POPSBeing vs Doing We're afraid of losing control. If we really slowed down to a more balanced pace and took time to enjoy life, what might happen? Would anything get done? Would we survive? Frightened of loosening our grip and free-falling into an imagined abyss,we struggle to impose our agenda on life while contracting away from the natural, ever-changing, and unpredictable flow of being. Like Arjuna on the battlefield when Lord Krishna reveals his splendor in the Bhagavad Gita, the mind is innately terrified of being because it represents mysterious, unexplored terrain. In fact, the mind's job is to resist the unknown and create a false ground of security, constructed of beliefs and identities designed to protect us from the groundlessness of impermanence and change. As the great spiritual traditions teach, however, our essential nature is far vaster than the mind can encompass. A constant challenge - the great balancing act.

POPSTaliban Now Winning There is a segment of the left that is fundamentally mired in the quagmire that is their thinking on any war. They seem to believe that absent a direct threat to the sovereignty and safety of the United States, there is no justification for fighting. I'm not about to begin to explain that because I could care less what the leftards think. They can learn to march backwards on their own damn time. So brace for another information war during the 2010 election cycle as the trumpeters of quagmire sound forth. President Obama may have campaigned with some lively rhetoric about Afghanistan and Pakistan, but there will be considerable opposition from his own party and we will have to see if he will stay the course or cut and run. If the left had their way, they'd make "cut-and-running" an Olympic demonstration sport.

POPSon torture- and jane harman i am so sick of hearing about- "but what if you could get usful information? and keep your country safer?" to this I say "What if you gained a pair? and stood for Something-(values) instead of falling for anything?" the what if is b.s. as far as I am concerned- And the powers that be should not change laws to suit their lack of moral conscience.....or just whatever the reason they did this is.....the part I just don't understand?
