POPSRacism + White Nationalism = What % of Anti-Immigration Reform? It is going to be hard to figure this one, since John Tauton and his ilk have been practicing for more than ten years how to hide within and behind causes and organizations that seem to not be racist or white nationalists. The closer we get to real reform, the easier it will get - the specks of foam on their suits, the more outlandish their claims and the increase in hate crimes. The ugliest part will begin to resemble the break up of the former Yugoslavia - when people were urged to take part in torture and mass killings to serve the "cause" of ethnic cleansing.

POPS50 Ugliest Cars Of All Time According To Business Week Start talking about your favorite car or truck and chances are you will be get a visceral reaction out of many Americans. Where I grew up in the Midwest, for example, saying that Toyota made a better truck than, say, Ford or GM...well, them'z was fightin' words to some. In other parts of the country, the same might be said for debates such as, "Which sports car is the fastest of all time?" We do love our cars. But, then, there are those "ugly ducklings" that should never have made it off the assembly line, and which, sadly, never blossomed into swans. This week, Businessweek assembles a slide show of the 50, all-time ugliest ducklings on four wheels...If you are passionate about autos, or just want a few laughs before heading off to nighty-nighty land, then check out this slide show. Yeesh!

POPS50 Beautiful HDR Images from 50 World Cities HDR can be and often is overused. Some people like that effect. I do not. But I do believe that HDR is a very powerful tool that can help photographers get images that would have previously been unavailable due to dynamic range problems. Technology is NOT evil. It allows us to do things as story tellers and image makers that will be important to those who come after us.

POPSWhose life are you living? In the pursuit of acceptance, success, a raise or a few moments of happiness we lose ourselves, our peace and, ultimately, any lasting happiness. We have become so adept at wearing and changing masks that we are sometimes totally unrecognizable even to ourselves.

POPSState GOP staffer sends racist inage of Obama Another racist ‘slip up’ from the republican party. Real classy. She isn’t sorry she participated in this racial slur, she is sorry she sent it to the ‘wrong’ list. I want to know who is on the ‘right’ list. I’ll bet she doesn’t understand that she demeans herself by perpetuating this sorry attempt at a put down, and the republican party doesn’t seem to understand that keeping people like this around degrades further any shred of integrity they are trying to hang onto. They are likened to a bunch of adolescents snickering at toilet humor. When are they going to grow up and show some respect, for others and for themselves? This is a form of hate speak in it’s ugliest form. Is this really going to be the legacy of the republican party? Because they don’t seem eager to stop it.

POPS TEXAS STATE CONSTITUTION
The ugliest (once again, by ongoing reliability in this regard) to lapse into sheer irrationality about Perry’s statement was from every-ugly, ever-irrational Geraldo Rivera on Fox’s HANNITY show last evening. On that broadcast, Rivera immediately lapsed into his spitting-yelling and into his “Latin” ethnic-supremacy threats: “…all the Latin people there (in Texas) who are going to be the majority soon aren’t going to like this” with that as an implication by Rivera of socio-poltiical threat of force or harms be upon Texas (”or else”), or, rather be upon all Texans who are not “Latins” to use Rivera’s ugly and irrational language. Note that no one, prior to the remarks by Rivera, at any time ever — ever — made any references to anything ethnic nor racial except that Rivera started screaming denouncements of such, the Leftwing “straw man” method to denounce the “outrage” about accusations that have never been made by anyone else inorder to assert or assertively introduce

POPSWe're Being Lied to About Pirates
We have destroyed our own fish stocks by overexploitation – and now we have moved on to theirs. More than $300m-worth of tuna, shrimp, and lobster are being stolen every year by illegal trawlers. The local fishermen are now starving. Mohammed Hussein, a fisherman in the town of Marka 100km south of Mogadishu, told Reuters: "If nothing is done, there soon won't be much fish left in our coastal waters." This is the context in which the "pirates" have emerged. Somalian fishermen took speedboats to try to dissuade the dumpers and trawlers, or at least levy a "tax" on them. They call themselves the Volunteer Coastguard of Somalia – and ordinary Somalis agree. The independent Somalian news site WardheerNews found 70 per cent "strongly supported the piracy as a form of national defence". No, this doesn't make hostage-taking justifiable, and yes, some are clearly just gangsters – especially those who have held up World Food Programme supplies. But in a telephone interview, one of the pir

POPSYou Are Being Lied to About Pirates Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing off the coast of Somalia, dumping vast barrels into the ocean. The coastal population began to sicken. At first they suffered strange rashes, nausea and malformed babies. Then, after the 2005 tsunami, hundreds of the dumped and leaking barrels washed up on shore.
