POPSOrigami Tessellations - folded-paper art by Eric Gjerde I must send this to my father-in-law, who discovered a love of origami around the time {{spiritualmonkey}} and I got married. The monkey and I liked the idea of folding 1,000 cranes and using them as part of the decorations for the wedding & reception... but what with everything else there was to do to get ready, we got maybe to 100 and ran out of steam. One day, a month or so before the wedding, a box arrived in the mail from his folks. It was about a foot square and maybe six inches tall, and when we opened it up we found it was filled solid with origami cranes of all different colors and sizes, which his dad had folded for us. At the rehearsal dinner, Papa Monkey gave me an origami rhinoceros, which represented "the perfect family member: bad eyesight to not see faults, bad hearing to not hear gossip, a thick skin to let things bounce off, and a very, very big heart." I love my in-laws.

POPSOscar Buzz Mounts For Heath Ledger In "The Dark Knight" Co-star Christian Bale, who plays Batman, was quoted by Contactmusic as saying: "I do think that Heath has created an iconic villain that will stand for the ages, and of course, I would love to see him get an award. Residents of Ledger's home town of Perth in Western Australian have found their own way to ensure his legacy lives on, naming a theatre in his honor for his commitment to acting. At a naming ceremony last week, state premier for Western Australia Alan Carpenter said the $87 million (43.8 million pounds), 575-seat theatre was a fitting tribute as Ledger was always supportive of other young actors. "Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that's what made him successful," Carpenter told local reporters. "I think what we're doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be.

POPSPhilebrity Beach House RAIN DATE 6/17 This past weekend this event rained out- along with most of the other events in Northern Liberties like the annual concert in the Liberties Lands park. Only the Art Star Craft Bazaar trooped through the hurricane like weather.
