POPSVintage Moonbattery: Copenhagen's A Battle To Humble And "Redefine Humanity" So this isn't the place for rationality. It's the place to reverse the Industrial Revolution. You do have to read this entire self-caricature, though, because there's just so much I couldn't include. There's an entire section on how the people who disagree with him - the bullies who call him bad names - are angry because he's just too decent. Then there was a part about how we have to reign in "adventurers," which a cynical person might read as a pointed version of banal Blue State nannyism. "I'm too priggish to have fun so you're not allowed to have any either." The Guardian (http://bit.ly/691nUu)

POPS The EPA's Carbon Bomb Fizzles President Obama, having failed to get climate legislation, didn't want to show up to the Copenhagen climate talks with a big, fat nothing. So the EPA pulled the pin. In doing so, it exploded its own threat. With a recession on, the subject has become poisonous in congressional districts. Blue Dogs and swing-state senators watched in alarm as local Democrats in the recent Virginia and New Jersey elections were pounded on the issue, and lost their seats. But now? Hurrah! It's the administration's problem! No one can say Washington isn't doing something; the EPA has it under control. The agency's move gives Congress a further excuse not to act. "The Obama administration now owns this political hot potato," says one industry source. "If I'm Ben Nelson or Kent Conrad, why would I ever want to take it back?" All the more so, in Congress's view, because the EPA "command and control" threat may yet prove hollow.

POPSA Ripe Time For Florida's Marco Rubio "Rubio intends to prove that "in the most important swing state, you can run successfully as a principled conservative." When Florida politics come up I always encourage my friends to get out and support this man. He's the one!!!! Crist is a political climber of the worst kind. I believe, at heart, he is a Democrat (when once that was not a bad thing in Florida) but chose to run as a Republican because of a Jeb Bush strong Republican state. As one pundit pointed out, Crist never runs for re-election...he's climbing the ladder. Floridian conservatives need to take back the GOP flag...even if the Party Leadership is trying to play the political odds game.

POPSLatin Americans Ditch US ‘War on Drugs’ Reform campaigners have long argued that criminalization enriched drug cartels, fuelled savage turf wars, corrupted state institutions and filled prisons with addicts who presented no real threat to society. The US used its considerable influence to keep Latin America and the UN wedded to hardline policies which kept the focus on interdictions and jail sentences for consumers as well as dealers. The "war" was first declared by the Nixon administration. It’s about time more countries began viewing drug abuse as the medical problem it is. For some encouragement in support of this new direction look to Portugal who in 2001 decriminalized drug use and possession. Dealers are still jailed and subject to fines but users are sent to rehab and many don’t even use anymore. POPSHillary's African Rant The only problem? Apparently the translator made a mistake and the student had wanted to know what President Obama thought of the deal. A State Department official tells ABC News the student went up to Clinton after the event and told her he was misquoted. No immediate word yet how Clinton responded. Regardless of the error, the notion of Secretary Clinton's deference to her husband clearly touched a nerve with America's top diplomat. Just a week ago the former President stole his wife's thunder when he appeared in North Korea to rescue two American journalists detained there. His trip came just as Secretary Clinton embarked on a swing through Africa she hoped would shine light on the plight of the continent. Still, imagine what the students thought when her response was translated back and they heard Clinton call President Obama her husband….

By cutting access to care for the elderly. End Medicare as we know it. The government decides who gets hip, knee, or heart surgery. Eight month wait for colonoscopies. Write Senator Evan Bayh today so you can still see your doctor tomorrow.” On Monday or Tuesday, we will e mail you info on how to donate to our campaign. POPSACORN Internal Memo Blows Cover Off Its Claims Of "Non-Partisan" Status
Worse, ACORN is competing for $8 billion in Stimulus dough, thanks to President Obama. So where does the money go? Fox News traced the money to a single, small funeral parlor in New Orleans on Elysian Fields Avenue. It appears to be a bank for ACORN and as many as 268 of its far-left affiliates. And some of its affiliates -- like "The ACORN Institute" -- are 501(c)(3) organizations. To maintain its tax-exempt status, various arms of ACORN purport to be a non-partisan, community support organizations. These are laughable propositions, to be sure, but thus far have resisted attempts to puncture their complex corporate veils. In other words, ACORN plotted a national campaign to benefit a Democrat Party takeover of Congress, explicitly naming the Democrats as beneficiaries of their "largesse". Sounds non-partisan, eh? You can read the entire memo here, preserved for posterity. http://docs.google.com/View?id=dw454vd_19c8nb9qcg

POPSLiberal Agenda in Full Swing With liberal Democrats everywhere you look on Capitol Hill these days and three liberal Republicans climbing on board, there is no longer anything to stop the left from expanding its power base, eliminating American freedoms and implementing its vision of a socially liberal welfare State. The so-called "stimulus" package was just the "make government bigger" aspect of the liberal agenda. There are many more pieces of legislation the new, liberal government hopes to enact. It permeates every aspect of American culture from gun rights to labor. While the nation has been distracted and outraged over the president's cabinet post circus, Congressional Democrats have been working to create a more "liberal" union. It may not have been by design, but for the Democrats and their liberal agenda, having an inexperienced president certainly has its advantages.

