POPS Economic Stimulation I’m a little late to today’s economic-stimulus exasperation party. Sorry. I was busy working at my unstimulated private-sector job, which uses pulp, ink, trucks, pens, notebooks and a lot of eletronics plus electricity and employs hundreds of taxpayers directly and indirectly to tell people how the hacks are trying to shaft them in Boston. It was great. I enjoyed it. Even though, far from looking for or getting any support, we’ve had to fight the government over simple things like the freedom to enter business relationships with other news organizations that might have made us more financially viable. Thank you, Ted Kennedy, liberal lion.

POPS And Tonight’s Winner of the Sputtering Idiotic Partisan Hyperbole Award Is… The Republicans and FOX News are not the enemies of health care. They are opposed to a massive government expansion that can only be brought about through prohibitive costs maintained by a confiscatory tax scheme, and that by its very nature will restrict individual liberties, and restrict freedom of choice in ways that the government simply has no authority to assert. The Republicans and FOX News are not the enemies of education. They simply realize that despite the fact that the federal government has over time usurped power over the field of education that rightly belongs to the states and their subject governments, there is no Constitutional authority for the federal government to continually interfere in education and foist a politically correct agenda onto the American Peoples’ children, nor is there any legal justification to supplant the parents’ rightful opinions for their own. POPSFinding Their Voice "The women say the newsroom structure remains loose and titles are often trumped by a system of respect among equals. A key point in many of the women's lives came when they realized, usually at some point in primary or middle school, that as Dalits they'd been born at the bottom of India's social pyramid. The painful awareness came when she realized the teacher in her remote village never drank the water she offered him and would accept it only from higher-caste students."

POPSMilton Friedman - Greed In his book "Capitalism and Freedom" (1962) Milton Friedman (1912-2006) advocated minimizing the role of government in a free market as a means of creating political and social freedom. POPSConstitution? Treaties? Sovereignty? The lamenting over the obstacle that is the Constitution goes on with Liberals and World-Order phony Conservatives (read: today's Republicans) alike. Puppet cable news pundits want to imprint an image of Independents as moderates - in the "middle" of either "fringe". It depends, doesn't it? Higher elites of both persuasions strive to find a way to topple the Constitution, maybe to slightly varying goals, while the Independents really want to maintain sovereignty and the Constitution. Doesn't that put Ind.'s on the Right, with Rep.'s & Dem.'s on the Left? Criticisms against Obama policies are met by Bush criticisms. Enough. That's the wrong paradigm. Isn't it ? Aren't they both the puppets for those of NO county? Of NO allegiance but to a World Gov.? Or am I all wet, here?

POPSLooking for a middle class
A sad depiction of how our middle class has been steadily losing ground to corporate dominance. This new economy is strangling the very people responsible for the success of many businesses who, along with government’s help, are creating this new economy. The days of job security are over. Beginning when companies began turning their ‘full-benefit’ employees into contractors to save the expense of providing those benefits. The middle class is about to be beat down even further when the drive to reduce the deficit and debt takes center stage. Reduction of Social Security, Medicare and other entitlements will be seen as the answer to rising costs and the middle class will be the biggest losers, again. Ms Cocco advises us to “Fight the myths. Break the back of the corrupt campaign finance and lobbying systems. These are hard political tasks. But being pushed further down is harder, still. Because no one knows where the new bottom lies.” Advice we would all do well to heed.

POPSThe Neuroscience of Sin! Why do we do it? Reading this article made me think of the proverbial "chicken and the egg." The article suggests that we sin because our brains are evolutionarily designed to do so. This leaves us to conclude that you cannot manage sin as it is hardwired in. I don't agree with that. I think sin is the chicken! The article does a great job of illustrating how various emotions and motives play out in the brain not the other way around. The good news is the very last paragraph. Read it for yourself...enjoy!

POPSTwitter Talks Data With Microsoft, Google — All Things Digital All this without tarnishing the noisy service as a shill, because it lets you listen to only what you want. The deals would be nonexclusive and may not happen, All Things Digital reports " which only feeds the casual cred Twitter has been cultivating, taking its time about coming up with a business model that produces operating revenue, while it rakes in VC money at a level that values the three-year-old private company at about $1 billion. The “Let them do it” philosophy works like a charm for Twitter, whose content comes from the general public and whose best interfaces come from third-party developers making full use of the company’s freely available API. Along with the recently announced “lists” initiative, Twitter seems to be carefully setting the table so that partners can leverage its data " and the way it is organized " to enter new markets, while it sits back and maintains a server farm.

POPSRein in entitlements? No. Increase them, says James Galbraith. COMMENTARY | October 08, 2009 It's time the press stopped falling for false, ongoing efforts to portray Social Security and Medicare as going broke, says economist James Galbraith. To the contrary, increases in entitlement program benefits would provide a major boost to economic recovery. For reporters and editors Galbraith's message is: Separate propaganda from facts.
