POPSHamas: Holocaust is a Zionist Lie Hamas condemned the UN saying it planned to teach Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip about the Holocaust, saying "We refuse to let our children study a lie invented by the Zionists."

POPSI'm Confused...... Why is it only Israels closure of boarders that is an issue? Why does no one at the UN decry the Egyptian governments' closed boarders? Now, Egypt, an Arab country who should share the ideals of the Palestinians, isn't allowing much through to Gaza...why? Is it possible that they DON'T share a common bond? When will the UN demand an explanation from Egypt and try to force it, a sovereign government, to open boarders with a country it probably doesn't trust? If Egypt trusted the Palestinian government, they would have allowed any goods, services, supplies in via their boarders...but they don't. Food for thought, huh?

POPSIsrael Now Admits it Used White Phosphorous in Gaza
Their denials always were incredible given the numerous eye witnesses, but Israel is finally admitting it used white phosphorous in civilian areas. The chain of evidence and denial went as follows: January 5 The Times reports that telltale smoke has appeared from areas of shelling. Israel denies using phosphorus January 8 The Times reports photographic evidence showing stockpiles of white phosphorus (WP) shells. Israel Defence Forces spokesman says: "This is what we call a quiet shell - it has no explosives and no white phosphorus" January 12 The Times reports that more than 50 phosphorus burns victims are taken into Nasser Hospital. An Israeli military spokesman "categorically" denies the use of white phosphorus January 15 Remnants of white phosphorus shells are found in western Gaza. The IDF refuses to comment on specific weaponry but insists ammunition is "within the scope of international law" January 16 The United Nations Relief and Works Agency headquarters are hi

POPSPress in Palestine At least 15 gunmen stormed the offices of the local Sawt Al-Hurriya (Voice of Freedom) radio station” in Gaza City and forced a popular, but anti-Hamas, radio host “to accompany them to an unknown destination.” A week before, a Palestinian journalist working for WAFA (a sort of Palestinian AP) “was severely beaten by masked gunmen who stormed his office and destroyed all the equipment and furniture.” n March 2007, Palestinian gunmen fired 14 bullets into the armored car of a United Nations official. “This is unprecedented, to shoot at a clearly marked U.N. vehicle with a U.N. flag flying in broad daylight,” said the official, John Ging. Ironically, Ging was Gaza director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA), the largest nongovernmental employer in Gaza. It supplies food, medicine, and schools for about 70 percent of Gaza’s 1.5 million people.

POPS"Victorius but vilified" continues (full through link): Mr Gunness used unusually strong language. But the call came at the culmination not only of a rising civilian death toll but also a series of attacks on UN installations and, in some cases, the people who were under the UN's care at the time. The most lethal of these was an earlier shelling in which 43 internally displaced Gazans, sheltering in the Fakhura UNRWA school in Jabalya, were killed on 6 January.

POPSU.N. Agency Runs School That Employed Islamic Jihad Members
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill say they are also concerned that terrorist propaganda is being taught in UNRWA schools. A notebook captured by Israeli officials at the UNRWA school in the Kalandia refugee camp several years ago glorified homicide bombers and other terrorists. Called "The Star Team," it profiled so-called "martyrs," Palestinians who had died either in homicide bombings or during armed struggle with Israel. On the book's back cover was printed the UNRWA emblem, as well as a photo of a masked gunman taking aim while on one knee. Though he cautioned that estimates are tricky because the identity of an attacker is not always made public, Halevi estimated that over 60 percent of homicide bombers were educated in UNRWA schools. By comparison, roughly 25-30 percent of Palestinian students in the West Bank, the origin of almost all homicide bombers since the start of the intifada in 2000, attend UNRWA schools, according to the agency's figures.

POPSUN Undersec'y for Humanitarian Affairs on Gaza, Jan. 8, 2009 An extremely disturbing picture of the situation on the ground for Gazan civilians. One-third of the dead are children. Aid convoys and Red Cross teams have been prevented from carrying out humanitarian missions and have periodically been fired upon. Much of the civilian population of Gaza is without food, water, medical care, or power.

POPSSex, Security Control. No Birth Control for prisoners/guards The ruling of the International Court of Justice has not resulted in a dramatic change in the situation: of the 61 passages in the fence, only 26 are open all year round for the use of Palestinian farmers, while less than half the farmers enjoy direct and regular access to their lands; the gates are open only 64 percent of the planned and declared time; in 72 percent of the communities there have been complaints about routine humiliation and verbal harassment on the part of the soldiers; 24 percent of the communities complained of damage caused to produce as a result of being refused entry to agricultural areas; and 85 percent of traditional roads have been ruined and cut off by the fence.
