Government health care rescues protesters at anti-government health care rally.
lifecyce1898

By the end of the day, “medics had administered government-run health care to at least five people in the crowd who were stricken as they denounced government-run health care.” Bachmann=proof that being severely developmentally and emotionally delayed does not preclude Government service. Ironically, she's the best argument that the government should not be running anything.

SEIU Needs Socialized Medicine To Stoke Its Underfunded Pensions

and union employees at the expense of the rank-and-file. To regain some semblance of fiscal stability, the SEIU has wagered heavily on forcing other employees to help fund its drying pension reserves. That was the motivation behind the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) ("Card Check"), a major Democrat initiative for 2009, and one on which the SEIU spent tens of millions of its members' money. Since Card Check is in serious trouble with lawmakers, state-run health care would be a suitable alternative. • The public option could force hospital and other health care workers into underfunded pensions, putting their retirements at risk • The average union pension has resources to cover only 62% of what is owed to participants • Less than one in every 160 union-represented workers is covered by a union pension with required assets • The PBGC already supports upwards of 30,000 pension plans • Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC), the governmental pension insurer,

Dispelling myths about meatless meals
Spiritualmonkey

The right-wing blowhards getting their knickers in a twist over this is so amusing. Because it's indoctrination to teach kids that anything but meat for lunch is a good thing. How dare they! Like kids experiencing foregoing meat one meal a week is some sort of communist plot to weaken our children and make them susceptible to socialized medicine and nuclear disarmament or something.

Baucus Healthcare Bill True Cost: $2 Trillion
merrie
by merrie  10-12-2009    1
None was provided to them to make these estimates, so we still don't even know what's really in the bill! There are a host of other frauds being perpetrated on us right now by our government regarding health care. So let's get something straight about the high percentage of GDP (16-17 percent) devoted to healthcare in this country, because it is widely misunderstood. First, most of the excessive costs of American medical care are the result of government intervention. In fact proponents of socialized medicine anticipated that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid would create a crisis in health care, generating calls for reform. Their ready answer was just more of the same. We would all like to see costs of medical care come down. This country should move to reduce costs by removing the causes: excessive government intervention that distorts the market. The many ways government intervenes and the many solutions are beyond the scope of this essay, but that is the answer.

Spin Doctors for Obamacare
merrie
by merrie  10-7-2009    1
The White House event was organized in conjunction with DFA and Organizing for America, Obama’s campaign outfit. OFA and DFA are behind a massive new Obamacare ad campaign, letter-writing campaign, and doctor recruitment campaign. The supposedly “grass-roots,” non-profit DFA is a spin-off of Doctors for Obama, a 2008 campaign arm that aggressively pushed the Democrats’ government health care takeover. DFA claims to have thousands of members with a “variety of backgrounds.” But there’s little diversity in their views on socialized medicine (98 percent want a taxpayer-funded public insurance option) " or in their political contributions. DFA president and co-founder Dr. Vivek Murthy, an internal medicine physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, served as a member of the Obama Health Policy Advisory Committee and the Obama New England Steering Committee during the 2008 presidential campaign.

More American Health Insurance Insanity

And people are still trying to get people to believe that commercial health insurance is better than government healthcare? Utter insanity. In the victim's native Philippines, she wouldn't have to deal with insanity like this. America, just get over your irrational phobia of socialized healthcare, and get universal healthcare already. The rest of the industrialized world has already realized that a healthcare system based on commercial healthcare is criminal unfair, and utterly flawed in its basic concept. The rest of the industrialized world having healthcare systems that outrank America's dismal 37th place rating is another clue that only lunatics don't want socialized medicine.

Death Merchants: Rick Scott profits off the uninsured
ratilfar
by ratilfar  9-30-2009
And this isn't the first time that Scott's warnings about the ills of socialist medicine have found an ironic echo in his own healthcare business. Scott argues that socialized medicine rations care and strangles competition, yet just after his first stint as anti-reform spokesman in the 1990s, while he was running the world's largest healthcare company, he was accused of monopolizing markets and choking out the competition while slashing the chain's costs to the point that it affected patient care. And while he asserts that two of the core principles of healthcare reform are "accountability" and "personal responsibility," Scott ran a company that ultimately pleaded guilty to defrauding the government in one of the nation's largest Medicare frauds ever. Two executives went to prison, the company paid almost $2 billion in fines, and Scott was pushed out of the company. Before he could retake the political stage, he had to build his healthcare business all over again.

Schweizer found that conservatives were much more likely to say they get happiness from putting other’s needs ahead of their own (55 percent to 20 percent), and that they would “endure all things for the one they love” (55 percent to 26 percent). What was that about “empathy” again? Conservatives also proved to be less selfish in questions relevant to the health care debate. While 71 percent of conservatives said that they had an obligation to care for “a seriously injured spouse or parent,” only 46 percent of liberals agreed. No wonder they want the government to do it.

