POPSInteresting Critique Of Modern Radical Conservatism The entire article is several pages long and has some thought-provoking observations to make regarding the evolution of the American conservative movement and how it has "morphed" into what we are seeing today. BTW, notice the civil tone of the article.

POPSThrowing Shoes: Iraquis Love Their Country, Too. Well written and thought provoking article from the recently-released journalist who threw his shoes at Pres. Bush. Remember, there are 2 sides to every story. I think, if we were in Iraq's situation, we would do the same, at the very least.

POPSTweeting our brain cells away Though i'm no scientist - and i'd certainly word it a bit differently - i share these sentiments about twitter. To be clear, I think there are many positive aspects of twitter too, but this is certainly one of my criticisms/concerns. I recommend reading the rest of this article...it's thought provoking and insightful about how different sources of entertainment and communication affect us (Twitter, Facebook, video games, etc.)

POPSAgainst Nature I think I've watched this film six times in the past week. Against Nature, a film directed by Antony Zaki and Jon Story and based on Joris-Karl Huyman's novel A Rebours is an incredibly intelligent and thought-provoking film about a dangerously decadent aristocrat's unlikely friendship with a tramp. It speaks to the perils of excess and the fine line between kindness and cruelty. I'll refrain from giving you my own analysis, as it'll be better enjoyed that way:

POPSThe Century of The Self it is a controversial document. some call it "BBC leftist marxist yellow journalism" .. while other voices praise it as a rare window unto "what's really going on" which is mainly "veiled" from the common eye. i didn't watch all the series but it seems that some thought provoking "images" of "us" may well be hidden here .. (in a up or sub manner .. -))

POPSFood, Inc.: How factory farming affects you (movie trailer on site)
But despite the factory-farm scenes, some of the most thought-provoking moments were these statements that were spoken or flashed on the screen. According to the filmmakers: In 1972, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration conducted 50,000 food safety inspections. In 2006, the FDA conducted only 9,164. In 1996 when it introduced Round-Up Ready soybeans, Monsanto controlled only 2 percent of the U.S. soybean market. Now, over 90 percent of soybeans in the U.S. contain Monsanto's patented gene. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was an attorney at Monsanto from 1976 to 1979. After his appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Thomas wrote the majority opinion in a case that helped Monsanto enforce its seed patents. 70 percent of processed foods have some genetically modified ingredient. (Genetically modified crops are not labeled in the U.S. even though 90 percent of consumers have said they want labeling.) 1 in 3 Americans born after 2000 will contract early onset diabe
