POPSResearchers Can Swat Flies "It is best not to swat at the fly's starting position," Dickinson said. Instead, aim for the escape route. And who didn't need to know that??? I'm curious, does anyone think there was a "need" to research on why it's so hard to swat a fly ?

POPSTwo Kidnapped Men Rescued In Oak Cliff, Texas Authorities declined to release the names of four of the suspects. However, police have identified the fifth suspect as Luis Owens Gonzales, 24. Mr. Gonzales and the kidnapping victim who escaped had served time together in a federal prison in Bastrop on narcotics-related charges, Sgt. Stressing said. Dallas FBI agents are also involved in the investigation. They referred all questions to Austin police, who plan to release more details Monday.

POPSLaw Enforcement: SWAT Run Amok While I am not anti-law enforcement (having two family members in law enforcement), I have been following this trend across the nation for some time. There does seem to be an increase in unwarranted police violence against citizens. Seems to be a by-product of the post-9/11 world we live in.

POPSMore innocent victims in the "war on drugs" The linked article has a petition you can sign to limit paramilitary police raids on American soil. Of course, if you think like I do, you're probably already thinking the only way this is going to stop is if there's a botched raid with fatalities in an affluent upper class suburban neighborhood.

POPSSWAT officers invade home, take 11-year-old at gunpoint Wow. This police state is out of control. "The sheriff said the decision to use SWAT team force was justified because the father was a "self-proclaimed constitutionalist" and had made threats and "comments" over the years." So being a "constitutionalist" is a crime now? "Shiflett was "rude and confrontational" when the paramedics arrived and entered his home without his permission." Uhh... ya think? I would be rude and confrontational if someone entered MY home without permission. They are lucky this guy didn't have a gun, they had no right to enter his home.

POPS Police K-9 Take Bullet For Fellow SWAT Team Members “The bottom line is that the dog took a bullet for the guys out there,” said Sgt. Tim Bieber with the Clark Couny Sheriff's Office A Washington man with a violent criminal history that dates back more than 20 years may get life behind bars for killing a Vancouver police dog The charges against him also fall under the Three Strikes Law. Chenette was belligerent in court Wednesday, praised Charles Manson and made crude hand gestures. He also told the judge “I should have shot the second dog,” too. “For me to set bail would be a symbolic and useless act,” he said. “I would set it so high that nobody could make it.” The judge never allowed Chenette’s shackles to be taken off, either. He wore leg shackles and handcuffs attached to a belly shackle during his entire court appearance

POPSWhy Archaeology of Holy Lands is So Important I recommend Norman Cantor's sizzling history of Judaeism, 'The Sacred Chain', a bit dated now but shows how such work has demonstrated that the first millennium or so of received Jewish 'history' is fable rather than factual.

POPS"Barney Fife's" Dog Day Afternoon In Phoenix
And what did Arpaio's crack SWAT team net from the raid that left a needless trail of death and destruction? MCSO stormed the house believing there was a cache of stolen automatic weapons and armor-piercing ammunition. But MCSO got bushwhacked. Instead of finding weapons of mass destruction, they discovered an antique shotgun and a 9 mm pistol that appear to be legal weapons. There was no sign of the cop-killer bullets. Perhaps they are buried somewhere out in the desert, with Saddam's plutonium. Given the overwhelming display of force deployed by Arpaio's deputies, one would have expected the arrest of a mass murderer. Instead, the crack SWAT boys nabbed 26-year-old Eric Kush. Let me tell you, Kush is really a bad, bad guy. He was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear in Tempe Municipal Court on a couple of traffic citations. Thank God he's off the street. Well, not quite. He posted his $1,000 bond on the misdemeanor warrant and was quickly released f

POPSTax Dodgers Taunt Police and SWAT This is outrageous! These people are just doing a big publicity stunt to avoid hard time. Law enforcement should have never let this situation escalate to this point. I hope once they are finally arrested, they get more charges. If they somehow get out of jail time, that's going to send a really bad message.
