Top Sharia Judge Issues Fatwa Authorizing Murders of Satellite TV Owners....
merrie
by merrie  9-14-2008
Fatwas are regularly issued on everyday issues, although they do not have the weight of law. One of the most viewed Arab satellite networks is Rotana, which broadcasts films and music videos. It is owned by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, a billionaire businessman and member of the Saudi royal family whom Forbes ranks as the world's 13th richest person. Several other networks are owned by Saudi princes. Al-Lihedan did not specify particular channels in his judgment.

America: State of the Nayshun
abailart
by abailart  8-10-2008    6
the real cost of America's hate-affair with knowledge is paid by children, for whom words like "learning" and "wisdom" sound biblical and words like "intelligence" elitist and judgmental. Those of us old enough to remember the sixties well remember that every classroom had at least one kid (usually an immigrant from Canada or Pakistan) whose father (usually an academic or ACLU attorney) had turned the television set into a planter. But those of us who have survived The Love Boat, Three's Company and Charlie's Angels to enter the world of Rap and shows about whinnying wannabe Britneys celebrating million dollar Sweet Sixteen parties have survived to witness the reversal of culture—a new barbarism and a vulgarity that, unlike the old vulgarity, incoherently accepts political correctness while exploiting and expanding every stereotype, every dumb opinion, every rude form of discourse. It's a barbarism fueled by technologies made available to the know-nothings by the know-hows, free speech

Indian High School bans kissing and holding hands
sohil
by sohil  6-18-2007    1
The morons behind these rules forgot one thing... "These rules are silly in today's day and age," said N. Shah, whose son attends one of the schools. "What sense are all these restrictions? If you ban anything, youngsters will make sure they find a way to do exactly that."

Fox News Not Fair and balanced
delete101
by delete101  6-12-2007
Right wing propaganda machine that needs more diversity in reporting. Ragarding "Fair and balanced", there would be an equal number of Librals and Conservatives in discussions, but this is not the case. Reports shed all Rep. and presidential matters in a good light, while they drive on the downside of issues regarding Liberals. "Fair and Balanced," that's just not the case and Americans are being fed this MISINFORMATION as truth. PROPAGANDA!!!!!

Thorne
by Thorne  12-27-2006
(the first letter's content has not been clipped due to excessive vulgarity. Taking ad hominem to a new level... ad hominem= (wikipedia) An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin, literally argument against the person), personal attack or you-too argument, involves replying to an argument or assertion by attacking the person presenting the argument or assertion rather than the argument itself. It is a logical fallacy.

Footrot Flats
Kore7
by Kore7  5-5-2006    1
Growing up in New Mexico, I happened to live next to (and be good friends with) a family from New Zealand. Of the many novel cultural items they introduced me to, nothing left as much an impression as reading their collections of this formerly famous, utterly unique comic strip about a Border Collie on a NZ farm. As a typical US kid, the foreign humor went completely over my head, I couldn't come close to understanding the native colloquialisms, I had never heard seen rugby, didn't grow up on a farm, etc... But for some reason, I was fascinated by the strips and couldn't get enough. For a comic strip it was rather dark...there was a very high prevalence of dirt, mud, manure, blood, bodily fluids, violence, implied violence, swearing, and more...what boy wouldn't be fascinated by such vulgarity? (I started to use the word "bloody" in conversations after reading those comics...until the family told me later it wasn't polite to do that. :) )
