"We the People" of the USA Received An Extension of Our Liberty
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 8:17 PM    1
Real strongman tyrants like Chavez have no use for tyrant wannabes. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he “still” smelled sulfur after President Obama made a keynote speech at the Copenhagen climate conference Friday, accusing the American president of carrying the same satanic scent that Chavez believes followed Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush. The big loser in Copenhagen was Obama’s credibility. Obama’s charisma no longer carries the day for him. Obama apparently spent about $10 million of our taxpayer money on his big carbon footprint trip to Copenhagen. The World has determined that Obama has no courage and no Plan B. This is good for us because it will keep Obama from passing his massive Cap and Trade Tax and from passing a destructive ObamaCare plan. Any ObamaCare that is passed can be rescinded after the 2010 General Elections. On the other hand, having a Commander and Chief who lacks courage and credibility and is played

The Rich Rule Over The Poor
debbyski
by debbyski  12-21-2009    4
The rich rule over the poor, And the borrower is the slave of the lender. (Proverbs 22:7 ESV) And so it goes. King George and his band of bandits got us into this mess with conservatives cheering him along every step of the way while he created a mountain of new federal debt, the largest contributors to which were Bush's tax breaks for the rich. Their hero of the hour shamelessly exploited 9/11, fear and the "war on terror" as a pretext to take the ax to civil liberties and to shroud their policies and actions in secrecy. So don't cry me a river now and cloak it with a biblical quote. You are the ones who wanted to mythify Bush as a great leader--pull your crap out on someone else who is idiotic enough to believe in it, but don't pretend you can cash in to God's love by supporting benefits that go to the wealthiest of Americans and contradict the message of Jesus of serving the poor. It's disgusting and so are you.

Et Tu, Ivan? (just dropped a bomb on Copenhagen)
merrie
by merrie  12-17-2009
Ivan drops a bomb on Copenhagen. Unfortunately, it’s the kind of neutron bomb that is likely to leave the warmalist infrastructure standing. And thanks to robust tinfoil helmetry, even the soft targets are likely to survive the hit. Selective, distortional warmalist data culling is not a new claim. The hated skeptics have been saying this for some time. In this case, just one cautionary note … beware of Russkies bearing gifts. The last thing Ivan wants is for Europe to become less reliant on Ivan, and there is nothing Ivan likes more than confusion and consternation in the enemy camp. All of which is actually a good argument for the reasonable, rational and measured pursuit of conservation measures. Financial and national security bottom line, clean environment, all that. Not to be confused with economically ruinous policies in furtherance of highly controversial, unproven and apparently rigged theories.

The Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773
merrie
by merrie  12-16-2009    5
The British tea dumped in Boston Harbor on the night of December 16 was valued at some $18,000. Parliament, outraged by the blatant destruction of British property, enacted the Coercive Acts, also known as the Intolerable Acts, in 1774. The Coercive Acts closed Boston to merchant shipping, established formal British military rule in Massachusetts, made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in America, and required colonists to quarter British troops. The colonists subsequently called the first Continental Congress to consider a united American resistance to the British. The Scandal of Hunger in America
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-28-2009    4
Tax dollars are wrongly spent on all level of government. For example, in Los Angeles, the lion share of the city budget is spent on the police department. State wide the amount of money spent on the prison system is astronomical. Instead of hiring more cops and incarcerating more people, it would be a wise and durable investment to invest in good and free public education. Federally, the waste of our tax dollars and resources is just as absurd. President Obama will try to justify his escalation of the war in Afghanistan. By sending more troops to Afghanistan, the astronomical defense budget will keep going up and is likely to reach 700 billion in 2010. 1 billion people suffer from chronic hunger. It is Thanksgiving, and while the executives of Goldman Sachs, which are getting ready to pay themselves 21 billion in bonuses, have too much to be thankful for, the 49 million Americans going hungry every day should be resentful of a system that has let them down.

Absolutely amazing!!! And the foolish woman believes this bill offers the "last chance"!!?? None dare scratch it and start over knowing all that has been learned over these last months. I agree that America needs some serious Health Care reform. Tort Reform would be a good start. Cracking down on fraud; ie. follow the $$$ would be great too. But when people say idiotic things such as these (and are serious!) we really are in deep doo-doo. These, who are the media influence-peddlers who have access to our citizens every day! Throw in the towel, they say. As though there is no hope for a much better bill. Where are the Leaders??

