POPSLou Jing, China, and Expressions of Racism Online (Updated) Much more at clipsource. ver at ChinaSMACK, they detail the racist abuse heaped on Lou Jing. A small sample: Jesse_Q: Her mother’s skin is pretty thick. At the time finding foreigners was indeed a fad, but you still can’t pick blacks! 滢滢: Kao. Fucked by a black. How come a zebra wasn’t born…?{/quote]

POPSGuantanamo Ex-prisoners Get Jpbs in Bermuda! It's nice to hear that these four guys, who were almost certainly arrested by the U.S. without reason, as were many others, are at least having a few days 'holiday'. And they're Uighurs, repressed by the Chinese! Who knows what will happen to them next!?

POPSBin Laden Worked for US Till 9/11 According to Sibel: This started more than a decade-long illegal, covert operation in Central Asia by a small group in the US intent on furthering the oil industry and the Military Industrial Complex, using Turkish operatives, Saudi partners and Pakistani allies, furthering this objective in the name of Islam. Eric Margolis, one of the best reporters in the West on matters of Central Asia, stated that the Uighurs in the training camps in Afghanistan up to 2001: "were being trained by Bin Laden to go and fight the communist Chinese in Xinjiang, and this was not only with the knowledge, but with the support of the CIA, because they thought they might use them if war ever broke out with China." And also: "That illustrates Henry Kissinger's bon mot that the only thing more dangerous than being America's enemy is being an ally"

POPSCrude in most every way "oil-rich" Well, that tells us about all we need to know about the initiative to repopulate the region with Han Chinese, as well as the lengths they're willing to go to in protecting that investment.

POPS Protocols Of The Elders Of __________? Add this ado to earth's other hot spots like Darfur, "Palestine," Iran, South Lebanon, Afghanistan, Chechen province in Russia, Côte d'Ivoire, Mindanao Island (Philippines), Somalia, et. al., and you start to notice a pattern. One, no Jews in sight. And two, while the NY Times may not want you to know, adherents to Islam are so often an essential part of the mix. A mere coincidence, or could it be true: The Protocols of The Elders of Islam? Allah Hallavah!

POPSChina: At Least 140 Dead in Xinjiang Province Clashes + Leaked Twitter Photos The communist authorities who built the so-called Great Firewall of China raced to stamp out video, images and words posted by internet users about the unrest in Xinjiang, which left at least 140 people dead. Twitter and YouTube appeared to be blocked in China late on Monday afternoon, while leading Chinese search engines would not give results for 'Urumqi', the city in Xinjiang where the riots occurred.

POPSUighurs imprisoned in Guantanamo since 2002: China dictating policy to the US ? These poor men, Muslims from China - unjustly imprisoned - GW Bush acknowledged this in 2003 - and now exiled with nothing but the clothes they stand up in. This is going to be an increasing common price of US debt - their debt holders will be able to dictate US foreign policy, or threaten to dump their bonds or demand payment, effectively destroying the US economy. Ironically this is the same tactic used by the US against the UK and France over the Suez conflict. They intended to fight Egypt over control of the Suez Canal, but the US said `get your military out of there, or else` . All troops were withdrawn within 2 weeks ! I heard on the radio today, that this was the exact moment when the British Empire died. Not a bad thing, of course; but China, the Saudis and oil producers hold most of the US debt - so look out world, there could be interesting times ahead :)

POPSFive New Reasons (and One Old One) Why We Must Close Guantanamo Now Reason #4: U.S. Federal Courts -- and U.S. Prisons -- Are Perfectly Equipped to Handle Terrorism Suspects So what about those prisoners who aren't innocent? Surely of the 239 "detainees" still held at Guantánamo at least some need to be kept locked up, right? Sure. And like terrorism suspects that came before them, these men should be tried in a court of law -- a real, legitimate court of law, not the kangaroo courts cobbled together by then-Vice President Dick Cheney and his chief of staff David Addington in the weeks after Sept. 11.

POPSNEVER AGAIN ~ Keep Terrorists Out Of America Act
WASHINGTON -- Bowing to political pressure, Senate Democrats said Tuesday that they planned to withhold funding to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, until President Barack Obama presents a plan for handling its 241 detainees. Democrats also plan to prevent the administration from spending any money to transfer Guantanamo detainees to the U.S. during the current fiscal year. Both restrictions are contained in an amendment to a $91.3 billion measure funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; the amendment is expected to be approved in the Senate as early as Wednesday. The issue of Guantanamo's closure has been a distraction for the Democrats since Mr. Obama several weeks ago requested $80 million to wind down operations at the prison for terrorism suspects by next January. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that he agrees Congress should receive a more detailed plan and that the president will provide more specifics in a speech Thursday.

POPS Senator Reid's Gitmo Truth Now remember the 17 Uighurs at Gitmo. They have admitted to being trained and committed terrorists. Incredibly, a military review board said they are no threat to America when they are all associates of the East Turkistan Islamic Movement. The ETIM has a long relationship with al Qaeda and its founder swore allegiance to Osama bin Laden. On April 9, 2009, the Obama administration added the ETIM’s current leader, Abdul Haq, to the Treasury Department’s terrorist list. As they pose a direct threat to Chinese businessmen and diplomats here, who wants to risk becoming collateral damage?

POPSAfter Detention, Where Can The Uighurs Go? The Obama administration is now under pressure to show its willingness to take some detainees into the United States as it tries to persuade other countries to do the same. But such a move is likely to be opposed by military groups and communities where the Uighurs would be resettled.

POPSDetainees Cleared for Landing ... and You Get to Pay for It! and we've got an attorney general and a president who are simultaneously planning to embed in the United States jihadists who've gotten paramilitary training from al-Qaeda. Meantime, Republicans are squawking, understandably, over the administration's reckless determination to close Gitmo without a plan for what to do about the 240 enemy combatants still held there. I would suggest they focus their energy on the following: 1. What are the standards used by the administration to "clear" an enemy combatant for release? 2. What are the names of the 30 who have been cleared so far, and what was the basis for holding them as enemy combatants in the first place (e.g., the evidence that came out of their combatant status review tribunals)? POPS Welfare for Freed Gitmo Detainees? Does this mean that the Obama administration is planning on giving some freed Guantanamo detainees a stipend? It sure appears that way. So, not only is the Obama administration planning on freeing some detainees on U.S. soil, it is also going to pay them to live here. Amazing. Who would have thought that we would see the day when detainees who were once labeled enemy combatants would be receiving welfare? The Uighur detainees are cited, over and over again, as the types of detainees who can be safely released into the U.S. This conclusion has been reached through a combination of specious reasoning and ignorance. Even if you don’t think that we should lock them up and throw away the key, do we really want to pay them to live on U.S. soil?

POPSThe Ironic Rule of Law Did they copy this from a US Justice Department press release? First they pirate our DVDs and now our legalistic dissembling! Pioneering torture policy authors like John Yoo are apt to be pretty steamed.
