POPSWii Sports Is Best-Selling Game Ever Wii Sports is obviously a big deal. But these record-breaking numbers have a lot to do with the ever-expanding market for video games -- consumers from kindergarten kids to senior citizens are playing games now. Credit Nintendo and the innovative Wii for much of that expansion -- but understand that in the grand hall of fame of gaming, Wii Sports isn't even on the same shelf as Super Mario Brothers.

POPSIs Nintendo a snake oil salesman? It's true. Games like Wii Fit and Brain Age play to your mental and physical insecurities, but there's no real proof that they actually improve either. From experience, Wii Fit is more motivational tool than workout machine: http://is.gd/Bo3 EDIT: I should emphasize that this is clipped from an opinion piece, so it's not definitively declaring Nintendo's products bogus.

POPSTop Games, Consoles In Japan No Longer Nintendo's As reported by Ars Technica, sales of the PSP have surpassed DS and Wii sales in Japan. Also, popular Playstation 2 game "Gundam Mosou Special" have surpassed everybody's favorite Nintendo game, "Super Smash Bros Brawl" -- which, obviously, is still popular too, just not as popular as Gundam. I think it's weird that it's a Playstation 2 game and not a PS3 game.

Since those crude beginnings the game industry has grown into a business to rival Hollywood, and, of course, has its own awards ceremony, the Golden Joysticks, to celebrate excellence in the field.
