POPS4 ways to monitor Linux via web System administrators need to keep an eye on their servers to make sure things are running smoothly. If they find a problem, they need to see when it started, so investigations can focus on what happened at that time. That means logging information at regular intervals and having a quick way to analyse this data. Here’s a look at several tools that let you monitor one or more servers from a Web interface.

POPSAstutely Unplugged True freedom is FREE THOUGHT. A man who allows his mind to become enslaved, conditioned & deceived is blissfully unaware of invisable chains. Conditioned masses are considered prime USDA cattle/slaves by the powers that be.Conditioning requires embracing many deciets. Who would follow blindly the decievers? Notice the PTB never sacrifice. It is the members of the herd they have earmarked for sacrifice in endless war rackets and corperate altars of greed. Who benifits? Who really uses fear as a weapon? Who would try to force all to believe the enemies are without rather than within? Questions are good. But not to the PTB who want obedient mind slaves.

POPSUniversities Struggle to Fill Classrooms in Japan The rapid graying of Japan’s population has already been felt in other parts of society, including the lower rungs of the nation’s education system where hundreds of half-empty elementary and high schools have closed or been merged over the last two decades. But it has only recently begun to affect higher education. Japan’s postwar baby boom started earlier than America’s. As a result, according to census statistics, the number of 18-year-olds in Japan peaked at 2.05 million in 1992, when the baby boomers’ children were entering universities, and has fallen steadily, to 1.3 million this year. Estimates show it dropping to 1.21 million in two years. This year, as a result, nearly a third of the nation’s 707 public and private four-year universities cannot fill all of their openings, according to the Education Ministry and university groups. Roughly half of college-age Japanese attend universities.

POPSUSA act Yet, another bill which stiffles our civil liberties. In particular, this act grants police authorities to search and seizure w/o a warrant if deemed suspect. This probably is a abused by officials on a regular basis.

POPSEducational applications for mobile phones Some campuses are starting to take advantage of the ubiquity of mobile phones among students to develop new ways of communicating and building community. The story presents this as mostly a positive thing, but I wonder how successful it can really be.
