produce a different walking style, where the foot is pushed off the big toe of people wearing shoes, rather than the middle toes of bare footed people. They also tested modern examples by comparing the toe bones of habitually barefooted Native American Pueblo Indians, with the shoe wearing Inuit, and found differences that supported their conclusion.
