POPS"Risk from swine flu vaccine 'greater than catching virus"
Showing World Health Organisation (WHO) graphs about the rise and fall of the H1NI virus around the world, he told his audience that staying informed was the most important thing anyone could do regarding potentially risky infectious diseases. He suggested there may be a lot of under-reporting of the H1N1 virus now in cases where the symptoms are relatively mild. “It seems that a lot more people have had the virus undetected than the WHO thinks and if this is the case, we won’t see a second wave of the H1N1 virus because so many people will have developed the antibodies against it.” He also questioned the potential effectiveness of a vaccine based on the current strain of the H1N1 virus if a more virulent form of the virus develops. “The real risk is if the virus is transferred back to pigs and from them back to humans again. The current strain has probably been circulating in pigs for 10-17 years, according to a paper in Nature Biotechnology,” said Dr Verkerk.

POPSSurvive eating out with kids It is possible. Maybe not probable but you can do it...go out to a nice dinner with kids. I remember the days when Taco Bell was dining out with our kids. That was part due to the fact that they would want the $20 hamburger or burrito anyway. So why go through the stress and pay for it too? Fortunately, as our kids got older, they could sit still long enough to use some manners and enjoy a nice dinner out. Our most useful tactic was to take them out one by one and focus on the relationship, engaging the child in conversation and role modeling appropriate dining out etiguette. Take a closer look at the article below and share your dining out experiences be they good, bad or ugly!

POPSLove is to put aside your egos...say I love U
He picked one out and gave her money for it. "Would you like me to wrap it for you?" she asked, smiling her cute smile again. He nodded and she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store. He went home and from then on, he went to that store everyday and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store. He bought a CD like he did everyday and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out... !!!RRRRRING!!! The mother picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" It was the girl!!! She asked for the boy and the mother started to cry and said, "You d

POPSTransvestite Lizards continues: Dominant males can detect transvestite's male hormones with their sensitive tongues, even if they are taken in by their female appearance. University of Sydney researcher Jonathan Webb said this meant the she-males needed to be nimble to avoid advances from dominant males smitten by their fake female allure. "Males are fooled by looks, but not by scent," he said. "She-males are able to maintain this deception by staying one step ahead of a prying male, and thereby avoiding a nosey tongue that might give the game away." The research was published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society.

POPSGoogle’s Street View Takes Byte Out of Crime I can be just as impressed by technology as the next guy, but this fluff piece about Google’s Street View is more hype than it deserves. First of all, clearly the grandmother is an amateur ‘kidnapper’, a serious kidnapper would not have allowed the girls cell phone to remain on. Secondly, these guys could have called local police and given them the coordinates and they would have seen the motel, and so on. Even if it does illustrate one ‘good’ use of the technology it is doubtful this will become the future of crime fighting. I don’t fully understand why privacy watchdogs are concerned with this technology, using it doesn’t ‘reveal’ any more than what someone driving down the street can see. I am amazed that TechCrunch even gave coverage to this. News in the tech world is not this slow.

POPSThe Phenomena of Stunted Growth in Young Black Women While more research is needed, this study does offer insight into why young girls from lower socioeconomic classes have been menstruating as early as age 8. Consider the results of a 2002 study published in Pediatrics and discussed in the following Web M.D. article. About 10% of white girls and 15% of black girls in the study had started menstruating before age 11, which is considered early menarche. Early menarche has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer, obesity, and miscarriage. http://www.webmd.com/baby/news/20021009/girls-menstruating-earlier

POPSCorporations in Brain Drain - Will Boomers Help?
Quote excerpt: "Companies historically haven't been proactive in getting older workers to train younger workers to do their jobs. " It is my (humble) opinion that the work ethics of the younger workers have changed over the years. When I walk by a (younger) worker's desk and see them surfing the web or iPhoning, iTuning and iChatting on company time, it pisses me off. Whatever happened to asking a co-worker who is swamped, if they could use some help? It's called "Team Work" and I haven't seen much of it coming from the younger crowd. I also see more bully attitudes. Those of us that have been working our asses off over the years don't appreciate this attitude in the work place nor do we have time to deal with it because we're 'busy.' Hello? And what's this crap excuse "It's not my job," or "that isn't in my job description." I had one young gal working with me, in college, bright and intelligent and took initiative. Quick learner. However, everything she did
