POPSThere's good news about racism in America When a Boston cop refers to Gates as a "banana-eating jungle monkey," when a town hall protester rips up a picture of Rosa Parks and the crowd cheers, look up! There's a reason racism is angry: it's losing ground.

POPSRacial Simmer It's not talked about (except Carter's comment). But it needs to be. Bring it out in the open and shout it from the mountaintops. Racism is alive and well, albeit below the surface for the most part. But it is acting like the driving force. The hidden engine, if you will, of the hate and shouting emanating from the Right these days. The message from these KKK wannabees is clear. The President is not one of us. He is to be feared. He's not fit for the job. It has nothing to do with facts. The people protesting, for the most part, are angry because a black man is their leader and they just can't wrap their small minds around that. The continuance of this hate and bigotry makes me profoundly sad and worried for our country.

POPSFormer Marine David Hedrick @ Pioneer Courthouse Square
David William Hedrick, a 30-year-old accountant from Camas, Wash., said the largest group he had ever talked in front of was in a college class until he spoke at a gathering Rep. Brian Baird, D-Wash., held at the Clark County Ampitheater. http://blog.oregonlive.com/mapesonpolitics/2009/09/tea_party_takes_over_pioneer_c.html Hedrick excoriated Baird and suggested that the Democrats should quit making references about the right and Nazism. The Nazis were really a left-wing socialist movement, he said, "If Nancy Pelosi wants to find a swastika, maybe the first place she should look is the sleeve of her own arm." Hedrick's youtube clip viewed more than 1.1 million times. At Pioneer Courthouse Square, he told the crowd that "We are the same Americans who threw out King George for much less." The Tea Party folks took over Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square a pretty vigorous effort to collect signatures on no less than four proposed tax referendums.

POPSMake My Day: Marine Vet David William Hedrick Baird: No I did not. No I did not. What I said was …. and I’ve apologized for it. David: Thanks for apologizing. I won’t speak to you then. I will speak to others. I’ll remind you, a little history lesson " the Nazis were the National Socialist Party, they were leftists. They took over the finance. They took over the car industry. They took over health care in that country. If Nancy Pelosi wants to find a swastika, maybe the first place she should look is the sleeve on her own arm. Now what I want to know is, you’ve done a lot of things to violate your constitutional oath. As a Marine, as a disabled veteran who has served this country, I have kept my oath. Do you ever intend to keep yours? Mr. Hedrick’s YouTube narrative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rRE5UK6NQU&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bizzyblog.com%2F2009%2F08%2F24%2Fmake-my-day%2F&feature=player_embedded

POPSMarine Corps Veteran at Townhall: "If You're Looking for a Swastika, Look On Your Own Arm"
-- should be required viewing AWESOME!!!!!--- "I, David William Hedrick, a member of the silent majority, decided that I was not going to be silent anymore. So, I let U.S. Congressman Brian Baird have it. I was one questioner out of 38, that was called at random from an audience that started at 3,000 earlier in the evening. Not expecting to be called on, I quickly scratched what I wanted to say on a borrowed piece of paper and with a pen that I borrowed from someone else in the audience minutes before I spoke. So much for the planned talking points of the right wing conspiracy." Hear, hear! For the record, Washington's Columbian reported on August 6: Over 10 years in Congress, U.S. Rep. Brian Baird has stayed tethered to his district, flying back to Southwest Washington for more than 300 sometimes-bruising town hall meetings during Congressional recesses. But this year, he's literally decided to phone it in.

POPSWe've seen this frothing, red-faced rage before People who can't handle change coming to their world reacting with rage and threats of violence: we've been through this before. More: And my lord, Eric Cantor, the number two guy over there, is Jewish. I mean the immediately came out and talked about how horrible it was for this swastika to be painted and said we need to investigate and find out who did it. And to have a Jewish member of the Republican leadership not say a word about that that is just beyond me. I don't understand that. And I'm bothered by that.

POPSPelosi's Swastika Carrying Plants Are Sprouting
Don't believe me. Ask this guy who made a living posing as an ashamed Republican. The media couldn't stop falling for his shtick... Update: First, I was wrong, the sign in question is in the batch of 133, it's easy to overlook, but visible here. Second, our lefty friends want to claim that this is somehow proof that I had it all wrong. I didn't have anything wrong. At the time of Pelosi's statement that picture was unknown to everyone, me, the Huffington Post, everyone at Daily Kos, and even to Pelosi herself. It was only revealed after I proved that Pelosi's information wasn't coming from it's natural sources, the netroots and all its denisons. The sign itself (lame as it may be) generated zero notice, and wasn't noted in press accounts or netroot accounts. More importantly the photo in question wasn't from a townhall meeting, it was from a street demonstration - there was no townhall meeting that day. In that regard it rates a FAIL as proof that Pelosi was right.

POPSUS Corporate Health Care Protects Profits I was very sad to see this in the news this morning. If this is how America's corporate health care system goes about protecting it's enormous profits it's revolting. Even worse, however, is the fact that the American public appears to accept this as reality and acceptable behaviour.

