Keith Olbermann Helps Raiise $1.2 Million For Free Health Care Clinics
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-22-2009    1
Wednesday night on "Countdown," Olbermann announced that, thanks to the generosity of "Countdown" viewers, a health fair would take place in New Orleans on November 14. This is on top of health fairs already planned for November 9-10 in Kansas City and November 21 in Little Rock. How did this idea come about? "We were looking for something to relieve the frustration so many people felt," Olbermann told the Huffington Post. "I thought of an insurance strike, but insurrectionist as that might sound, it would endanger lives. So Rich Stockwell, one of my Senior Producers, suggested that the Free Health Clinics group turns every dollar donated into five in services. Thus if we helped them stage clinics in the key cities, we'd get help to thousands of people, we'd relieve that sense of near-paralysis, and we might even put some pressure on those Democratic Senators who won't even commit to precluding a filibuster. So this one was Rich's."

Scientist spying for Israel busted by the FBI
ratilfar
by ratilfar  10-20-2009
An affidavit suggests why FBI agents posed as agents of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad to conduct the sting operation. From 1998 to 2008, the complaint alleges, Nozette was a technical adviser for a consultant company that was wholly owned by the Israeli government. Nozette was paid about $225,000 over that period, the court papers say. Then, in January of this year, Nozette allegedly traveled to another foreign country with two computer thumb drives and apparently did not return with them. Prosecutors also quote an unnamed colleague of Nozette who said the scientist said that if the U.S. government ever tried to put him in jail for an unrelated criminal offense, he would go to Israel or another foreign country and "tell them everything" he knows. The complaint does not allege that the government of Israel or anyone acting on its behalf violated U.S. law. In Jerusalem, Israeli government officials had no immediate comment. The affidavit by FBI agent Leslie Martell s

Chechen, North African and Pakistani Fighters Helping Taliban

Defense Minister Requests More International Troops, Says Thousands Bolstering Taliban Insurgency (AP) Thousands of foreign fighters have poured into Afghanistan to bolster the Taliban insurgency, the country's defense minister said Saturday as he called for more international troops. The remarks come as the U.S. debates whether to substantially increase its forces in Afghanistan or to conduct a more limited campaign focused on targeting al Qaeda figures - most of whom are believed to be in neighboring Pakistan. An American and two Polish troops were killed by bombs in the latest violence reported by NATO forces. U.S. military officials said they could not immediately comment on the claim of a recent influx of foreign fighters. Afghanistan's interior minister, who also spoke to parliament, endorsed a strategy promoted by the top U.S. commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal to focus on protecting civilians rather than simply killing insurgents.

It's the fight against death.
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  10-9-2009
Having empathy and concern for others can be a misfortune because there is so little one can do to help the forgotten ones. That's the way the Insurance Industry would like those who can't afford their high premiums to become... FORGOTTEN. It's only people with a platform such as Mr. Olbermann, who can bring to light the outrageous greed in this country where bottom-line is more revered than humaneness. I guess if they could just get rid of those who can't line their pockets, they would do so but since we are a nation of laws all they can do is lie, mislead and spend exuberant amounts of money lobbying their status quo. Thank all that is good, for Keith Olbermann, he is the guiding light to benevolent thinking of which we all, Conservatives and Liberals alike, can follow, if you happen to possess a heart. He truly is A VOICE OF REASON. thinkingblue View the whole segment here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33213245/

Hands up if you are sick of Google and Youtube's Censorship!
The Infowarrior

Well If it gets off the ground successfully we now have an Alternative. "VueFliX was founded on the principle of truth without censorship. Other video Web sites will censor content they find offensive. We will not. To ensure our right to maintain the Web site in this way, we build, run and host the entire Web site. There is no middle man for possible censorship. If our ISP makes any attempts to censor the truth, we will simply switch our ISP. It should go without saying, but we will not hesitate to censor blatantly offensive content that does not benefit the truth (e.g.pornography or spam)."

Manson follower 'Squeaky' Fromme out of prison
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  8-14-2009    1
Fromme was granted parole in July 2008 and released "via good conduct time" after completing a 15-month sentence for unlawful escape from a federal correctional institution, according to the statement. That sentence was being served consecutively after a life sentence for threats against the president. She escaped from a female prison in Alderson, W.Va., on Dec. 23, 1987, and was recaptured about two miles away on Christmas Day after a massive search. She was sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison for the escape. Fromme had said she escaped from prison to be closer to Manson.

GOP Bigotry and Racism 2009
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  8-10-2009
The Republican Party has been using mob scenes for some time now... There was the 2000 election when they brought in their thugs to stop the recount. Then again during election times, especially the McCain/Palin rallies. Mob mentality was in vogue during that conservative get-togetherness. Palin, along with her talk radio groupies would tell their base anything, short of go out and lynch the opposition, to rile their followers into a hateful bunch of bigots. Now again, they are at it with their dusting off of the ugly mob crowds and sending them out to descend upon democratic town hall meetings. These people (MOBS) are blatantly hateful and law abiding citizens don't know what to make of their anger... and that's exactly how they win. So many people believe they are just a crazy fringe and laugh them off while they grow just like the movie blob and cover the land with gooey, sticky, nasty hostility... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhOiP6OaTMs

Capt A, an expatriate who left the American shores 35 years ago quoted Henry L. Menchen in a comment he posted to a blog on Sotomayer, Freedom, and the law. I myself am similarly troubled by the yoke of our supposed democracy. Like any organism, the United States will do what it takes to survive. For an organism as large and as powerful as the United States "what it takes" is a frightening thought.

There is a series of photos that shows what immigrants have to face to get across Mexico. If we didn’t know it we would think the photos were taken in the U.S. Anonymous comment (therefore unverifiable) lists some of Mexico’s immigration laws: - There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, and all government business will be conducted in our language. - Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote, no matter how long they are here. - Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, nor any other government assistance programs. - You are not allowed to own waterfront property. That property is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country. - Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no "bad-mouthing" our president or his policies. - If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

Alessia Ravarotto is going back in Egypt, where it is her job and the father of her child. "My son loves his father, and he loves him", She said the egyptian fathers are often afraid that their foreign wives can leave for ever with their children, and that's why they often decide to take them away before. "It's a loop, someone has to put an end to it" Alessia Ravorotto thanked the present italian government for the job done to give her back her son, and the italian president of Senate, Renato Schifani, together with the egyptian president Mubarack. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is the owner of the daily newspaper "Il Giornale". I remember some titles: "We have to stop interracial marriages" "Marriages with foreigners last half time" "Caos about marriages with foreigners" But I must admit that they are right when they argue that "some cultures are incompatible" with mine. Their one, for example.

Demand Accountability for Torture
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  4-17-2009
I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! Two words enter my mind NAZI GERMANY. I guess the Nuremberg trials were a mistake and all those guilty of unspeakable acts should have been allowed to live their lives out normally. U.S. Military Prepared With Battle Plans For Somalia Pirates: Intelligence Sources

WASHINGTON - U.S. military commanders have already prepared battle plans for ending the scourge of piracy on the high seas off Somalia if President Obama pulls the trigger, sources told the Daily News Wednesday. A U.S. intelligence official, though dismissive of the pirates having any terrorism links, said "there is a more intense focus" now on these criminal gangs. America's stealthiest warriors have been involved in combat operations in the Horn of Africa for years - operating from secret bases in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia and Manda Bay, Kenya.
