Do your teeth resemble those of a cat, dog, or shark?
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  11-16-2009
If you want to eat "some" meat - go ahead. If you want to eat meat two or three times a day, then you are a fast-food junkie and will have more than enough health problems and you may be immune to hearing anything without a five-meat sub in your hand - grin. If more reasonable, look in the mirror - smile big or say yowie! Does you mouth look like a dog's, or cat's set of teeth? A Great White Shark? Get the point? You are not designed to eat meat two or three times a day. Eatiing stuff - regularly - that you are not designed for can't be good for you or the planet, can it?

Imagine world without suffering...
aklimento
by aklimento  10-8-2009
...And this world is just step away. Away from killing. Animal, birds, fish... whoever we (most of us now) are eating. God (Mother Nature, Karma, whatever it is) not forgiving us for breaking its rules to live in harmony with surrounding world and punishing us for our ignorance. If only diabetes! Whole metabolic syndrome with depressions and host of mood disorders, disfiguring obesity, heart failure as direct result. Everything starting from what we putting in our mouths. Far from everything what we can chew and swallow can be good for your body! Watch what you eating and drinking! Educate yourself. You will be terrified what we doing now and inevitably come to the vegan lifestyle, where is no place for cruelty, diseases, tricks and sufferings.

Out With the Old, In With the Raw
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  9-11-2009
In general, if you are craving crap you are likely to be deficient in some area of nutrition. Eating enough greens will solve this problem. Most smoothie bars are serving up so much sugar you may as well be at a Dairy Queen. There are tons of green smoothie recipes online and in books like Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko to help you keep it fresh in the kitch. Get your green smoothie in often and feel the difference. Here’s one from the article: Ghetto Green Smoothie • Fresh spinach • Bananas • Water Fill your blender up ¾ full with the fresh spinach. Add two bananas and just enough water to get it to blend down (the idea is to get as much greens in while maintaining your taste preference). Blend and taste. Too sweet? Add more greens. Too swampy? Add more bananas. You can also add ice or use frozen bananas for a frostier blend. More nutritional goodness at the site.

Planet Vegan is Waiting for You to Land - Grin
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  7-20-2009
It may be a bit difficult to switch from being a once a day or more often meat eater but your better physical and mental health will be well worth it. you will also have a bit more money at the end of the week for new iTunes expenditures or whatever. Enjoy. Oh? Why a bit difficult? Your body will crave some of the toxins in the meat for a while and habit is habit.

Antibiotics given to Animals Ends Up in Fresh and Canned Vegitables
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  1-27-2009
Bummer! There's just no getting away from facts that industrialized animal farming has bad effects on people, and the planet. When there were thousands of small farmers, instead of hundreds of mega-industrialized farms animals did not get so stressed and disease prone. Forget if you are a vegan, it still gets to you. Let's hear it for going back to small farms!

"Large Fella" Bikes Back to Life
mugofcoffee

50 pounds in the first four months – and they kept on coming off. He'll be quick to point out that he wasn't “dieting”; he was changing his life. Permanently. He and his family left the east coast for Minneapolis, largely for its reputation as a cycling haven. Thus far Cutshall has dropped to about 230 pounds; he estimates that he'll plateau around 180 but says, “"It's not about a goal weight," he said. "I'm just doing what's healthy for my body, and the results will follow."

Flexitarianism

"Given the environmental, cruelty and health impact of a meat-based diet, going vegan is best, going vegetarian is good, and being a flexitarian is like smoking two packs of cigarettes instead of ten, beating one pig down the slaughter ramp instead of two, and pouring a pint of gasoline down a drain instead of pouring down a gallon."

Vegan Dry Uncheese Mix
nattykhoo
by nattykhoo  8-19-2007
Comments: Wow is all I can say. This stuff rocks. Seasoning salt is just a mixture of salt and various spices. If you look in the spice section at the grocery store, you should have no problem finding one. I use Vege-Sal, which is more of a health store version of seasoning salt. The nutritional yeast gives it a cheesy flavor. on pasta so it was like alfredo sauce. I'm gonna try it on veggies-steamed broccoli. I highly recommend this stuff; it was fast, easy and tasty! make sure you use a whisk when heating the mix up on the stove to get the clumps out. It thickens pretty fast so watch it carefully. just like that nacho cheese sauce from the conveneince store but so much better This is so good! Just to make as much as you need! Very easy to take with you aswell, just add some water and pasta = the best mac&cheese I have ever had since becoming vegan. I've tried quite a few recipes and none have gotten the consistency right like this one
