Is there a honest Politician?
benaloy
by benaloy  Today 6:22 AM
Are we all holding the 'wrong' end of the 'stck' in thinking that 'politicians' must be 'honest'. Suppose we believe that it is perfectly ok for a person make 'hay' while it 'shines' our minds would be at ease. Increase the penalties for 'wrong' doing, but who would do such a thing when he himself may be caught in it ???

McCain's Double Standard
spirithiker
by spirithiker  10-8-2008
If McCain wants to bash Obama for his occasional appearances on the same board with Ayers, a 1970's political activist who Obama disclaims friendship with, then he needs to examine his admitted long-time friendship to a government operative who was in the thick of the biggest political scandal in American history - and one of the greatest threats to the rule of law, G. Gordon Liddy. Both Ayers and Liddy say they have no regrets for what they did. Both served prison terms for their actions. Liddy, a radio talk show host, gives the advice: "if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot, they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. Kill the sons of bitches." Ayers, since imprisonment, has spent his time helping the poor and disadvantaged. McCain thinks Obama should apologize for associating with a criminal extremist. To which Obama might reply: After you.

Okay so i got my humidor in the mail today, (small 20 count). I followed Lopaka's humidor setup guide to season it. I had soaked the humidifier in pg solution and had it resting on a towel for a long while to make sure it wouldn't drip inside my humi. anyways when i opened the humi i checked the rh and found it to be a solid 90%. am i crazy or is this strange. i know the humi needs time to absorb the water, but that made me imagine it would be overly dry in the humidor until it was ready to rock. Prolly just being a paranoid noob, but what are you guys thoughts?

Northeast States Praised for Allergy Policies
Allison Van Dusen
by Allison Van Dusen  8-13-2008
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation has given top marks to Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey for having policies that support kids with asthma and allergies in school. The group estimates that more than 5 million children in the U.S. have asthma and 2.2 million have a food allergy. States were graded based on their efforts to institute 18 policies, including those that protect students' access to their medications, promote the development of emergency protocols for dealing with asthma and anaphylaxis episodes and ban tobacco use in schools. Those states with the lowest rankings include South Dakota, Georgia, Wyoming and Oklahoma.

Cigarette Tax Burnout
Rustee
by Rustee  8-11-2008
In New York City and State, tobacco taxes have been raised so many times that the retail cost can exceed $9 a pack -- about double the national average. Few budget-savvy smokers in the Big Apple pay that tax. Patrick Fleenor, an expert on tobacco taxes at the Tax Foundation, estimates that there is "now a 75% gap between cigarette sales in the city and cigarette consumption." In other words, three out of four cigarettes are bought elsewhere or are contraband. In New Jersey, about 40% of the Marlboros and Virginia Slims that are lit up escape the $2.57-a-pack tax. In Washington State, evasion was so rampant that the legislature decided in 2005 to lower the 75% tax on cigars and other tobacco products as a way to raise revenue and help state retailers.