POPSGeorgia Good Ole Boys Alive and Unwell Local news here but it resonated nation wide. For those in other parts of the US, Smyrna is located in Cobb County. This is the county adjacent to Atlanta that tried to stifle evolution in their public schools. Ignorance and hatred seem to go hand and hand.

POPSAmerican Right-Wing a Bit Confused? This story was picked out of the International edition of the Jerusalem Post. It was spray panted and not burned - as per usual with folks in Georgia who used to use burning crosses. I guess they are not really that confused - the KKK always did have more in common with nazi's than anyone else. The most recent trend among righties is to use nazi language to attack those they think are marxists and reverse racists. I take it back - they are still confusing. One easy thing to understand is that they are hateful and driven by fear and hate of what they see in the mirror in the morning.

POPSJewish groups denounce Oliphant Gaza cartoon
Anti-Jewish racism? or Criticism of the war crimes, apartheid, and violence of the Israeli state? and/or Any criticism of Israel and people have to fear being driven from their jobs (like the recent deputy director of u.s. intelligence ; a more substantial issue). So...if a U.S. Intelligence Agent realizes that the most spies arrested and convicted in the last 20 years are spies from Israel...or if he suggest that Israel is manipulating our country and fears a 'false flag,' plan to provoke war with Iran -- well, then he get's fired. And the proposed new Ambassador to Iraq now having problems getting confirmed because he too realizes and talks about Israeli spies (and the biggest trial of APAIC still being stalled). It seems like a cheap excuse. Arabs had nothing to do with the Holocaust. And the fact is Israeli is behaving towards Arabs as badly as the Nazi's behaved towards them. The Star of David now freaks many people out like the Nazi swastika - it's not associ

POPSReport: 'Dirty bomb' parts found in slain man's home
Also found was literature on how to build “dirty bombs” and information about cesium-137, strontium-90 and cobalt-60, radioactive materials. The FBI report also stated there was evidence linking James Cummings to white supremacist groups. This would seem to confirm observations by local tradesmen who worked at the Cummings home that he was an ardent admirer of Adolf Hitler and had a collection of Nazi memorabilia around the house, including a prominently displayed flag with swastika. Cummings claimed to have pieces of Hitler’s personal silverware and place settings, painter Mike Robbins said a few days after the shooting. An application for membership in the National Socialist Movement filled out by Cummings also was found in the residence, according to the report. Cummings’ wife, Amber B. Cummings, 31, told investigators that her husband spoke of “dirty bombs,” according to the report, and mixed chemicals in her kitchen sink. She allegedly told police that Cummings subjected her to

POPSVenezuela Synagogue Attack: Hoax Hate Crime?!!!
Most telling is that investigators knew that the synagogue has many security cameras installed that tape inside and outside for 24 hours. When the rabbis were asked for the tapes, the rabbis said that the "chavistas" stole them. This is very curious because many expensive items inside the synagogue were not reported stolen. The nature of the amateurish "antisemitic" graffiti on the walls inside the synagogue is also extremely suspect. Most suspicious of all were the photographs that the rabbis provided of the "sacred objects of Jewish life" they say were "desecrated." The menorahs, books and other items are seen on the photographs neatly placed but scattered on the floor. The claim of phoney antisemitic hate crimes by Zionists and certain Jewish organizations have been a favorite ploy for decades. These accusations are made to gain political advantage, especially when the group is being criticized for their crimes like their most recent ones in Gaza. This is the primary reason why t

It was commissioned to mark the start of the Czech six-month presidency of the EU. POPSEven in Soccer, Apartheid Zionist discriminate against Arab Israeli Citizens
Last year Beitar had to play a game behind closed doors after their fans sang songs defaming the Prophet Muhammad during a cup game. But it was a huge protest that took place in Sakhnin before the Toto Cup games were due to take place that not only shocked the Israeli FA into action, but also reopened the debate about the country's Arab, Muslim minority. Debate raged in the Israeli press over how many people turned up to the pro-Gaza protests, where Palestinian flags were flown and plastic baby dolls were brandished covered in red paint to mimic blood. The Jerusalem Post reported that only 10,000 protesters turned up, singing anti-Israeli songs and flying Hamas flags, which for many Israelis is akin to flying the Swastika. Ha'aretz on the other hand, reported that 100,000 people protested and that it was largely peaceful. Prominent in the protests was Genaim, the football club's outspoken former chairman who left his position at Bnei Sakhnin in November to successfully be elected

POPS"How The Nazis Stole Christmas" continues (full text at source): We tend to think of the relationship between organised religion and totalitarian regimes – as in the Soviet Union – as one in which freedom of religious belief and expression are ruthlessly suppressed in the name of the unity of the state. But if that is the case, what exactly is taking place in our notional Christmas scene – one which could be taking place in any German town from 1933 to 1943? Does the substitution of the swastika for the cross reveal the Nazis’ transformation of a key Christian festival into a pagan rite, an appropriation of a popular tradition for political ends or an uneasy coexistence between the German people’s old-fashioned Christmas pleasures and the imperatives of their new masters?
