POPSThe Violent Left - In Quotes One of the more unintentionally humorous experiences of the campaign season to people in the know is the liberal meme, pushed incessantly by the Obama campaign's surrogates in the mainstream media, that McCain/Palin crowds are vicious, angry mobs, based on one person here or there, yelling something mildly offensive.

POPSSumatran robusta growers suffer from price drop The global financial crisis will impact all coffee farmers. In this case, the price of robusta is dropping. Here in Sumatra, this means many farmers may rip out their coffee and plant less eco-friendly crops. Also look for the big multinational companies to stock up on this low-quality coffee and pit growers against each other to further depress prices.

"They found that when otters were abundant, eagle prey consisted of predominantly kelp-forest fish and sea otter pups. When the otters were rare, however, the proportion of marine birds in the eagles' diet was much higher. "

POPS"Kiplin' vs. Palin The Copybook Headings This had more meat than I could fit in the clip. It's well worth reading. Why is "learning from past mistakes" so taboo in this country. Wouldn't life be easier if we didn't keep falling into the same pits that we just crawled out of?

POPSCanon supports secret garden in urban jungle to Greenwash their waste example of public-private partnership to support a local community garden in NYC. This is a call for community participation. Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them. It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

POPSThe Other Humans For a change of pace from the political arena... This month's National Geographic has a very interesting article about the other humans who lived upon our planet, The Neanderthals. We know so little about the development of our species. Searching for information on it, will bring you many theories. Most agree though, that the human species, in one form or another have been around for a couple million years... Yet we have so little information on their evolutionary process to modern day man. Reading this very interesting article will make you acknowledge how vulnerable life is. So many species have come and gone and we have barely scratched the surface of realizing their existence. Perhaps we will never learn completely how life formed upon our planet and how we got to where we are today, but there's one fact for sure; Science will endure and will never give up its quest to bring us answers. National Geographic is a good way to keep up with new scientific discovery.
