POPS Investigate Jerry Brown It’s a bad sign, to say the least, when the chief law enforcement officer of a state is actually helping an entity that is running afoul of multiple laws. In fact, that should be career ending, which may explain his motives for going after the two young filmmakers in his investigation. Factor in, if you will, the continuously emerging evidence that ACORN is an entity that has been actively engaging in partisan political activity favorable to Jerry Brown-types. Brown’s office released a letter stating in part, "The Attorney General shares your concerns and he takes seriously his obligation to see that the laws of California are uniformly and adequately enforced." Uh-huh. Did I mention Jerry Brown wants to be governor of California? Thoroughly and professionally investigating ACORN could hurt his get-out-the-vote efforts, and certainly might affect its vast network’s endorsement of him. by Mark J. Fitzgibbons

POPSCharlie Gibson on ACORN Scandal: ‘I don’t even know about it.’ Roma: Well I think that this is a huge issue because there’s so much funding that goes into this organization and it’s a multi… Charlie Gibson: Well, I know we’ve done some stories about ACORN before but uh, uh this one I don’t know about. Roma: Jake Tapper did some blogging on it. I know he’s at least blogged once on this scandal. Charlie Gibson: You guys, you guys are really up on the uh on the website. ~~ Footage of the San Bernardino investigation was not available at the time of the interview. Uh-huh. Riiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhhht. Aptly named "9/11: Science and Conspiracy," the special aims to address some of the most common connivances espoused by truthers like Rosie O'Donnell.

POPSCondiments to Spice Up Communion Wafers "I can hear some of you now. "Blasphemous!" "Scandalous!" But hold on there, bucko! What if we discover some new way to serve communion wafers that brings people stampeding back to the church as if it were some chic new restaurant on the lower east side? Uh huh, you didn't think of that, did you? We thought not. "

POPS Happy Poison Piven Day Maybe it's simply a sign of how I was raised, but pretty much every day is Earth Day. We cut off the lights when we leave a room. With the exception of the baby, we take showers instead of baths. We grow some of our own vegetables and spices, and hand weed and use organic remedies to minimize pests instead of using chemicals. Given more time, I'd even provide more "green" meat for my family, hunting and fishing to harvest those other meaty emitters of greenhouse gasses and biowaste for the children! But Earth Day isn't about protecting the Earth for many of those involved. It's about regulating and controlling people, especially people that they find objectionable. Thanks, but I'll pass. POPSFrom The Department of "As If" Uncanny. Maybe I should go back and look through that victory speech for other tea leaves. And back in Iraq: Some military leaders remain wary of Obama's pledge to order a steady withdrawal of combat forces from Iraq, to be completed within 16 months -- an order advisers say Obama is likely to give in his first weeks in office. Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has called a withdrawal timeline "dangerous." Others are distrustful of a new administration they see as unschooled in the counterinsurgency wars that have consumed the military for the past seven years. Gosh - a very public order to commence withdrawals followed by very quiet back-pedaling as conditions are evaluated and re-evaluated would be awfully cynical and manipulative, wouldn't it? On the other hand, Obama has said a million times that we must be as responsible in leaving Iraq as we were careless in entering, . .

POPSFirst Olbermann and Matthews, Now Andrew Sullivan? "Thank you for your many emails of concern. For the record, I'm absolutely fine, nothing has changed with this blog, no one is pressuring me to write or not write anything, and I spent part of the day yesterday with my husband soaking up the last moments of summer together." Uh huh. Within hours, he then posted this creepy "Quote of the Day": "Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muß man schweigen." This, as everyone of course knows, translates to: What we cannot speak of, we must pass over in silence. It immediately occurred to me at this point what was going on. Our Andy got in twuble. =( So now he's taking time off to "recover" from being humiliated and realizing that, surprise surprise, just because you're a blogger and the internet might be "anything goes" for some... you still work for somebody else who has, you know, a business to run.

POPSObama's Campaign Using Video Of Berlin Speech Emails Complete With DONATE Button “He is going to talk about the issues as an individual … not as a candidate, but as an individual, as a senator,” the adviser added. For days, campaign advisers have attempted to present the trip as a listening tour with key leaders who Obama said he expects to forge relationships with for years to come. But the extent of the stagecraft and planning makes it hard to ignore that the campaign, long intent on positioning Obama as commander-in-chief material, has its eye on a much broader audience. Yet, a campaign aide at the briefing said the Berlin speech “is not for campaign purposes.” “I don’t think the fact that large numbers of people gather to hear a speech makes it a campaign speech,” the aide said. “The substance of what he addresses is what’s important. And what he is addressing has nothing to do with campaigns. It has to do with his view of where we are today in the world.”

POPSYet Another Obama Flip-Flop Flagged, This Time On Iraq As to Hegseth's first-paragraph claim that all of this flipping, flopping, and flailing by Obama is "a good political move": Baloney. It is instead a cravenly cynical strategy that only has a chance of working as long as Old Media stays in the tank for him. Howard Kurtz at the Washington Post noted that the strategy largely worked in the Heller ruling (so far). But there have been some defectors, including PBS's Bonnie Erbe (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog); there will be more if (or is it as?) the flagrant flip-flops continue. And there's always New Media, which has shown little patience, even in some cases on the left, for much of Obama's recent nonsense. One sign that Old Media is worried about Obama's frequent flip-flopping: Newsweek's Jonathan Darman came out yesterday with a howler about how "flip-flopping has a noble history in this country." Uh-huh.

POPSClinton Camp Tries to Lower the Bar Uh, huh. Anticipating that Obama will likely win all 4 states, they are setting things up so that, if he doesn't win all 4, that it indicates a "concern on the part of Democrats."
