POPSPalin Is Not Wrong Only it won’t be called a Death Panel. It may be called the LIFETIME Panel: “Listening to Irritating Families Explain Their Insistence on a Medical Examination.”

POPS"Stupidest Summer Ever" (by a former Republican) He concludes: I'm not trying to say that Democrats have a sparkling clean record or that this is anything particularly new. I expected to see a good deal of partisan sniping like we saw against Bush or Clinton during their administrations. But the level of stupidity on display this summer is just relentlessly, head-clutchingly astonishing.

POPSPalin's Poison It’s bad enough that a supposedly intelligent adult can find a way to actually believe that our federal government would call for the death of American citizens in order to save money for health care, but for an elected official, representing and entire state to think this way is just over the top. This kind of thinking goes against any chance of rational debate. And then there’s Newt Gingrich actually defending Palin’s remarks in public, and apparently without shame. No wonder the general view of our political system is one of the inmates running the asylum.

POPSPalin calls Dems healthcare plan 'evil', cites threat to Trig While those in Washington (and those who view things differently) may not see this as actually happening, many of us do. Until such suspect language is removed from the healthcare bill you will continue to see the rising up of Americans denouncing this "change". And this doesn't even address the concerns about the loss of control of ones own medical treatment or the cost.

POPSHawaii declares Obama birth certificate real (7/27/09). Can we finally put this to rest please?
Some of you are saying that if Obama doesn’t produce whatever you consider to be an actual birth certificate, then the Constitution will catch fire and explode. If you want to get technical, though, there isn’t actually any mention of birth certificates in the Constitution. I've always thought Obama was born in Hawaii, just as I've thought Trig was born to Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin-haters are still trying to prove she didn’t give birth to her youngest son, Trig. These tinfoil hat-wearers are as obnoxious and unhinged as the 9/11 Truth cultists who insist that America engineered the jihadi attacks on itself. Seriously, I don't buy into Daily Kos conspiracy nonsense. Those basement dwellers spend their days threatening to move to Canada, but would sooner be caught dead than living in Canada. Frankly, I’m for letting the American people elect whomever they feel like electing. Obama sure as hell wasn't my choice. And many Americans are realizing the devastating mistake.

POPSThe Top 10 Weirdest Moments Of 2008 According To Politico Blago eyes 2016 presidential run The 79-page criminal complaint against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is filled with vulgar remarks and jaw-dropping revelations related to his alleged attempt to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat. But overlooked amid the spectacle is this bizarre gem, buried deep within the document: Blagojevich toyed with the idea of appointing himself to fill Obama’s seat to “remake his image in consideration of a possible run for president in 2016.” He’d viewed himself as a presidential contender after winning the governorship in 2002, but much had transpired since then. He had an undistinguished first term, limped to reelection in a solidly Democratic state against a weak field, alienated much of the Legislature and was well-aware the feds were closing in on his administration on corruption issues unrelated to the Senate seat.

POPS Tripp Palin Has Arrived ~ Congratulations To The New Mom And Dad! Welcome to the world little Tripp! Most assuredly, you will be greatly loved Today, Bill McAllister, a spokesman for Governor Palin said, “This office will not be issuing any statements on Bristol’s baby. We’re here to talk about state government and that matter falls outside of that.”

POPS Has Governor Palin Shifted The Feminist Model?
She introduced her children, especially little Trig, the one with Down's syndrome. She was displaying a mother's unconditional love, as opposed to the conditional love that insists on a "wanted" child. She did these things unapologetically, quite unafraid of seeming to be a normal, healthy sexist female: one who knows what it is to be a woman and enjoys it. The early feminists were radicals inspired by Simone de Beauvoir, who thought it necessary to show that all sex differences were bourgeois conventions or stereotypes. Simone de Beauvoir had her guy in Jean-Paul Sartre, a high-strung couple if ever there was one. Somehow the Palins make a better model for American women--for all women. In truth some sort of feminism was necessary, but the one we had needs a major correction. Harvey Mansfield is professor of government at Harvard and a member of the Hoover Institution's Taskforce on Virtue and Liberty. He is the author, most recently, of Manliness.

POPSTrig's Breakfhrough An interesting article about Downs Syndrome and how people view life's imperfections. I would hope that my moral compass would dominate the fear, stigma, and total life commitment that would surround the foreknowledge of what was coming. Good article.
