POPS Official Hot Air: The Obama Watch (actually 17.5 percent by the government's own numbers, counting "discouraged" workers who've quit looking for a job and counting part-timers seeking full-time), and the economy still losing a quarter million jobs per month, and 2.9 million jobs lost since Obama signed the $787 billion non-stimulating stimulus bill into law in February, the administration's economic agenda is basically a suicide mission that treats job creation like cigarettes -- something to discourage through increased regulations, more central controls and higher taxation. The basic Law of Demand principle in Economics-101 shows that consumers purchase less of something when the price goes up, and it's no different with employers and entrepreneurs when they're deciding on how much labor to purchase or how many jobs to create through business expansion or new start-ups.

POPS Thomas Sowell: Random Thoughts Stepping beyond your competence can be like stepping off a cliff. Too many people with brilliance and talent within some field do not realize how ignorant– or, worse yet, misinformed– they are when talking like philosopher-kings about other things. Government pressures on mortgage lenders to accept less than the full amount they are owed may win votes for politicians, since there are far more borrowers than lenders. But how much future lending can be expected when the lenders know that politicians are ready to intervene at any time to prevent them from getting their money back? People who are urging us to do things to win the approval of other countries seem to put an excessive value on other country’s approval, as distinguished from their respect that we can lose by such bowing to “world opinion.” Do the world champion New York Yankees try to curry favor with teams that are also-rans?

POPSMore than a coincidence................. "Dunn was the lead critic of Fox News for reporting on the ACORN prostitution scandal, which originally broke on September 10. Dunn subsequently launched a public attack against Fox News on October 11, and she even stated 'let's not pretend they're a news network' in reference to Fox. .

POPSDunn to Step Down as White House Communications Director In an interview, Dunn said she will stay on in a consulting role, but her communications director title was always meant to be temporary. The first communications director, Ellen Moran, stepped down in April to become chief of staff at the Commerce Department.

POPSFree your heart from hatred... The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up! Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less.

POPSSee the angel beside you More: He thanked me as we landed, for helping him. I imagine he thought I was his angel for those two flights, but as we went our separate ways after landing in Chicago and I watched him walk away, I knew he was mine, instead. This week, be an angel for someone. Let them be an angel for you, a stepping stone forward into their week. And know that sometimes the angel you need is the one who needs you. And sometimes, just sometimes, they are already right beside you for the trip. (All the tests were negative, I found out a week later).

POPSOops, He Did It Again: John Edwards Continues His Epic Fall From Grace This should be a lesson to everyone in Washington. Admit your role and your party's role in the corruption that is all around you. People are tired of being lied to and bill's being written by special interests that are shoved down our throats. Get rid of the deep seeded corruption around you and maybe the American people will actually re-elect you. Otherwise, it doesn't look too good for any incumbent. Now that the average American is paying attention, it will take more than sound bytes and large campaign funds. More than ever, accountability and integrity are required. It's time to come clean with the American People you are supposed to represent. Stepping down off my soap box now.

POPSLearn to Relax Let's face it, we all get anxious. It is hard to imagine living a normal life in this day and age without some kind of anxiety provoking situation popping up. It is all about what we do with it vs. if we will have it, right? What do you do to relax? Does it matter if you are introverted or extraverted? Does how much money you have help or hinder? POPSPalin Hit with Another Ethics Complaint In February, Palin was required to pay back income taxes on thousands of dollars in expense money she received while living at her home overlooking Lake Lucille in Wasilla. Little more than two weeks ago she was forced to pay back the State of Alaska more than $8,100.00 for nine trips taken by her children that she had improperly charged as being part of official state business. The reason she is spending so much time fighting off ethics complaints is because she is actively performing unethical acts.

POPSDid an embezzlement scandal force Palin to resign? Alaska bloggers have reported in recent weeks that “a long simmering embezzlement/IRS scandal is still being looked at by the feds.” In her press conference today, Palin asked the public to “trust me with this decision and know that it is no more politics as usual.” She’s right about one thing, stepping down is in the best interest of Alaska.

POPSAlthough Ignored By the Media-- Palin's Accomplishments Were Extensive
We also slowed the rate of government growth, we worked with the Legislature to save billions of dollars for the future, and I made no lobbyist friends with my hundreds of millions of dollars in budget vetoes... but living beyond our means today is irresponsible for tomorrow. We took government out of the dairy business and put it back into private-sector hands - where it should be. We provided unprecedented support for education initiatives, and with the right leadership, finally filled long-vacant public safety positions. We built a sub-Cabinet on Climate Change and took heat from Outside special interests for our biologically-sound wildlife management for abundance. We broke ground on the new prison. And we made common sense conservative choices to eliminate personal luxuries like the jet, the chef, the junkets... the entourage. And the Lt. Governor and I said "no" to our pay raises. So much success in this first term - and with this success I am proud to take credit...
