It is clear there is no hostility. The wolf signaled play. While the bear may have been hungry, having nothing but snow and ice for a thousand miles (metaphorically) it would also have been bored out of it's mind. Seals are easier to eat, but they never want to play. Makes you wonder how smart huskies are.
