POPSWatermelon car So well done. Thanx to Cory Ondrejka and some others for sending this to me. :) HAD to clip it for posterity. Or something like it.

POPSThis paragraph summarizes why I make video tutorials Well, not *entirely*. But it's very apt and true — don't just tell, SHOW too! And of course I value many mediums of communication like the colors of the rainbow, but I started doing vidtuts outta frustration of describing things which were hard to put into words.

POPSTorley uses the Logitech PC120 to record video tutorials Cheap 'n' cheerful @ less than 15 bux! Special thanx to Mark Barrett for telling me what model it is, I originally got it included with an Orbit MP webcam (since given away) and it has *surprisingly* good recording quality, rich bass and not hollow like many headsets are. Too bad they feel kinda awkward on me, but I really like 'em otherwise.

POPSJeroen's awesome Flash player Good if you need to embed movies & music! I particularly like how easy it is to use this "wizard" to tweak settings and create a customized version. I used it here: http://torley.com/piano

POPSA bizarre movie with lots of watermelons and sex It's called "La Saveur de la Pasteque" and sounds very arty, but as you'll see if you watch the trailer, it's basically people in watermelon umbrellas, clothes, and plenty of melons. And some sex. Yes, it is sexually explicit, so shield the vision of your young rinds. Good gosh, why on earth would people create something like this! In the words of my wife, "They better credit the original Watermelon" man. Damn straight.

POPSEver wondered what's used to make those cool movie trailer transitions? Your answer within. These guys should team up with NewBlueFX and do some serious asskicking in the cinematic industry! Not that they're *not* doing that already, of course. ;) The trailers on here are so well-put-together and really illustrate a lot of what we've come to take for granted, sometimes as cliches. But really, it's movie magic!

POPSShowing web content at Second Life: Torley's Tutorials Second Life has some new features, coming with the Release Candidate 1.19.1 and Torley Linden presents 3 awesome (as usual) video tutorials on how to use them. Now you can show web pages on screens at Second Life, something we have been waiting for long. (For those who don't know: Torley Linden is also a fellow clipper, check his stuff here . Excellent job Torley, thanks!)

POPSRETRO MOTION LOGO onslaught — feat. "DVNO" + the originals So many classix here. Someone's gotta do a blog post breaking down Justice's "DVNO" video with a side-by-side comparison of the logos that get paid tribute to... HBO, 20th Century Fox, Stephen J. Cannell, etc. Also up in the air is that elbo.ws has a lot (164 as of this writing) blog posts re: "DVNO". May be a good place for me to search/aggregate music news in the future!

POPSKoh-Kae coated peanut snack Anyone else enjoy these as a kid? I ate them a lot at relatives' house. I tried to clip an image of the mascot, but this site is Flash-heavy. Darnit!

POPSAutistic Amanda Baggs uses the same keyboard I do! AND she hangs out in Second Life? (For the record, the keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000.) I find Amanda's video inspiring and hope it continues to set a precedent for more sharing from autistic & Asperger perspectives.
