Strange suicide from tylenol
aklimento
by aklimento  8-2-2008
Hmmmm...not a word about how the two senators who could have impeded the enactment of the so-called "Patriot Act", namely Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, were the only two politicians who received anthrax letters and had to vacate their offices, allowing this abomination to sail through. NY governor George Pataki got the letter also. He have talk about tick layer of cement dust in downtown Manhattan.

Apparent Suicide In Anthrax Case
merrie
by merrie  8-1-2008
Bruce E. Ivins, a scientist who helped the FBI investigate the 2001 mail attacks, was about to face charges. The death -- without any mention of suicide -- was announced to Ivins' colleagues at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, or USAMRIID, through a staffwide e-mail. The anthrax mailings killed five people, crippled national mail service, shut down a Senate office building and spread fear of further terrorism after the Sept. 11 attacks. The extraordinary turn of events followed the government's payment in June of a settlement valued at $5.82 million to a former government scientist, Steven J. Hatfill, who was long targeted as the FBI's chief suspect despite a lack of any evidence that he had ever possessed anthrax. Ivins, employed as a civilian at Ft. Detrick, earlier had attracted the attention of Army officials because of anthrax contaminations that Ivins failed to report for five months.

Newly described 'dragon' protein could be key to bird flu cure
Silkweaver
by Silkweaver  7-15-2008    1
This unexpected relationship between the two subunits could inspire a number of different therapies or vaccines for H5N1 that rely on muzzling the "dragon's" jaws with another molecule or chemical compound that would block the PB1 subunit's access to the PA site, according to Joachimiak. "If we can put a bit in the dragon's mouth, we can slow or even potentially someday stop the spread of avian flu," he said. "Since we are talking about a relatively small protein surface area, finding a way to inhibit RNA replication in H5N1 seems very feasible."

Somebody Should Do Something About All the Problems
papananook
by papananook  7-1-2008
DNA fingerprinting—that's what they're doing now. And still strawberries at Bergmann's are $2.99 a quart. It's ludicrous. It's as if we live in the Dark Ages. Cloned genes and fiber optics, but the cat still goes into heat and scratches up my new mahogany coffee table. I kicked that thing as hard as I could with my good leg and it still came back screeching and wagging its fanny like a Broadway showgirl. Isn't there something someone can do about that? I'm sure with all the vaccines and hybrid cells and carbon dating equipment we've got today someone can take a minute to whip up a pill I can force down Pumpkin's throat so I have one decent thing in this shoebox house that I worked like a dog at the phone company for 27 years in order to afford. These are the good years for me? Huh! I'm still watering my flowers and hosing off my driveway. Where is the fiber optics in that? How's superconductivity helping me when my new cotton housedress shrank up to nothing the first time I pu

Brucellosis Found in Wyoming Cattle
bookchick49
by bookchick49  6-22-2008
Was researching 'brucellosis' and ironically this article showed up as a recent update in my Google search. What I have read up to the point of noticing this article is that brucellosis is rare in humans in the U.S. primarily because there are vaccines that are administered to the animals. The most likely human candidates to acquire this bacterial infection aside from animals are lab workers, veterinarians and ranchers; and THEN the people they have come into 'personal' contact with via fluid transmissions. Furthermore, brucellosis can be acquired via inhalation which is why it is considered a bio-terrorism agent.

Remember the moble WMD labs in Iraq that turned out to be for weather balloons, or the chemical weapon material stockpiles that were in fact insecticides, or the Cuban biological weapons lab that was actually a lab that made vaccines--now meet the latest US red herring on another "dangerous enemy" of the US. The Iraninin/Venerzulean atomic connection that is about producing bicycles.

Physicians Create List of Who Will Live and Die
RecordSage
by RecordSage  5-14-2008
Who is Out of Luck? It's being recommended that every hospital choose a triage team to decide who will get lifesaving treatment and who will not, but the guidelines already spell out some people who are supposed to be denied care. They include: * People older than 85 * People with severe trauma, such as critical injuries from car crashes and shootings * Severely burned patients older than 60 * People with severe mental impairment, such as advanced Alzheimer's disease * People with severe chronic disease, such as advanced heart failure, lung disease or poorly controlled diabetes
