POPSMcCain's "overhead projector" debate comment Actually referred to the Zeiss planetarium projection system at the world-famous Adler Planetarium, which is falling into disrepair, and no longer has replacement parts. Here's a pic of the "overhead projector." Planetariums in NY and LA have already rec'd federal funding to replace Zeiss systems. They don't sell them at OfficeMax.

POPSChange you can believe in - change for the worse Do you like paying taxes, then watch government become bigger and more incompetent? Do you like discovering your family doesn't have enough income and start looking for a second job, only to find there are none? Do you really want a health care system like Canada's (ask any Canadian what they think of their health care - they wait over a year for an MRI, for example..) Did you like Carter's sky high inflation with a downward spiraling productivity? Then you will LOVE the change Obama brings you.

POPSOct 14 , 2008 - Blossom Goodchild, Project Blue Beam at Ron Paul's site Read also the Project Blue books site and then follow through to Blossom Goodchild's material so you won't miss anything should you see something in the sky you can't explain. I hazzard to advice that after reading the 2 articles in detail you still have to make up your own mind - it is not so straight forward. That is the least you can do for now.

POPSMcCain Fails to Understand, Sneeringly Misrepresents Sky Theater As "Overhead Projector" Andrey Kravtsov continues: "I find it appalling that Sen. McCain would call a science education tool for public (largely children) for a historic planetarium with millions of visitors a year a wasteful earmark. The planetarium's focus, as stated on their website (http://adlerplanetarium.org) is "on inspiring young people, particularly women and minorities, to pursue careers in science." Is an investment in such public facility at the time when US competitiveness in math and sciences is a constant source of alarm a waste?" No, it is not a waste. Senator McCain's failure to understand and/or appreciate the importance of science education is indeed appalling, as is his sneering, sniveling misrepresentation of this equipment as an unnecessary, overpriced "overhead projector".

POPSMovement To Create A New State Who would have thought that there were people left in Kaleefornia and NOregon who were wanting to work timber and fishing: Locals complain that federal and state regulators have hampered the fishing and timber industries to protect forestlands and endangered species such as sucker fish and the spotted owl. Jobs are so scarce that the median income in the area is only two-thirds that of the rest of the state. Most water from the rainy Shasta region is shipped south, with little economic benefit to the area. Even the California sales tax draws sneers.

POPSGalaxies found to be flowing together "He said another interesting idea proposed since the cosmic flow was detected is that instead of a gravitational pull by something beyond the observable universe, the galaxies are being pushed by an absence of mass in the local universe."

POPSMindMap on iPhone i Blue Sky This new app is a great way to brainstorm ideas whilst on the go. I use this to and from work so I can plan lessons or produce essay plans for students. Most mindmapping software available on the PC can be expensive. This app allows you to edit the app only on the iPhone but when e-mailed as a PNG furthur editing can take place on the home PC or Mac. This is more limited but it does me that the mind-map can be shared and titled. A PDF export function is great for ensuring your ideas are not altered by others. This app has strong editing features and its userface is clear and simple. Whilst the cost is a little higher than I would hope, there is no denying its functionality. It can be used by students planning out their essays and by staff working out their lessons, schemes of work and building resources

POPS Thoughts on the Bailout Defeat "A number of Republican House members and staff, along with others who are plugged in, are telling me that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats will come back with a new bill that includes all the left-wing stuff that was scrubbed from the bill that was defeated today in the House. As this scenario goes, the House Democrats need 218 votes, and they have to pick up a number of black and Hispanic House members who jumped ship because the Wall Street provisions, in their view, were too benign. So things like the bankruptcy judges setting mortgage terms and rates, the ACORN slush-fund spending, the union proxy for corporate boards, stricter limits on executive compensation, and much larger equity ownership of selling banks through warrants will all find itself back in the new bill. Of course, this scenario will lose more Republican votes. But insiders tell me President Bush will take Secretary Paulson’s advice and sign that kind of legislation."
