POPSBirds do it, Bees do it, but humans don't! Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag. But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on. But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training. Birds do it, Bees do it, even Monkeys in the trees do it. Also on http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSInformation Clearing House Publisher Threatened If we are not willing to die for the truth, the truth will surely die with us. Jesus said, "unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone." When He was captured and taken before Pilate he said, "For this purpose I was born, to bear witness to the truth..." He loved the truth more than Himself. Socrates was the same way. John, one of Jesus' disciples, went on to write about how he was in darkness until Jesus came. He was trained by Jesus and followed in his footsteps. As a result the teachings of Jesus remain to this day. The forces of evil and its darkness did not prevail. Jesus' strategy works. By God's grace I hope to follow. "Buy truth, and do not sell it, get wisdom and instruction and understanding." ~ Solomon Prov 23:23

POPSDown The Memory Hole at ABC News It's one thing to delete comments that are profane, trolling, personal attacks, or off-topic. Deleting a comment that lays out a compelling case for a more extensive investigation of the multi-decade relationship between a Presidential candidate and a terrorist? That's partisan censorship of the most biased kind.

POPSA book about the life and thought of Ibn 'Arabi
Ibn 'Arabi is also known as the Shaykh al-Akbar, the greatest Shaykh. He was born in Al-Andalus in the mid twelfth century and lived half his life there before travelling east. He wrote prodigiously and claimed never to write anything he had not experienced personally. His influence on the development of Sufism was immense. What I appreciate so much about this biography by Stephen Hirtenstein is the way he introduces the reader to the thought of Ibn 'Arabi and also describes the historical context in which he lived, wrote, and pursued his spiritual path. Many scholars see Ibn 'Arabi as being equally significant to our present day concerns alonside the work of Jalaluddin Rumi. To read this book is like stepping into the times of Ibn 'Arabi in Al-Andalus and bathing in his spiritual wisdom. Having lived in Andaluci I often had a sense of his presence in the places he had been whether in the mosque of Cordoba, the port of Adra, or under the mulberry trees in the Alpujarran mountains.

POPSOrganized Religion Preaches Love but Practices Unacceptance This article is a good example of the negatives of organized religion. While many of them preach love, kindness, and peace, in practice they do nothing but reinforce nonacceptance of anyone or anything that does not conform to the religion's teachings and standards. I understand the psychological role or organized religion in our society, but I continue to stand by the belief that organized religion has been the cause of the great majority of the major wars, conflicts, and hatred in our history. Starting with the crusades and going up through to the terrorism we see in the world today. Religions reinforce that anyone or anything outside of their teachings are "wrong" and that those who don't "believe" are not worthy and should be punished. I firmly believe we won't have world peace until organized religion becomes a thing of the past.

POPSScientology Slapped With Civil RICO Suit The Super Adventure Club probably isn't what the statute's drafters had in mind, but then again.. Notre Dame law professor G. Robert Blakey, one of its main drafters, insists that Congress never intended to restrict its application to the Mob. "We don't want one set of rules for people whose collars are blue or whose names end in vowels, and another set for those whose collars are white and have Ivy League diplomas," he says. Presumably the same goes for people whose collars are red and who rule the Galactic Confederacy. (HT: WWTDD)

POPSbuddha baby flicks "much of Buddhist practice is about the refrain from excess - it is, after all, called "the Middle Path" - that is, it consists of stepping back from the entanglements of emotional attachment and aggressive desire, and understanding how to free oneself from these things by being more mindful and aware of them. Its teachings attempt to make us more human by questioning our usual human reactions."

POPSA Way To Be In The World This being Sunday, the sun shinning, I find myself grateful for all that is. Thought perhaps you might also benefit from these quotes. Hope they bring you a calm and joy, relieve any suffering you may have and serve as a guide to the possibilities when we take the time to just be in our own moment.