Ian Walker: Why I hate pedestrians
Lexica
by Lexica  11-16-2009    8
More: And recently…it's got worse. As I'm driving up the street I constantly come across pedestrians walking across my part of the road to get from one of these pavements to another. I mean, what the hell...? They've been given vast tracts of pedestrian-only routes, where I'm certainly not allowed to drive, but apparently this isn't enough for them . Oh no, they want to keep encroaching into my space as well. Sure, we've all heard these walking zealots who say that it's because the 'pavements' don't form a joined-up network, meaning they can't walk to where they want to go without having to step onto the road from time to time. Aw, bless their little hearts. To pedestrians I say this: get off my part of the road. If you walk there when I'm coming along then I'll happily run you down , that's all.

Keep the government out of the news business
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  11-6-2009
Turning to Washington for help to save the declining news business says much about the mentality of mainstream journalism leaders, an attitude that we and the government are on the same side. This is the mentality that led to the news establishment’s acceptance of the Iraq War. Go to the clip to learn what happened to Mother Jones after becoming a tax exempt non-profit after it reported on lobbying in Washington. Once you allow the government or private corporation to have any controlling link to the media you lose independence. Editors become fearful of criticizing the hand that feeds it. Publishers and benefactors become cozy and unbiased reports become fewer and fewer. Journalism becomes a de facto advertisement for consumer products. We hope in the future we’ll see more I.F. Stones, more guerrilla warriors on the Web, in print and on the air. Because of them—and not because of a government handout—great reporting will survive, as it always has.

Britain's Lord Monckton Warns About Dangers of Climate Change Treaty - Video 10/30/09
merrie
by merrie  10-31-2009    2
Bolton thinks the treaty is dangerous, but is not prepared to go as far as Monckton yet. But he said it does have the potential to do great damage. Even if Obama signs it, it would require a two-thirds vote of the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty and make us bound to the terms. Fascinating discussion. The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam By John Coleman January 28, 2009 (Revised and edited February 11, 2009) Back in the 1960s, this global warming research came to the attention of a Canadian born United Nation's bureaucrat named Maurice Strong. He was looking for issues he could use to fulfill his dream of one-world government. Strong organized a World Earth Day event in Stockholm, Sweden in 1970. From this he developed a committee of scientists, environmentalists and political operatives from the UN to continue a series of meetings. Strong developed the concept that the UN could demand payments from the advanced nations for the climatic

Depending on your stance on tax cheats, this could be good or bad. On the one hand, tax cheats should be made to pay their fair share of the tax burden. But it brings up the issue on what is the ‘fair share’ when it comes to taxes, but that is for discussion another day. On the hand, this enforces the whole Big Brother climate. Do we really want to spy on our grocer or used car dealer, etc? Would you do it for money? What are your thoughts?

Another lost Gospel found
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-12-2009    3
When Obama became a man he took Mary Michaela as his wife, and she was beautiful, and her wedding gift was a huge ass that could be seen for miles around their town of Bethlago. And Obama went to a temple and began preaching, and many were amazed that he spoke such sooth, saying 'Rabbi, rabbi, can you turn this water into some Paul-masson Chardonn'ay?' But Obama rebuked them, saying 'Let us not, at this point of time, pay heed to what are, in essence, mere beverages, and, we can now say with some certainty, are foodstuffs that, in time, will not necessarily raise our spiritual awareness for, as we now know, we have come to this moment where we can, in fact, make our views heard. Yes we can!' And grown men wept in amazement at such profound thoughts, though a few of the women of Bethlago muttered such things as 'He soundeth like a 10-year old talking through a pig's bladder', and 'Bring back King David Burning-Bush, at least he was funny'.

What Went Wrong With Our Economy?
sahara
by sahara  10-2-2009
We're letting domestic and multinational corporations, with their uncompromising profit motive and strong connection to the military, determine the future course of our country and the world. Terrorism has replaced communism as the major threat to our lifestyle. But corporate defense contractors -- Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics -- take millions of dollars from the federal treasury every DAY to produce Cold-War-era weapons, with their profits guaranteed by the American public. We're the leading seller of arms to the world. We intervene in more countries than ever before, even though studies show that intervention is tied to terrorism. Our elected representatives listen to businessmen and generals rather than to scientists, doctors, humanitarians, teachers, mothers. And we've been conditioned to believe that this is the way it must be. But it doesn't have to be this way.
