POPSPepsi taking a year off from Super Bowl, will anyone notice? I love this quote from the "marketing expert" who is a professor at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Managment. He thinks there will be a backlash from consumers if they don't see Pepsi advertising in the Super Bowl. Yea, I can see this igniting protests all around the country right after the game. People are sure to be pretty pissed that a company didn't drop $3 million on a 30 second spot. (I hope you can hear my sarcasm)

POPSThe absence of Abou Diaby.... Tim Collings, of Goal.com UK has written an article about Carlos Vela, about whether he will be able to live up to the expectations of Arsene, that he is of Robbie Fowler mode. Subsequently he talks about the jittery Sunderland match, the team had and elicit some of the issues that is niggling arsenal' form now. I am not even sure, you could term the sunderland bungle a serious dent in form. as it was a victory which came after a long streak of 14 games unbeaten.

POPS1000s cheer Palin in Mich. for book tour
I hope someone gives me her book for Christmas. I doubt that she has Presidential aspirations but I believe she is hoping to give encouragement and energy to the conservatives of America who have, honestly, lost all hope that America can rebound from the free-fall over the last several years. As much as I appreciated President Bush (and admired his wife) he was too nice those last several years and allowed the press to bash him mercilessly. Plus I did not agree with the illegal immigration issue. I wish he had pressed more for energy independence but I believe he was worn down and out by the faulty intelligence, the back-biting within his Cabinet, dealing with the causalities of the wars in Afghanistan & Iraq, etc. A person can only handle so much without physically and mentally drawing down. Palin is fresh, feisty, fearsome and committed to her conservative values. That's what people hear..PLUS all the attacks from the MSM which make them like her more!!

POPSSeminoles outscore N.C. State 45-42 What a lame article. It was a fantastic game. Neck & neck the whole time. Ponder has been injured it seems like forever and he got pounded several times. He looked like a dead-man walking sometimes. With 5 seconds to go, no time outs, and NC State working for a Tie, their quarterback threw the long ball. In the end zone the ball bounced around, popping up and FSU gets the interception!!! While I rarely watch football anymore, the game was a nail-biter for this one who is wanting Bobby Bowden to finish well. As the commentators said several times during the game...he deserves to coach as long as he desire and retire on his terms. He put FSU on the map, helped contribute financially to the college, built a strong program, and has been a wonderful mentor to many young men. OK sports fans...signing off. :~)

POPS3,000-year-old oak barrel of butter found in Kildare bog
more (at source): The barrel is also split along the middle, which is common with utensils filled with butter found in the bogs. A conservator at the National Museum, Carol Smith, told that the butter expands over time, causing the split. The barrel is about three feet long and almost a foot wide, and weighs almost 35kgs, (77lbs). The butter has changed to white and is now adipocere, which is essentially animal fat, the same sort of substance that is found on well-preserved bodies of people or animals found in the bog. The two men put the barrel in the cab of their tractor and brought it back to their base. "We put it in a black plastic bag," Mr Fitzharris explained. And last Tuesday in the Conservation Department of the National Museum of Ireland in Collins Barracks, the two men were reunited with the barrel in the company of Monasterevin man and one of the museum's keepers, Pádraig Clancy and conservator Carol Smith. Mr Clancy was contacted by Bord na Móna's archaeo

POPSStreet Urinal Makes Public Peeing Practical Practical!?! Seriously!?! This is a big problem in Barcelona? I think I have to disagree with the claim “because the locals have some taste”. If they had some taste this concept would become public toilets, inside a building, with running water.

POPSCongress Objects to CIA Lies But Not Torture and Murder? So what do you call a country if not a "tyranny" when its top officials dispatch their henchmen around the world to murder their enemies? That’s how the Soviet Union’s Joe Stalin worked. "No man, no problem." Stalin was no believer in respecting the sovereignty of other countries or bothering with their courts. Just go in and kill the guy. Apparently, Cheney worked the same way. And like Stalin, he authorized torture. This totalitarian streak runs deep both in the White House and CIA. The U.S. had been involved in the assassination or attempted assassination of 37 world leaders and more than 50 U.S. foreign interventions, mostly by the CIA, ranging from blackmail to armed overthrow. Blum also cites evidence of CIA meddling in 30 foreign elections. The crimes of our presidents and the CIA today represent everything America’s Founders despised.

POPSA Mother's Shame Of Not Having Health Insurance. When I read this short letter, I thought about how so many people of low income are ashamed that they appear to those educated and well-off as poor and indigent. The shame should fall on the country itself. How cold a government who could care less if all its citizens does not have access to good affordable health care? I can't believe I have lived this long and the debate is still going on. Affordable health care for all should be the number one issue for all our political leaders. Why it is not, is the true shame of this country. If we go another generation without health care for all, we don't deserve to speak out against any other country’s lack of human rights. I hope we all start yelling..."I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!" President Barack Obama, STOP LISTENING TO THE INSURANCE LOBBIES AND HEAR OUR CRIES!
