POPSSelf Proclaimed Elites and Tyranny
"there’s little or no distinction between Nazism and socialism. Even the word Nazi is short for National Socialist German Workers Party. The origins of the unspeakable horrors of Nazism, Stalinism and Maoism did not begin in the ’20s, ’30s and ’40s. Those horrors were simply the end result of long evolution of ideas leading to consolidation of power in central government in the quest for “social justice.” "Few Americans have the stomach or ruthlessness to do what is necessary to make their governmental wishes come true. They are willing to abandon constitutional principles and rule of law so that the nation’s elite, who believe they are morally and intellectually superior to the rest of us, can have the tools to implement “social justice.” "Those tools are massive centralized government power. "It just turns out last century’s notables in acquiring powerful central government, in the name of social justice, were Hitler, Stalin, Mao, but the struggle for social j

POPS Securing the Web (These types of security checks operate in the background: they don't require you, for instance, to reenter your user name and password.) Many web applications also "sanitize" data posted by their subscribers: if a friend posts something to your social-network page, the application probably won't show you the post without inspecting it for malicious code. "We've looked at a lot of these web applications, and there's literally hundreds of places where these checks happen," says Nickolai Zeldovich, an assistant professor in MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. Indeed, Zeldovich and his colleagues identified one popular web application that sanitized data in more than 1,400 places (but still had about 60 security holes). They also, however, identified a feature that web application security checks usually had in common: "Namely," Zeldovich says, "it's that the same data is being handled in all these hundreds of places."

POPSHome-Schooler Ordered to Attend Public School According to court documents filed in Laconia, a small city in the central New Hampshire's Belknap County, Amanda is a well-adjusted child whose parents were divorced in 1999. The mother has primary physical custody of Amanda, whom she has home-schooled for several years in math, English, social studies, science, handwriting, spelling and the Bible. The course load, except for the Bible study, is similar to what public students get and the mother's home schooling has "more than kept up with the academic requirements of the school system," the judge's statement said. " believes that exposure to other points of view will decrease Amanda's rigid adherence to her mother's religious beliefs and increase her ability to get along with others and to function in a world which requires some element of independent thinking and tolerance for different points of view," Judge Sadler's ruling said.

POPSMore Obama Administration Crazies Then there is the White House energy czar Carol Browner, who served on the environment committee of the Socialist International, the umbrella group for 170 "social democratic, socialist and labor parties" in 55 countries, as reported by Fox News. Browner urged the international socialists to pursue "common action, since human survival increasingly depends upon the joint efforts of people around the world." Browner favors repeal of the industrial revolution to save us from global warming, as the planet gets cooler and cooler. And don't forget the White House science czar John Holdren. In his book Ecoscience: Population, Resources and Environment, Holdren ruminates that forced abortions may be a necessary policy "if the population crisis becomes sufficiently severe to endanger the society." The book also discusses spiking drinking water with chemicals to make people sterile. Harold Koh, who thinks Americans should be ruled by the laws of foreign countries

POPSBy imagining many possible worlds fiction can chang our Minds "For more than two thousand years people have insisted that reading fiction is good for bookyou. Aristotle claimed that poetry—he meant the epics of Homer and the tragedies of Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides, which we would now call fiction—is a more serious business than history. History, he argued, tells us only what has happened, whereas fiction tells us what can happen, which can stretch our moral imaginations and give us insights into ourselves and other people. This is a strong argument for schools to continue to focus on the literary arts, not just history, science, and social studies. But is the idea of fiction being good for you merely wishful thinking?'

POPSThis is what happens when you have "Education Ministries" They become control systems for the future. The conclusion:young students who will be given Danilov’s history textbook on Tuesday will be taught not to pose unnecessary, uncomfortable questions to their leaders. Let the wise politicians and bureaucrats continue to rule the country and pilfer the oil and gas wealth. This is precisely how they will build a strong and wealthy Russia " at least for themselves and their families. Any similarity with the Obamoid "independent experts" who will run the US health-care system is quite accurate.
