POPSToo fat to kill? Fla. man uses weight as a defense He argued that at 5 feet 7 and 267 pounds, his obesity made death by lethal injection inhumane because it would be difficult for prison staff to find suitable veins to deliver the deadly chemicals. There were no such difficulties when he was executed this month. POPS I Blame Bush. And Global Warming. I on behalf of the residents went to the Suizhong Power Supply Bureau and Urban Construction Bureau to submit our petitions. However the results were various departments knowing the issues but pointed fingers to each other, no one stepped up to do anything. In the end, I reluctantly went to the county government. After several twists and turns, the county finally agreed to see us, but only limited to 5 minutes. After listened to our situation, supposedly the county government were to direct the urban construction bureau to resolve the issues. But more than two months had passed and nothing was done. When we asked the county again, the response from the county government was “we are in the process of contacting the relevant department”, asking us to wait longer. We were left with no choice and thought about the Internet. Netizens please support our 12 families and over 40 people, wake up those government officials, to solve our real problems!

POPSSouth American Pyramids were musical instruments? more: To investigate further, Jorge Cruz of the Professional School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Mexico City and Nico Declercq of the Georgia Institute of Technology compared the frequency of sounds made by people walking up El Castillo with those made at the solid, uneven-stepped Moon Pyramid at Teotihuacan in central Mexico. At each pyramid, they measured the sounds they heard near the base of the pyramid when a student was climbing higher up. Remarkably similar raindrop noises, of similar frequency, were recorded at both pyramids, suggesting that rather than being caused by El Castillo being hollow, the noise is probably caused by sound waves travelling through the steps hitting a corrugated surface, and being diffracted, causing the particular raindrop sound waves to propagate down along the stairs (Acta Acustica united with Acustica, DOI: 10.3813/AAA.918216).

POPSVoice Memories Part of National September 11 Memorial & Museum Inside they'll see the last column that was removed from the site and is now back in place, covered in graffiti and photos of the missing, along with the slurry wall, part of the original structure that survived the collapse. But it will be the images of the attacks - and the stories of the dead, their families and loved ones that will move visitors most. Visitors will be warned about graphic images - people jumping, human remains, planes piercing the towers - and will have a choice of whether to view them. http://makehistory.national911memorial.org/ BY Kerry Wills Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2009/09/11/2009-09-11_your_voice_can_be_part_of_new_museum.html#ixzz0QnnNaIPN

POPSFreedom From Stairway-phobia With The Wheelchair Stair Lift Accidents happen, diseases strike, and then sometimes it's simply a question of age. Whatever the cause, some of us are unable to navigate a staircase on our own. We just have to wait for someone to come along to assist us navigate the stairs. If there's no one around then we're practically tied to that single floor of the building. Even if someone is around, we often feel hesitant to disturb them every now and again. The wheelchair stair lift comes as a godsend for people like us. They score over regular elevators because they cost so much less and they require so much less structural change in the building.

POPSSTATUE OF LIBERTY PICTURES: Rare Views, Inside and Out The torch has been off-limits to visitors since the "Black Tom" explosion of July 30, 1916. Debris from the attack on U.S. ammunition supplies on nearby—and long since subsumed by landfill—Black Tom Island, New Jersey, pierced the statue. Another attack—the terrorist assault on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001—prompted the full closure of Liberty Island, which was reopened a hundred days later. The Statue of Liberty would reopen in 2004, and the reopening of the crown will complete the process on the Fourth of July, 2009.
