Holder's Show Investigation Winding Down
merrie
by merrie  9-20-2009
based on the facts or on his political instincts. But a government source asserted that Holder was briefed on some of the details by advisers and that the attorney general was troubled by the material he read. Authorities have not pointed publicly to new evidence or witnesses that would strengthen the cases under review. I'm sure that, like Obama's Gitmo press conference, reopening these investigations was a feel-good announcement for Holder when he made it. Maybe the conclusion of this utterly non-politically motivated investigation will free up enough resources for Holder to voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party. As if. Charges Against ‘New Black Panthers’ Dropped
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  9-9-2009
The Obama administration won the case last month, but moved to dismiss the charges on May 15. Aren’t what these guys were charged with federal offenses? These thugs were allowed to get away with threatening voters at polling stations and hate crimes. The acting Assistant Atty General for civil rights Loretta King, a career senior executive service official named by President Obama to temporarily fill the position, ordered a delay after a meeting between political appointees and career supervisors. What could possibly have take place in that meeting to lead to dropping these despicable charges? If anyone knows, please comment and let us all know.

Party of Hope, Change and Beatdowns

 • Obama discussing ACORN support: "I don't want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I'm angry!" • Obama to his paid ACORN mercenaries (on the taxpayer dime, no less): "Hit Back Twice As Hard" Consider: this is happening now, a little more than a year before the midterm elections and three years from the Presidential election. And the precedent for tolerating voter intimidation at the polls has been set. Folks, I'll be frank. I don't have a good feeling about this.

Commission on Civil Rights Demands Answers on Voter Intimidation Case Dismissal
merrie
by merrie  6-18-2009    1
Though it had basically won the case and could have submitted a motion for default judgment against the Party and its members for failing to respond to the Division’s complaint, the Division took the unusual move of voluntarily dismissing the charges against all but the defendant who waived the nightstick. Yet even as to that remaining defendant, the only relief the Division requested was weak - an injunction prohibiting him from displaying the weapon within 100 feet of any polling place in Philadelphia. It has since been revealed that one of the defendants had been carrying credentials as a member of, and poll watcher for, the local Democratic committee. The Commissioners write that the previously announced efforts by the Justice Department to play an aggressive role in enforcing voting rights “ring hollow if they are not accompanied by swift, decisive action to prosecute obvious violators.”

ACORN, voter fraud and John Edwards
caoilfhionn
by caoilfhionn  7-27-2007    1
There is a youtube of John Edwards and ACORN there; the clip didn't grab it. ACORN has been around for quite a while. It’s been “implicated in numerous reports of fraudulent voter registration, vote-rigging, voter intimidation, and vote-for-pay scams during the 2004 election”, and “maintains close ties to organized labor.” It’s a private company that gets money from a number of foundations, including money from Ben & Jerry of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. They are the “Largest radical group in America, with 175,000 dues-paying member families, and more than 850 chapters in 70 US cities”.
