The Violent Left - In Quotes
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  Today 1:50 PM
One of the more unintentionally humorous experiences of the campaign season to people in the know is the liberal meme, pushed incessantly by the Obama campaign's surrogates in the mainstream media, that McCain/Palin crowds are vicious, angry mobs, based on one person here or there, yelling something mildly offensive.

Sumatran robusta growers suffer from price drop
BirdBarista
by BirdBarista  10-11-2008
The global financial crisis will impact all coffee farmers. In this case, the price of robusta is dropping. Here in Sumatra, this means many farmers may rip out their coffee and plant less eco-friendly crops. Also look for the big multinational companies to stock up on this low-quality coffee and pit growers against each other to further depress prices.

This had more meat than I could fit in the clip. It's well worth reading. Why is "learning from past mistakes" so taboo in this country. Wouldn't life be easier if we didn't keep falling into the same pits that we just crawled out of?

Canon supports secret garden in urban jungle to Greenwash their waste
rachaelkeriwilliams
by rachaelkeriwilliams  10-7-2008
example of public-private partnership to support a local community garden in NYC. This is a call for community participation. Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them. It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

The Other Humans
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  10-7-2008
For a change of pace from the political arena... This month's National Geographic has a very interesting article about the other humans who lived upon our planet, The Neanderthals. We know so little about the development of our species. Searching for information on it, will bring you many theories. Most agree though, that the human species, in one form or another have been around for a couple million years... Yet we have so little information on their evolutionary process to modern day man. Reading this very interesting article will make you acknowledge how vulnerable life is. So many species have come and gone and we have barely scratched the surface of realizing their existence. Perhaps we will never learn completely how life formed upon our planet and how we got to where we are today, but there's one fact for sure; Science will endure and will never give up its quest to bring us answers. National Geographic is a good way to keep up with new scientific discovery.

Heart of Midlothian war memorial clock.
RossDouglas
by RossDouglas  10-6-2008
Edinburgh council wants to move this historic clock built in memory of soccer players turned soldiers who fought in both the world wars. It is more than just a clock to the people of Edinburgh, it is a symbol of what we are. Free people who would rather die free than live in fear. Please help by signing the petition or posting an email to your friends. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to sign. Ross Douglas. An Edinburgh resident.
