POPSForgiveness in Medicine Admitting one's mistake requires humility and sacrifice, as well as trust that the offended party won't use their advantage (in court or otherwise). To quote Larry the cucumber "it sure feels good to be forgiven!"

POPSPilots question speed sensors' troubled history Barr, the USC aviation safety professor, said serious efforts to correct safety problems in the airline industry tend to increase in direct proportion to the number of people killed, while too little action is often taken in response to incidents in which no one is killed. It even has a name: blood priority. "The more blood that is spilled, the more corrective action is taken. The less blood that is spilled, the less corrective action that's taken," Barr said.

POPSThe Faces of Meth Many of you have probably seen this. We here in Oregon certainly have. It is a little old now, but effects of this poison remain the same. I have been told by a Deputy, that new ones are to be added next year. If you have friends or relatives who think that this won't happen to them, PLEASE assure them that It CAN & WILL ! The one gal who had been doing it over 15 years has been living on borrowed time. Most Meth users have a life expectancy of 5 years.

POPSNew Urbanism and Grayfield Development A nice article from American City & County. Most of this article talks about Duany Plater-Zyberk and some specific New Urbanism projects, but I'm interested in the comments about grayfields. I think New Urbanism works best when it can be an infill project. However, I disagree with the anti-Smart Growth professors from USC that greenfield New Urbanism does not have merit: even if you are building a bit of sprawl, if you use a compact form like New Urbanism, you will reduce vehicle trips and reduce the carbon footprint.

POPSKatie Couric’s Curveballs and Softballs Katie Couric won a journalism award recently, which blew me away until I realized who gave the award. The Norman Lear Center at USC, a left-wing funded org rooted deeply in Hollywood’s liberal psyche. She was ‘awarded’ for her hard-hitting questions to Alaska governor Sarah Palin during last years presidential election campaign. But where was she democratic VP candidate Joe Biden flubbed on his knowledge of US history? Granted this award does not carry the recognition and prestige of a Pulitzer, Chancellor Award or a DuPont Award, but to give such a lack luster, talking head and television faceplate like Katie Couric an ego boost by telling her she’s doing an award winning job of news reporting is simply setting her up for a fall. I mean seriously, Katie Couric won an award for reporting excellence?! The standards for journalism have truly fallen to new depths.

POPSJohn Ziegler Arrest at Couric Award Ceremony for Palin Interview John went to USC to witness and ask questions about Katie Couric getting the Walter Cronkite journalism award for her interview of Sarah Palin. He intended to also give away copies of his film but was literally prevented from doing so. He did not go there hoping for or expecting any sort of confrontation, especially with law enforcement. He was simply shocked and horrified by what happened there, as should every freedom loving American. He did absolutely nothing wrong and was handcuffed, detained and literally abused by law enforcement at the event. The video speaks for itself, John will have plenty to say about this very disturbing episode. youtube video (7:58)

POPSMuslim Mob Drags Christian Women through Streets and Breaks Teeth This muslim mob obviously misunderstands islam otherwise they wouldn't have gone berserk after a muslim woman eloped with a Christian man. "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. " http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/quran/005.qmt.html#005:051 Jeeeeeeez. Yeah I guess Christians aren't persecuted right? Obama said what?....Never be at war with Islam? F that.

POPSThe Tragic Story of Todd Marinovich Continues...
If for some reason you were wondering who was professional sports most confounding, bizarre, enigmatic, and down right depressing figure you need look no further than Todd Marinovich. This latest arrest further underscores how tragic his his life has become. His story is too long to tell but the short version goes something like this: Son of a USC football team captain and national champion; he is raised in a virtual bubble bred for athletic achievement. Top high school QB in the country and 1987's U.S. HS scholar athlete. Recruited by Stanford, BYU, Miami, USC, etc. Can't miss prospect. Enters USC and as red-shirt freshman kills it, beats Michigan in Bo Schembechlers final game. Chapter two: trouble starts, leaves after soph season. Drafted 1st round by Oakland. Downhill from there. Several false starts again in B league football, addiction, accusations of rape, jail, street life, etc. If your in the mood for a immediate buzz kill you can read the deets here: http://tinyurl.com/cvxcd

POPSLucrezia Borgia, falsely accused . . continues (more at source): “This is a classic case of seeing only what you’re looking for and not getting the whole picture,” Ghirardo says of the centuries-old mystery surrounding how Lucrezia accumulated her vast personal wealth. Ghirardo notes that historians have long dismissed Lucrezia as stupida because no record exists of her collecting art or antiquities.

POPSAt Least Texas Isn't In the Mix! You know, I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike UT more, but Mack Brown has managed to accomplish that. What a whiner! And it really is just them; as much as I would hate it, I would not begrudge Utah a split title.