POPSSOmething rotten in the state of Minnesota To put this change in perspective, that single precinct’s corrections accounted for a significantly larger net swing in votes between the parties than occurred for all the precincts in the entire state for the presidential, congressional, or state house races. Indeed, the 504 total new votes for Franken from all the precincts is greater than adding together all the changes for all the precincts in the entire state for the presidential, congressional, and state house races combined (a sum of 482). To many, it just seems like too much of a coincidence that Minnesota's one tight race just happens to be the race with the most "corrected" votes by far. But the real travesty will be to start letting election officials divine voter's intent. If you want to discourage people from voting, election fraud is one sure way of doing it.

POPSObama Wins: Bangkok Post - Bangkok, Thailand A full 62 per cent of voters ranked the economy as the key issue of this election, compared to 10 per cent invoking the war in Iraq and 9 per cent rating terrorism or health care highest. Millions already voted in recent weeks in early or absentee voting allowed in 31 states, including key battlegrounds Florida, North Carolina, Colorado and Nevada. Voters waited patiently in serpentine queues early Tuesday to cast ballots. Many had started lining up before dawn, and some braved pouring rain to cast their ballots. It was a bittersweet end to the 21-month campaign for Obama, whose grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, 86, passed away overnight Sunday after a battle with cancer, the Illinois senator revealed Monday.

POPSFinal Obama-McCain Polls McCain's association with President Bush was named as more damaging to him than his choice of running mate What a sad state of affairs that Sarah Palin isn't kicked to curb. She a crooked politician who believes that Adam, Eve and the dinosaurs all walked the earth during the same time period. A politician who would further deprive Americans of their liberty if she only had a chance. I hope that our education system improves under an Obama administration. The downside is that ignorance promulgated by religion will continue come Obama or McCain. What a country!

POPSPrediction: XXX XXX XXX Wins 281-257 From this base case (XXX XXX XXX winning with an 11 point cushion), there are a couple deviations worth mentioning, given that Virginia and Pennsylvania seem to represent the most tenuous wins for McCain. * If McCain loses Virginia (13 votes), he can still win by picking up any of the three western battlegrounds (NM, CO, or NV). Of these, at least Colorado appears plausible, so Virginia isn't necessarily a killer. * If McCain loses Pennsylvania (21 votes), he needs to pick up any two of those western states. This is a stretch, so losing Pennsylvania would appear nearly lethal. The caveat here is that McCain could lose Pennsylvania and pick up only Colorado, which would yield a 269-269 tie. * If McCain loses both Virginia and Pennsylvania, President Obama is a near mathematical certainty.

POPSUSA Election: The Battlegroung States.
Some say the list of 'swing states,' is even shorter now. It comes down to two major states: Pennsylvania and Virginia. OR Florida and Ohio Depending which way these states votes, then Colorado + Nevada will be important. A new twist is that if Obama wins the previously always Republican state of North Carolina, McCain has to win All of The Above. ?? - I think this is accurate. From the beginning Obama had a 'western state strategy to pick up Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. He's now expected to win New Mexico. These states have normally voted Republican but have a substantial Latino population which, overall, is favoring Obama. There small number of electoral votes (based on population) would normally be considered almost insignificant; but when you put all three together it changes everything on the East Coast. Prior to this a candidate needed 3 out of 4 of the Big Four Swing States...but with the Western states only two are needed. Virginia will show whic

POPSUSA Elections: Voting Started - Democrats Coming On Strong.,,,even in Georgia!
This is a good clip for current info on the "battleground states." Which way these states vote will be critical to who wins: Ohio,Pennsylvania, Virgina and Florida. All states count, of course but the four states above are the big ones that swing back and forth and could go either way and thus make the difference. But Virginia? North Carolina!? Georgia!? Wow! - In the USA Civil War, 150 years ago, it was a war between Northern States and Southern States (of that time). If looking at the USA Election Map for the last 150 years, it's been the very exact same dividing line....the same dividing line as in the USA Civil War: The Northern States (of that time) vote one way; the Southern States (of that time) vote another. For the Democrats to win in Virginia - capital of the South, would change all that...(and Obama now ahead). If they win North Carolina...incredible! shocking! If Obama wins Georgia..OMG! OMG! It would be a victory not just for now, but a 150 y

POPSState polls show Ohio and Florida back to McCain With the media spending all day talking up Obama, and talking about the Colin Powell endorsement, not much talk about Ohio and Florida where the polls have gone back to McCain. This site is patently pro-Obama and was forced to show the poll results, even though they still show the electoral college with Obama getting both states. A little misleading at the least
