POPSTwitter, the next big thing? Bigger is gettting the current big thing right.
David Berlind in his recent post to his Berlind's Testbed blog, recalls how he was drug into the last two computing revolutions by his colleage, Dan Farber. He then talks about how Twitter, or stuff like Twitter, is the next big thing. In the paragraph before that he talks about the multi-medium publishing story (see excerpt below). I believe we are getting closer to delivering on that story. But there is much that needs to be done before it is complete. Especially in the area of monetizing all this stuff. We have to figure out how to count it, we have to understand the connection between the content and the user, and we have to do a great job of understanding how to deliver relevance. Said another way, the publishing is the stupid-easy part. What is next is not more short messages... that will be helpful. POPSCNN's Anderson Cooper has a podcast Well, they're about a year later than many of us had thought, but big media is finally waking up to podcasts and rolling on in. It'll be interesting to see if the little guys survive the advent of major media podcasts.
