POPS ChotuKool: the $69 fridge for rural India To achieve its efficiency the ChotuKool doesn't use a compressor, instead running on a cooling chip and a fan similar to those used in computers, so like computers it can run on batteries. It's engineering credentials are further boosted by the fact that it has only 20 parts, as opposed to more than 200 parts in a normal refrigerator. The ChotuKool was co-designed with village women to assure its acceptability, and is distributed by members of a micro-finance group.

POPSObamaCare's Rationed Death and The Death of Representative Republic
..... and the parties who are going to be assaulted first are the elderly who will be denied care in nursing homes, hospices and doctors visits and told to just go climb on an ice sheet and float to their death for the good of the village as the Inuit's did long ago. That is what awaits Americans as every American is going to need care sooner or later, and for those who think that the rich will get care, the patricians had better learn a lesson of fact, that when the system breaks down, as government is bankrupt, then places like the Mayo Clinic are not developing advanced treatments for the rich, and the rich people find out in 5 years that they too are being left to die. Americans will now be made criminals in not paying into this butcher system and this blogger will refuse to be a part of any system as this. Oddly if Keith Olbermann holds his moral ground, we will be in an Obama concentration camp charged with the same crimes of failure to hand over our money to a

POPSWhat happened on 1 Jan 2007? RAY SUAREZ: Hundreds of Iraqis spent this New Year's Day protesting Saddam Hussein's execution, which happened early Saturday morning. Demonstrators marched through the streets of Samarra, defying a curfew. They fired guns, chanted pro-Saddam slogans, and vowed revenge. Saddam was buried Sunday outside Tikrit in the village where he was born. We'll have more on Iraq after Saddam, following this news summary. The U.S. began the new year with a grim milestone in Iraq, as the U.S. death toll passed 3,000. At least 113 American troops died in December, making that the deadliest month for U.S. troops in all of 2006. More than 22,000 Americans have been wounded since the war began. The United Nations has estimated 28,000 Iraqi civilians were killed in the first 10 months of 2006.

POPSFirst Jesus-era house discovered in Nazareth
The archaeological find shows how different it was 2000 years ago: There were no Christians or Muslims, the Jewish Temple stood in Jerusalem and tiny Nazareth stood near a battleground between Roman rulers and Jewish guerrillas. The Jews of Nazareth dug camouflaged grottos to hide from Roman invaders, said archaeologist Yardena Alexandre, excavations director at the Israel Antiquities Authority. But the hamlet was so far off the beaten path that the caves were apparently not needed, she said. Based on clay and chalk shards found at the site, the dwelling appeared to house a "simple Jewish family," Alexandre added, as workers carefully chipped away at mud with small pickaxes to reveal stone walls. "This may well have been a place that Jesus and his contemporaries were familiar with," Alexandre said. A young Jesus may have played around the house with his cousins and friends. "It's a logical suggestion." The discovery so close to Christmas pleased local Christians.

POPSExclusive: Elite Special Forces in Afghanistan With Fox Embed
“There’s a lot of different tools in our tool kit,” the Major said, “to influence the populace and to win over their support.” They also work closely with Afghan soldiers and elite commandos. Something that has gained in importance, as well. The Major and his colleagues have done that in South America, Africa and Asia. “We’ve already done that around the world,” he told Fox News. “Coming here and working with the government is nothing new to us.” Officials say high-level, irreconcilable Taliban and Al Qaeda figures still have to be killed or captured. Which is something the Major and his men have no problem with. Special Forces numbers have surged to a reported 5,000 in Afghanistan, with more expected -- if they clear the
