POPSGeithner says Americans will have to save more What is this man talking about? Exactly which sector of Americans is he insisting they save more? Why do I want to change the "global economy"? If Washington would leave the "private sector" alone, couldn't it grow more? Why doesn't Washington take this man's advice and "Save More!!"?? Oh...and get your behind home and do some work for the US.

POPSThe Green Revolution wasn’t green enough What really drives the Green Revolution is profits for oil and chemical companies which is why it is so hard to stop. If cattle are fed on pasture, no money is need for buying, producing and transporting corn, it stays with the farmer.

POPSWhy Obama's popularity rating is not that big a deal More: Where will the primary challenge to Obama come from? Would any significant element of the Democratic Party be likely to lend support to such a rebellion? He won by a larger margin than any Democrat since LBJ, and mobilized electoral blocs that are key to the future of the party. Where is the ascendant trend for the GOP, when they are the ones losing the "growing" constituencies -- young people, Latinos and the West -- and they are the ones whose policies created the mess Obama inherited? …As to the economy, everyone's guess is as good as the next person's. Approval ratings won't matter much if we never get out of the current bind, as even Obama himself in a moment of surprising honesty has admitted. But if things get even moderately better, it is hard to imagine, short of scandal or war, that this nation will turn its back on the choice for change it so decisively made last November.

POPSThe planet's future: Climate change 'will cause civilisation to collapse' But the authors suggest the threats could also provide the potential for a positive future for all. "The good news is that the global financial crisis and climate change planning may be helping humanity to move from its often selfish, self-centred adolescence to a more globally responsible adulthood... Many perceive the current economic disaster as an opportunity to invest in the next generation of greener technologies, to rethink economic and development assumptions, and to put the world on course for a better future." POPSSecretary of the Interior Ken Salazar Sets Gray Wolves Up for Slaughter
It is beyond comprehension and without precedent that we find ourselves in this situation; with a wildlife population that has only just been declared "recovered" now facing a possible loss of over half of their numbers. No one would have dreamed of "managing" the bald eagle so aggressively as soon as it came off the Endangered Species Act, yet for purely political reasons, wolves in the Northern Rockies face the possibility of the eradication of the majority of their population soon after losing federal protections. Secretary Salazar should not have allowed this rule to take effect without engaging in a clear and transparent public consultation process. Instead, he made the surprise decision to move forward without considering current science and without ensuring that appropriate state wolf management plans are in place to ensure a sustainable wolf population after delisting. In fact, Secretary Salazar rejected offers from groups in the region and around the country to work with

POPSAustralia needs one-child policy: ex-MP Over population is the greatest threat to the survival of the human race. It doesn't just happen in poor African countries. The shortage of water and food will soon be everywhere. Kanck is the devil's advocate on this one and someone has to kick off the thinking process involved..

POPSThousands Rally Ahead of G-20 It seems the free enterprise system is working too well for the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ are upset about it. What they’re really upset about is that those capitalist pigs are not sharing their wealth. Why should they? They worked hard for it therefore they are entitled to it, right? Ah, but the true problem is that these same pigs take unfair advantage of their wealth to skirt tax laws while no one else can. That does present a distinct disadvantage to the rest of us. And who is in control of this system? The rich, of course. The only way this system is going to change is if compassion towards the ‘have nots’ somehow miraculously takes hold and the rich stop using loopholes built into the system. Not likely to happen. The very idea of sharing wealth with those who did nothing do build it is completely foreign to those in power. This is why this system will never change. And, as it always has, our protestations will fall on deaf ears once again.