Doctors for Patient Freedom: "No Government Run Health Care"
merrie
by merrie  9-10-2009
Rationing is the only way to control costs if third parties control all of health care financing . Universal Coverage by health insurance is neither achievable nor necessary while Universal Access to medical care is. An Individual mandate to buy health insurance is a slippery slope to socialized medicine and leads to many unintended consequences. Doctors will be forced to comply with government rationing protocols through use of cookbook medicine and electronic medical record systems. Medical Care will only get better under a free market system. Government and private charities have the capacity to take care of the poor. The tax code needs to be changed to grant Medical financial power to Americans, not to force Americans to act against their interests or grow the size of government.

Obama slashes Medicare in 2010 for Heart, Cancer Docs -- Media Silent
merrie
by merrie  9-1-2009
And while Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress try to ram a multi-trillion, socialized medicine program down the throats of the American people, the separate 2010 Medicare spending proposal has received almost no media attention. Announced July 1, it proposes to slash reimbursements to cardiologists and oncologists by more than 10% each . Consider, for a moment, that the number of American senior citizens (65 and over) is soaring and medical specialists were already projected to be in short supply. In fact, the Census Bureau predicts that the number of seniors will more than double from 40.2 million in 2010 to 81.2 million in 2040. These disastrous government policies are certain to hurt seniors. It's a real pity that the mainstream media couldn't find time to cover this story, although I'm sure Ezekiel Emanuel is pleased. Hat tip: Mark Levin.

When the heckler insisted she was wrong, Bachmann responded with an impromptu zinger: "I've given birth here probably more times than you, sir," she said. The gathered crowd erupted in laughter.

Obama Bankrupting U.S. Faster Than He Estimated: Gee, What A Surprise
merrie
by merrie  8-22-2009    3
Letting people keep more of their money -- to pursue entrepreneurship, invention, innovation and investment -- is the only antidote to a diseased economy. Cutting taxes, a mechanism that has proven so effective, so often, I can't believe anyone would even try to dispute them... cutting taxes lifts all boats. Tax cuts are the opposite of a "stimulus" package. They are a rallying cry for economic expansion. Tax cuts, however, are anathema to Democrat Statists who seek control of your private property. They who seek to control the size of your cars, how much energy you can consume, how much water your toilets can flush, what kind of light bulbs you can buy... anything and everything related to your privacy. Interestingly, it never ends with Democrats. They always want more control of you and your private property. Now it's your physical well-being -- socialized medicine and control of your body. And, after that, they'll want more.

Reforming health care is fiscally conservative
Lexica
by Lexica  8-20-2009
More: Real conservatives should point out that the current proposals are not tough enough on costs - and criticize Obama for that, not for fantasies like a communist takeover or euthanasia program for special needs kids. The Romney-Obama model will require fiscal boundaries to healthcare provision and this will mean a trade-off that will be hard to postpone much longer. We'll get less innovation, and probably some rationing at some point. But that is already happening - the rationing is done by insurance companies. One final thing: most Americans do not want people dying in the streets. If you have guaranteed emergency room care for the uninsured at public expense, you have already effectively socialized medicine. It makes no sense not to bring these people into the insurance system, and to offer less expensive, long-term preventive healthcare. To insist that ideology stand in the way of this piece of compassionate common sense is irresponsible.

Obama And Congress Are Crushing Small Businesses

Economist Stephen Moore, who is an editorial writer at the Wall Street Journal, said the stimulus package that became law in February is “like injecting yourself with morphine. It may feel “pretty good now,” but six months from now when you have to pay for it there will be a problem, he said. Brett Parker, CFO of Bowlmor Lanes (which operates bowling alleys in four states), said the legislation known as “card check,” which would outlaw secret ballots by employees on unionization votes, is the single biggest threat to his company. If his company’s labor force were to be unionized, “it would be so enormously expensive and make it so difficult for us to run our business,” he said. Parker added: Our government right now is proposing some of the most radical, fundamental changes in America that we’ve seen in a long, long time, and I think people need to be very careful when they’re looking at these programs and not think about change as a goal. And if we let this president . . .

Hell on Earth
ColoradoRight
by ColoradoRight  8-18-2009    2
Look at the defense Alinsky’s disciples are making of the Obama socialized medicine plan as they ask distressed constituents at the townhall meetings, do you have Medicare and do you like it? That’s a government health care system that works. Oh? So why is it going bankrupt? Isn’t that the reason for the new system? This one of course is much bigger, so the bankruptcy will be much more painful and destructive. But there wouldn’t be a need for this “solution,” and the price of medical care wouldn’t so outrageous, if progressives hadn’t devised the present system in the first place. So one rule for conservatives should be this: Don’t be so polite. When progressives propose their progressive solutions, remind them of the hell they have inflicted on the people they claim to want to help — gays, blacks, Hispanics, children. And that’s just for starters.
