POPSStranded Whales turn the sea blood red Heartbroken wildlife officials, mourning the death of 150 small whales when they were smashed against rocks in Tasmania, admit there will probably be other mass strandings in the weeks to come. Just why whales die in large numbers continues to be debated but most experts agree that the deep-water creatures might lose their navigational skills when they chase prey into shallow waters. The bodies of the long-finned pilot whales lay scattered across the rocks at Tasmania's rugged Sandy Cape after local people and government wildlife officials tried desperately to save them.

POPSWhat's A Posse Comitatus? And before people jump the Obama gun, this is happening right now, Dec. 2 2008: President George W. Bush. Question is will Obama continue the program? The dangers of standing armies exist regardless of who is in the White House. Once they have the power they will not give it up.

POPS1 in 5 young adults has personality disorder Counting substance abuse, the study found that nearly half of young people surveyed have some sort of psychiatric condition, including students and non-students. Personality disorders were the second most common problem behind drug or alcohol abuse as a single category. The disorders include obsessive, anti-social and paranoid behaviors that are not mere quirks but actually interfere with ordinary functioning. The study authors noted that recent tragedies such as fatal shootings at Northern Illinois University and Virginia Tech have raised awareness about the prevalence of mental illness on college campuses.

POPSPentagon Moves to Deploy Martial Law Troops Homeland Tyranny preparations contrary to Posse Comitatus which forbids the use of military for domestic policing. Again the 9/11-fear based plea of "necessity" is the cry. Will Obama reverse this plan? No. Paranoia rules policy: "9/11 changed everything", especially our liberties. It's a pretext for control and to strengthen the federal government over the states.

POPSWhy Do Men Buy Sex? Prostitution is not a profession women pursue because they like the work. As stated on the KARO Web site: “Very few women have ever said that they voluntarily became prostitutes.” Poverty, drug addiction or fear of violence from pimps often pushes women into the sex trade.

POPSPentagon wants to build ethical soldier bots My initial response was to laugh. Anything man builds is flawed in some way. Making such a grand prediction that scientist can even build a robot that won’t commit a crime is asking for too much faith from us. Noel Sharkey, a computer scientist at Sheffield University, best known for his involvement with the cult television show Robot Wars, is the leading critic of the US plans. He says: "It sends a cold shiver down my spine. I have worked in artificial intelligence for decades, and the idea of a robot making decisions about human termination is terrifying." Noel, that about sums it up.

POPSSolving Somalia Conflicts is Key in Controlling Piracy Experts met this week in Cairo to address the piracy issue but failed to come up with any plausible answer. The obvious solution is to bring a conclusion to Somalia's lawlessness. They have been without a legitimate government since the 1990s. This lack of a lawful leadership has allowed rebels to spread out onto the waterways and has threatened every ship that dares pass along the east coast of Africa. Sending foreign military ships has not curbed this activity, it is merely another band-aid 'solution' to a very serious and dangerous problem.

POPSObama's Pro-Abortion Fanaticism Could Close 1/3 of All Hospitals The freedom of conscience acts are laws that allow Catholic hospitals and health providers that receive public funds through Medicaid and Medicare to opt out of performing abortions. Without public funds, these health centers couldn't stay open; if forced to do abortions, they would sooner close their doors. Even the prospect of selling the institutions to other providers wouldn't be an option, the bishops have said, because that would constitute "material cooperation with an intrinsic evil." Christianity is hated by liberals because it provides a moral basis for resistance. Driving Christians out of healthcare would obviously advance the liberal agenda. If the closures cause a crisis, so much the better. As the economy has been proving so graphically lately, every crisis is an opportunity for statists to push us closer to socialism.

POPSBush allows uranium mining near Grand Canyon and Colorado River Dusty Horwitt, Senior Analyst for Public Lands at the Environmental Working Group (EWG), said the Bush administration's action "is the environmental equivalent of a sub-prime mortgage on the nation's most iconic natural treasure." It was the EWG in August 2007 that alerted the public and Congress to the rush for mining rights around the Grand Canyon. "Mining companies get in cheap today," said Horwitt, "and the public pays tomorrow for what is certain to be a major environmental disaster."
