POPSFree Splenda samples and great coffee items I wanted to try Splenda, but I thought it might have the same chemical taste as other sweeteners. Luckily, I found this website and was able to get some free samples. I absolutely loved it, and I'd recommend the samples to everyone.

POPSSplenda causes weight gain, impairs digestion, and affects chemotherapy & other drugs More: As of 2006, only six human trials have been published on Splenda. Of these six trials, only two of the trials were completed and published before the FDA approved sucralose for human consumption, and the two published trials had a grand total of 36 total human subjects. 36 people sure doesn’t sound like many, but wait, it gets worse: only 23 total were actually given sucralose for testing, and here is the real kicker — The longest trial at this time had lasted only four days, and looked at sucralose in relation to tooth decay, not human tolerance. Even more shocking, the absorption of Splenda into the human body was studied on a grand total of six men! Based on that one human study, the FDA allowed the findings to be generalized as being representative of the entire human population. Including women, children, the elderly, and those with any chronic illness — none of whom were ever examined.

POPSMore Bad News For Splenda/Sucralose After some nasty experiences with sucralose/Splenda, including severe migraines and nausea, I have done my best to avoid it like the plague (I don't even gargle with it--Listerine lists it as an ingredient in their flavored mouthwashes). I don't even chew gum with sucralose. I don't feed it to my kids or my friends, either. The only "diet" or "fat-free" drink I offer in my home is bottled water. I avoid food that says "low fat" or "fat free" unless I can tell, by reading the ingredients that they do not include "sucralose" as an ingredient. I'm thinking about getting my hands on some leaves from a Stevia plant to grow my own non-fat sugar substitute, produced with love from Mother Nature.

POPSSoda-Club Penguin – homemade sodas & seltzer on your countertop We're trying to move away from disposable/recyclable products and toward reusable ones, so this countertop soda & seltzer maker sounds great. (Less thrilled that all the soda mixes include Splenda, but there are other mix-ins one could use, I'm sure. I already have a good recipe for a zingy homemade ginger ale syrup, for starters.)
