POPSTotal Isolation - Documentary I have only just started watching this. It is something I have looked at/into on an off for a number of years. The intro speaks about Guantanamo Bay torture techniques. Might be worth studying and learning more about. I am reminded of some of the Buddhist meditative "tests"? - left in caves, food passed in once a day though they see and speak to no one for weeks, months. I used to question why we would need to learn any of these things. Maybe there is something valuable to be learned from them???

POPSBelfast: Sex, Politics & Parades
The First Minister's wife has been having sex with teenager(s) She raised money from Protestant party supporters to pay them off. One fellow was selected to investigate. Without a report of any kind, yesterday he said everything was okay. The Brits want to turn over the police force and justice system but the Northern Ireland government (composed of former militants and/or terrorist, pick your term) - can't agree and threatened to fall apart. The Brits gave them a couple of billion so they would keep talking. Most of the talk is about Parade Routes. A battle between one of the Scottish King James and a Dutch Duke, over 300 years ago, is a sweet memory to some and sour to others and riots have resulted. I think there are lessons here about understanding and dealing with religious and long term rivalries. 1. They are intractable. 2. They never end. 3. Any spark can start the fire. 4. They cost big bucks. 5. Victory is as sour as defeat. Now...about the Muslim Pr

POPSTea Party Convention Boils Over Claiming to have launched 'the counter-revolution,' the opening speaker of the Tea Party Convention, former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) is setting new standards for how many insults and lies can be fit into one sentence. Tancredo also slashed at the former Republican candidate for President, John McCain. We need to come up with new catagories to identify political ideologies: These Tea Party people sound like KKK-Zionist, imo. That very accurately sums up many of their views.

POPSStudy: Elderly With Less Vitamin D More Likely to Die But not all sunlight is the same. To get enough D requires standing 15 minutes in the sun at around high noon, and don't take a shower afterwards because you'll wash off the precursors to vitamin D formation. In the winter or when you can't get in the sun, the natural form of supplementation is called Vitamin D3. Doctors are recommending anywhere from 2,000-5,000 units a day, check it out, including the blood tests for finding your levels.

POPSTQ | An effective way to reduce health care costs? From one of my favorite sources to innovation on the web comes this clip about one researcher's work on reducing health care costs. ___ Someday Harvard chemistry professor George Whitesides will take the time to look back on the 950 scientific articles he's coauthored, the dozen companies he's co-founded or the 50-plus patents on which he's named. (He works in four main areas: biochemistry, materials science, catalysis and physical organic chemistry.) In the meantime, he's trying to invent a future where medical diagnosis can be done by anyone for little or no cost. He's co-founded a nonprofit called Diagnostics for All that aims to provide dirt-cheap diagnostic devices, to provide healthcare in a world where cost is everything. | http://ted.twi.bz/q | ___ SOURCE | http://ted.twi.bz/r ___ SEARCH | http://google.twi.bz/1z

POPSSpray-on miracle could revolutionise manufacturing more (at source): The secret of liquid glass is that it forms an ultra-thin film between 15 and 30 molecules thick – about 500 times thinner than human hair. On this nanoscale – a few millionths of a millimetre thick – liquid glass turns into a highly flexible invisible barrier that repels water, dirt and bacteria, yet is resistant to heat, acids and UV radiation but remains "breathable". A family-owned German company called Nanopool holds patent rights on the technology behind the liquid glass, which emerged from research at the Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken. Nanopool is already talking to British firms and the NHS about using the product for a diverse range of applications, from coating designer handbags to spraying the nose cones of high-speed trains. Got to source to read more proposed uses of the substance

POPSFreedom of Speech for Corporations but not Employees "I've been getting calls from people for 20 years who've been abused in all sorts of ways," Maltby said. "When I tell them, 'Sorry, you don't have any legal rights,' they literally don't believe me," Maltby said. As bad as things are, they are going to get worse. All new cell phones are now required by federal law to come equipped with the Global Positioning System (GPS). Some employers who issue company cell phones use this technology to track employees during their private lives, often in secret. Recently developed genetic tests allow employers to determine whether you carry the genes linked to breast cancer, Alzheimer's, and other serious illnesses. Employers are starting to use this knowledge to keep people out of the workforce

POPSNASA Still Likes Killing Those Cute Little Animals I was alerted by PeTA in a newsletter, that these sorts of things were still going on at NASA. I was curious so I went to the NASA website and simply typed in "testing on monkeys" and page after page rolled in front of my eyes. It's hard for me to grasp the full extent of all of these tests, surely it's going to take a lot of time to investigate all of these look-ups. I guess my point is, I thought we had gone beyond all of this crap. A terrible waste of life and taxpayers money. I did my taxes yesterday and this is the first time I have ever had to pay such a large amount. Mind you, I have recently retired, and I have much less than before. I don't want my tax money to go to such ridiculous endeavors! Do You?
