The degrading effects of terrorism fears

Demands that genuinely inept government officials be held accountable are necessary and wise, but demands that political leaders ensure that we can live in womb-like Absolute Safety are delusional and destructive. Yet this is what the citizenry screams out every time something threatening happens: please, take more of our privacy away; monitor more of our communications; ban more of us from flying; engage in rituals to create the illusion of Strength; imprison more people without charges; take more and more control and power so you can Keep Us Safe.

Harvard: Swine Flu Pandemic Oversold; Fear Mongering Gov't To Blame?
jatfla

A little speculation here as to motives. Mine leans more to promoting the need for the universal health care system that was/is being forced upon us. As the article says, this is not to minimize the deaths of those who died from this strand of flu. All of us need to be vigilant and careful; but not for one minute did I believe this was going to be a global disaster. I'm not the brightest bulb in the box but discernment and common sense need to abound.

Obama gives International Police immunity from Constitution and Jurisdiction in US

exempted Interpol from disclosure of archived document in response to Freedom of Information Act requests filed by U.S. citizens. Think very carefully about what you just read: Obama has given an international law enforcement organization that is accountable to no other national authority the ability to operate as it pleases within our own borders, and he has freed it from the most basic measure of official transparency and accountability, the FOIA. giving Interpol free rein to act within this country could subject U.S. military, diplomatic, and intelligence personnel to the prospect of being taken into custody and hauled before the International Criminal Court as "war criminals."

Self-defense on an airliner is admirable but not something to depend upon for security - neither is requiring full body scans. Why? Think about it? We have had nine years to launch some sort of effective national homeland security system. We still don't have one that can even tell us who is who working at airport, seaports, land border crossings. Several billion have been spent on consultants and tests and - nada. The objective of terrorists is to make themselves appear much more powerful than they are to convince politicians and voters to take actions that will exaggerate the importance of the terrorists. Fully fund and cooperate with Interpol to search out and arrest the infrastructure for illiegal actions they are all involved with.

The First 12 Months of Obama Captivity 12.28.2009
merrie
by merrie  12-28-2009    3
 1. With their bogus jobs' and economy "stimulus packages," Obama and the US Congress continue to bleed the American people dry of all of their money and resources. In actual fact, the actions from Obama show that he has followed and is following the advice of one of his mentors, Saul Alinsky, in destroying the US middle-class by destroying its private sector companies and, therefore, its jobs. Forget about these jobs coming back, folks. As predicted, unemployment rates have risen and will continue to rise. The mission of The Obama is to destroy all that is the USA. As I wrote when the first stimulus package was announced, and other well-known entities have since picked up on it, it was created and is now being used as, yet, another Marxist-Democrat slush fund. 2. On 17 December 2009 with Executive Order 12425, Barack Hussein Obama gave foreign police force INTERPOL immunity from Congressional action and the US Constitution's Fourth Amendment

Sebelius Praises Abortion Accounting Trick in Senate Bill
merrie
by merrie  12-22-2009    2
SEBELIUS : And I would say that the Senate language, which was negotiated by Senators Barbara Boxer and Patty Murray, who are very strong defenders of women’s health services and choices for women, take a big step forward from where the House left it with the Stupak amendment, and I think do a good job making sure there are choices for women, making sure there are going to be some plan options, and making sure that while public funds aren’t used, we are not isolating, discriminating against, or invading the privacy rights of women. That would be an accounting procedure, but everybody in the exchange would do the same thing, whether you’re male or female, whether you’re 75 or 25, you would all set aside a portion of your premium that would go into a fund, and it would not be earmarked for anything, it would be a separate account that everyone in the exchange would pay.

Barack Obama's Rule by EPA Decree Is a coup d'etat Against Congress, Made In Britain - ClimateGate
merrie
by merrie  12-19-2009    2
In the first place, regulation can be challenged in a way that laws cannot. So the EPA’s proposed ruling on so-called “Greenhouse Gases” can be opposed extensively with litigation, to the point that the ruling might not yet be in force when Obama demits office. In the second place, the EPA is funded by Congress. So, if the Agency is being used to bypass or neuter Congress, why should legislators not play hardball and retaliate by cutting off its funding? The EPA may look formidable, but its situation is rather as if Rommel were buying the fuel for his tanks from the Allies. But what is of compelling interest on this side of the pond is the way in which the bullets to shoot down American democracy were made in Britain. The trail is not hard to follow.

They weren't mad when George Bush and Dick Cheney pulled troops out of Afghanistan that was harboring the actual terrorists who did attack us. 0bamaCare (The Mother of Public Options) Draws Nearer
merrie
by merrie  12-13-2009    1
The latest Senate compromise formed a new “Medicare buy-in” to allow people aged 55-64 to buy the healthcare coverage currently available only to senior citizens. It came at the expense of the public option. Some liberals would fight to the finish to retain the public option, a watered-down version of which was passed in the House bill. But most Democrats are falling in line with the thinking of Rahm Emanuel, Mr Obama’s pugilistic chief-of-staff, who said: “The only non-negotiable principle here is success.” Washington insiders bel ieve a historic healthcare act would give Mr Obama and the Democratic party a boost ahead of next year’s mid-term elections. But polls, which show mixed support for healthcare reform, suggest the reality may not be so simple.

"They may say this is not going to work, start over.'" Yes indeed. Start over. Send Sen. Reid home to be ousted from the Senate by his state. Let the air out of Sen. Pelosi's head and put some actual medical people, insurance companies, doctors on the committees and make some practical changes that will actually help our citizens...NOT throw the entire Health Care community into disarray and bankruptcy. Start with Tort Reform if anyone is truly serious. When Durbin admits he's 'in the dark'; the one whose been in on the secret meetings, then you know it's really, really bad.

Hypocrisy Abounds at Climate Change Summit
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  12-9-2009    1
This hypocrisy will once again be on full display at the United Nations summit on climate change which will soon take place in Copenhagen. As world leaders gather to try to find ways for the rest of us to cut emissions, they themselves will be flown in private jets and driven in limos. So far more than twelve hundred limos have been ordered for the event with more expected, and according to airport officials in Copenhagen more than one hundred and forty private jets have already been chartered for the event in which the world is supposed to take a hard stand against emissions. So as our fearless leaders gather to lecture the third world and normal citizens of western countries how they are killing the planet, they themselves will be creating more than forty thousand tonnes of emissions, which is the same amount a city of 500,000 would produce in the same amount of time. Sometimes irony and hypocrisy aren’t strong enough words.

Likewise you would think all the $$ we keep sending abroad to keep countries from fighting one another would be reallocated to help citizens here. I feel for all the kids that are suffering through this and should not have to be. I realize that some people got in way over their heads, but many would have survieed if they had not lost jobs. All the $$ they paid in taxes and unemployment, etc and the help they get from government is almost none, yet we keep shipping money outside the US before helping our own citizens. I watched Durbin today hammer against the American Insurance companies saying that the Government could offer the citizens a much more fair and balanced option for their health care. His main concern seemed to be the private insurances and drug company's profits. So this really is about a full-frontal attack on the free-market system, capitalism, and our choice as to who we want to entrust our insurance/health care coverage to.
